Sharing OPM with the world

My mission to bring Original Pilipino Music to the world

I've always felt that musicians here in the Philippines have what it takes to make it big in the international scene. All they need is wider exposure and more support from the music companies. This site is my humble attempt at trying to bring their music to a wider audience. Take a minute to listen and I'm sure you'll agree with me.

By the way, I'm more inclined to include bands from the rock scene as they tend to bring originality and a fresh approach to the local scene.

Please bear with me as I am just starting this site. Everything you see here is still in the testing phase. Thanks.

Sandwich

Definitely one of my favorite bands from the local rock scene, Sandwich has been one of the most original bands in the Philippines, consistently coming out with albums that will have you hooked from the first track to the last. You can hear the evolution of their sound  with every album they put out. With unbelievably catchy hooks and a fresh approach to songwriting, this is a band you have to listen to. Sunburn is a track from their latest album Five on the Floor. Listening to the song, you can almost feel like you're in Boracay during one of those unbelievably lively nights the beach is notorious for.

Listen to this and if you like what you hear, go buy their album.

Preview (this is just a test)

One of the more exciting new bands out today; Paramita, together with Up Dharma Down and Fuseboxx, brings the ladies to the forefront once again. You can check out their site at http://paramitamusic.com/indextemp.htm

Dictalicense

This band has been around for several years now but has only released their second album recently. They started out as a Rage Against the Machine clone but has managed to find their own voice with the release of their sophomore outing. Ranting and rallying against the government and the ills of society, they really take the name of their band seriously, definitely utilizing their license to speak. While the lyrics of their songs isn't for everyone, their minimalist approach to song arrangements will have you raising your fist in defiance immediately. The first single of their current album drips with optimism and is a ready anthem for those who believe that the Philippines will rise again. I'll try and translate the lyrics into english at a later time. Their website is at http://www.licensetospeak.com/.
