The Mythology of Organization

MYTHOLOGY OF ORGANIZATION

Mythology of Organization utilizes Greek myths as lenses through which to perceive our organizations.

Like the world of the gods, organizations can be bastions of brotherhood or conclaves of carnage, a heaven of tranquility or a living hell wherein we can alternately become tormenting devils and tormented souls. It is this complex, nebulous, contradictory microcosm that organizational Meta-Mythology seeks to expose to scrutiny.

Myths are approached as microworlds to help us make sense of our experience in organizations. Mythology Of Organization helps us to critically examine the beliefs and values that have been bequeathed to us consciously and unconsciously.

Once we understand what it is we believe and why we are then in a position to change what we can. The ability for us to achieve distance from our current “reality” is indispensable to acting upon it in creative ways. For their ability to depict the arena of organizational life, Greek myths are unsurpassed, as the reader will shortly see.
