Welcome to the story of my VBAC

This webpage is dedicated to telling the story of my VBAC.  For those unfamiliar with the acronym, VBAC stands for Vaginal Birth After Cesarean.  Shortly after the birth, my uncle responded to my birth announcement saying "What is VBAC? Very Brave And Courageous?" to which I replied "YES.  That's exactly it."

But before you click through the pages and read the story, really, all you need to know can be summed up by these two pictures.  Worth a million words, truly.

The top picture?  Those were my first moments meeting my son Aedhan, my abdomen open, my uterus dissected, surrounded by strangers.

The bottom one...  part of my first moments with my son Colum, birthed at home in my living room with only those who love and support me there.

The thrill of love as I touched my children for the first time was the same.

But the way they entered they world was so so different.

(These pages are still being written.  Bits and pieces are coming out of me as I have the time and the strength to write.  There may be gaps and out of sequence pieces added.... and the pictures are coming first.  It seems that they are helping me write, to see the images of the birth.  Keep checking back as I add and observe the creative process as I add delete and edit and create the story of My Big Ugly VBAC)

I am humbly asking a few of you who are so inclined, to donate a few dollars so I can keep this site as a paid one, to get rid of the ads at the top of this screen. On my screen were ads for a VBAC injury lawyer and a regional cookie for a local "Birth Center". Ironically, the "Birth Center" where I had my cesarean... the horror I feel knowing that these ads top my HBAC birth story... it's... not nice. So, if you can, and if you appreciated my story in some way, kick in a buck or two, and help me keep those horrible ads off of my beautiful "Ugly VBAC". :-)

This birth would not have happened were it not for the International Cesarean Awareness Network, ICAN. If this story has touched you in some way, please consider supporting ICAN with a few dollars... every little bit helps. If you'd like to become a member, click here:

If you'd like to become a member through my local chapter, ICAN Of Greater Rochester, click here:

And if you just want to kick a few bucks my way to help me pay for the costs of keeping this site up (I upgraded to premium to take the VBAC injury lawyer's ads off the top of this screen!) please click here:
And, if you're in the market for a nursing tank, buy through this link and I get credit towards one of my own! Thanks! Sincerely -- Krista Cornish Scott
