Lineage
There seems to be a lot of elitism about Reiki Lineage. I have read that you should only ask a Reiki Master to attune you if they can trace their lineage back to Mikao Usui and not be more than four, five or six in line from Mrs Takata. I have also read that the energy is stronger if your lineage is short. If either of these statements are true, then surely Reiki will disappear eventually.
I was taught, and I believe, that Reiki is Universal Life Energy, it is all around us whether we choose to use it or not. It doesn’t come from any one person in particular, we are just channels that the energy passes through.
It is the amount of work and practise that you put into Reiki that strengthens the flow of energy, not how close you are to Mikao Usui or Mrs Takata in your lineage. Mikao Usui was not the source of Reiki energy, he just learnt how to channel it and passed his findings on to others.
It is nice to have your lineage from your Reiki Master when you recieve your attunement, but it is not essential, and it does not affect your ability to channel Reiki in any way.
Certificates
Certificates do not affect your ability to channel Reiki in any way. Anyone with access to a computer and printer can make any certificate they like….it does not prove anything. They may look nice on your wall, but unless you are entering a professional practise they are not necessary.
Most people who are planning to enter a professional practise will choose to go on courses and pay for their Reiki attunements, this does not mean that the Reiki they receive is any better than those who choose free distance attunements….all Reiki attunements come from the same Universal Source regardless of how you choose to receive them.
