YAY MICHAEL! I KNEW YOU COULD DO IT!
August 17, 2008So, I'm so pissed off that I wasn't able to watch Michael's final race (the 4 x 100 m medley relay; a team relay) because I was on a trip with some friends...but HURRAY for Michael! He gothis eight gold medals, and his rightful place as one ofthe greatest Olympians EVER! (THE greatest, in my opnion, but why quibble?) He now has sixteen career Olympic medals, fourteen of which are gold! He's SO COOL!
Ohmygosh, this is so funny, according to the NY Times, if Phelps was his own country: “the Person’s Republic of Michael would have ranked fourth in gold medals [after China, the United States, and Germany] and been ahead of all but 14 countries in the medal count.”
Only Michael Phelps. Congrats, man.
Michael Fred Phelps, don't you DARE do that to me again!
August 15, 2008So I just watched the 100m butterfly today, thinking, Okay, this is Michael's specialty, he should clear this EASY!" But to my horror as I watched the race, he was lagging behind! He was in roughly fourth place in the first 25m, and seventh place after 50m! I swear I was about to go into cardiac arrest; I kept thiking, Ohmygosh, he's not going to get it! Wait, but he HAS to get it! He's MICHAEL PHELPS! He can't be beat! WTF IS HAPPENING?! GET A FLAMIN' MOVE ON, PHELPS!!
Then, in a miracle worthy only of Michael Phelps, he pulled back in the last 10m, and won by one hundreth of a second. That's right. His time was 50.58, and Cavic of Serbia's time was 50.59. See, Michael actually got there second, but he touched the wall-touchpad first. So, I'm glad he won, but shocked that he started so slowly. Maybe it's the exhaustion and stress finally setting in? I don't know. I hope not.

Or a Phelps Obsessor?
August 14, 2008Just watched the 200m individual medley. As expected, our man Michael Phelps prevailed, with a gold medal and a new world record! He swam wonderfully, finishing over 2 seconds before Lazlo Cseh of Hungary! Michael Phelps is the man to beat, and quite frankly, I don't think he can be beat. He's going to OWN tomorrow's butterfly race! GO MICHAEL!

A Phelps Phan at Heart. <333
August 12, 2008Michael Phelps is absolutely amazing, isn't he? He's so awesome! I just watched him swim the 200m butterfly and the 4x200 meter freestyle relay, and he set, yet again, two more world records! So far, out of all the five events he's swam at Beijing, he has gotten the gold and set a new world record! That man is too good to be true. He is SO going to get the eight medals he's aiming for -- he's a flipping fishman, for crying out loud! He's unstoppable. He already has a total eleven career gold medals -- the most of any modern Olympian! Yay Michael Phelps!

The Dark Knight!!
August 12, 2008I saw the Dark Knight a while ago, and it was AWESOME! I first saw it bootleg, and then officially in theaters. It was amazing! It was extremely well cast, with maybe Maggie Gyllenhal being a little iffy (but then again, it's hard to walk into a character that another actor has established). Heath Ledger OWNED the screen. He was creepy and schizophrenic and perverse and sadistic. Pure movie magic. I also thought it pretty funny when Gordon Brown freaked out and started yelling, and you could hear Gary Oldman's English accent come through.
The Dark Knight got me thinking. Superman is my all time favorite superhero, with Batman as the close second. The Hukis pretty cool too, because he's green and huge and he'll kill you if you anger him. Spiderman is an annoying twit who needs to be slapped. Wonder Woman would be cooler if she actually wore some clothes every once in a while. We need more girl superheroes -- but not like Wonder Woman or Batgirl or wimps like them. Some one cool, with an awesome power and outfit. Hmm...
Breaking Dawn = EPIC FAIL.
August 4, 2008Well, there's 8 hours of my life I'll never get back. Breaking Dawn, the highly anticipated final novel in the Twilight saga sucked like a newborn vampire on a human's neck. Stephenie Meyer abandoned everything she had set up in the previous books and went into her own fanfiction fantasy world. It was a storm of cheesy nicknames, no character development, plot holes, bad blonde jokes, lame and super convinient powers, randon useless extra vampires, rampant sex addicts, and no climactic Volturi battle. The novel had only one redeeming quality, and that was the chapter names for Jacob's portion of the book. Ms. Meyer goes on about sacrifice and the difficulty Bella will have to go through, and she miraculously skips over it. Pure disappointment. A waste of my $15.
And apparently, vampire sex isn't effective birth control after all.
MCR + TBS @ MSG = LOVE.
May 12, 2008SO, yeah, about the concert. First, Drive By went on, and since I'm not really a fan, I was just concentrating on waiting for TBS and MCR. And then Taking Back Sunday came on, and it was amazing! Adam dances like a little girl, and it was adorable! He also dropped his mike, and just danced it off and picked it right back up. It was also his dad's birthday, and he had us yell Happy birthday Phil! to him. Too cute.
And finally when MCR came on, it was AMAZING! Gerard dedicated one of the songs to his wife! And right before 'House of Wolves', all the lights went out, and he started howling! Gerard also had us all stand up and do the wave, and that was pretty funny, because he wasn't sure whether it should be done sitting or standing up. (We ended up doing it standing up...ooh, that sounded dirty, teehee.) It was amazing. I'm definately seeing them after the new album is written and released! (With better seats, that is!)
