On why he became an actor:
"Aged nine, I had this girlfriend, and we used to have running races in the park to see who would be her boyfriend for the day. I wanted to be like Superman and fly in and rescue her. Once I realised Superman was an actor, I thought, "That's for me." I got into acting for the women."
On The Lord of the Ring and his character Legolas:
"Elves live in harmony with the world, and I try to do that" Orlando explains he wants to live "in a more elfin style"
"Before filming had started, I was sitting in the hair and makeup trailer having my hairline raised for the wig. As it was being shaved back, Liv came and sat next to me for her wig fitting. We had met only once, the night before, and I was obviously a bit in awe of her. I turned and asked her what she thought of my new hairline. She replied that it was 'kinda cute', but suggested that I would look better with the sides totally shaved off. Obviously I was going to do anything Liv Tyler told me to do and, before I knew it, I had a Mohawk!"

"Elves are cool, man"
"I got to dress up in funny clothes and run around New Zealand with a bow and arrow for 16 months. How bad could that be?"
"Legolas's moves are smooth and elegant, like a cat. You know how cats can jump and land steadily on their paws? That's what I'm trying to do. There's a strength in that, but it's very balletic. It's also bloody hard to do without falling over!"
"I mean, I have a great job. I get to dress up and become somebody else, especially when it's someone like Legolas, who's this super-cool kind of otherworldly elf. It's, like, I'm lucky, man, so why would I not appreciate that?"
Vig used to call me "elf boy," and I'd call him "filthy human." As an Elf, I never got a scratch on me, never got dirty. And Vig would come out with blood and sweat all over him. And he'd say to me, "Oh, go manicure your nails."

"I'd always say to Vig, 'Well at least I don't smell...' or 'I get to live forever! Got that? FOREVER!'"
"I had just left my family and my friends behind and my life, and I was feeling a bit teary, you know the idea of leaving everything behind, and my dog...And this wee fellow walked over and he said 'You wouldn't be Orlando Bloom would you?' and I said 'Oh my god you're a hobbit!' and we just had this huge embrace."
"One day, I did the highest bungee jump in New Zealand. Five times in the space of half an hour! I knew the producers wouldn’t be too pleased about it so I only told them afterwards."

"I was 22, I had two more days left of drama school and it was, like, 'Here, have a career.' Boom. There you go."
"It was quite amusing to see the cast on a night off in Wellington. The Hobbits would be picking their feet, and the Elves would be picking their ears."
"Elf Envy...they all had it!"
On his fans:
"The girls have got a bit excited. I spoke to my agent and she says she's wading through the fan mail. We've got bags of it."
On rumours:
"I won't admit or deny anything...makes me more interesting."

On his quotes:
"I don't recall saying that...from the Internet, is that?"
On his accidents:
"i'm very accident prone, i have to admit. i've broken my back, my ribs, my nose, both my legs, my arm, my wrist, a finger and a toe and craked my skull three times."
On England's weather, POTC and its upcoming sequel:
"I can't cope with short, cold days. In England it gets dark early, so I prefer summer," he says. "I'll be heading back to Caribbean to film with Johnny Depp soon, which is cool. I have no complaints about working in the Caribbean!"
"On the first film they took me out there early and I didn't start shooting my scenes for a while, so I felt like I was on holiday,"
"England's my home. I feel lucky to spend time in America, but London keeps you real."
"You wake up and it's grey and wet and you have to get the tube. It can get on top of you, but I love the changing seasons."
