2010 marks the 6th year for MYHIO HAVEN HORSE FARM's Show Jumping and Cross-Country Horse Show Series! Myhio Haven Horse Farm is planning on hosting 3 shows for the 2010 season:
Due to the growing popularity of the show series, we are planning on 2 day shows for 2010. The Youth & Adult Beginner Divisions will be on Saturday, and the Introductory & Intermediate Divisions will be on Sunday. Due to the popularity of our Obstacle Courses, we will no longer reschedule horse shows. In the case of bad weather, we will have the Jumper Classes in the indoor arena, and the 2 Cross-Country classes will be replaced with 2 indoor Obastacle Courses.
Entries will be due two weeks in advance. Late entries will be taken with a $25 Late Registration Fee. Entries will be $12/class! The show is FREE to watch, so come join the fun!
Myhio Haven Horse Farm is hosting for the first time in 2010:

The Winter Wonderland Horse Show - January 30th & 31st.
The Winter Wonderland Horse Show will be held in the indoor arena. The Winter Wonderland Show will follow a different format from the rest Show Jumping & Cross-Country Horse Shows. The show will start on Saturday & Sunday at 1:00pm. There will be 5 classes, and the horse/rider combinations with the most points on showday will be awarded ribbons 1st - 6th place. $5/class. The show is FREE to watch, so come join the fun!
Winter Wonderland Classes:
The Timed Obstacle Course class will be over 8 obstacles inluding: walk through "L" shape, trot poles (in a walk or trot), weave through cones, go over cross-rail, go over cavaletti (6"), move raincoat, 360 degree turn in box, & walk over bridge. Faults will be given for obstacles not completed.
The Show Jumping Mini-Prix will be a preliminary qualifying round immediately followed by a jump-off round. The preliminary round will be timed over a course of 8 jumps with faults given for run-outs, refusals & knockdowns. Riders with a clean round will advance to the jump-off, which is a course of 5 fences where the horse & rider with the fastest time and the least amount of faults wins. The height of the fences will be determined by the horse & rider, and all heights will be judged together. This class is fun even if you don't jump because any horse can walk over a cross-rail!
Ride-A-Buck has nothing to do with jumping, and everything to do with dollar bills! For this game, we use monopoly money placed between the riders leg and the horse, and the rider that keeps their "buck" the longest is the winner. Riders will compete at whatever gait they feel comfortable, and the class will include an option for walk, trot/gait & canter.
Team Flag Relay Race will be one round of flag relay where everyone entered in the class is randomly split into two teams. Riders have to go one at a time & grab a flag, take it down to the end of the arena & try to drop it in a bucket before returning to the start. This class is judged for accuracy & speed, so there can be two winners! The team with the fastest time wins for speed, and the team with the most flags in the bucket wins for accuracy.
Egg & Spoon is one round where the riders hold a spoon with an egg on it, and the rider who keeps their egg the longest wins. Riders will compete at whatever gait they feel comfortable, and the class will include an option for walk, trot/gait & canter.
1st through 6th place ribbons will be awarded to the horse/rider combinations with the most points on showday. For the Team Flag Relay Race, 3 points are given to every rider on the winning team for accuracy, and 3 points are given to every rider on the winning team for speed. For every other class in the Winter Wonderland Show the points will be: 1st place - 6 points, 2nd place - 4 points, 3rd place - 3 points, 4th place - 2 points, 5th place - 1 point, and 6th place - 1/2 point.
We hope to see you on Showday!

2009 Show Jumping & Cross-Country Horse Show Series
The 2009 Fall Festival Open was a perfect finish to the season. Due to wet weather conditions, we had to run our Jumper classes in the indoor arena, and we replaced our 2 Cross-Country rounds with an indoor timed Obstacle Course. The Jumper rounds rode very smoothly, and the Obstacle Course was extremely popular. The audience & competitors alike were impressed with the rider's & horse's ability to adjust to the new format, and everyone was on the edge of their seats wondering who was going to end up on top. Despite the weather, everyone had a great time!
Our 5th Annual Summer Show was a huge hit. Everyone enjoyed the friendly competition, and some new friends joined us as riders & spectators. The summer show exemplified why Myhio Haven Horse Farm is the place to come for fun, pressure-free showing, great food (thanks to Theresa Gifford & the Portsmouth Brew Pub!), and even greater company! What a wonderful celebration for our landmark 5th year of Horse Shows!
The 2009 Spring Jubilee Open was big, and everyone benefitted from this year's 2-day format. The weather was perfect for Saturday and Sunday, and the atmosphere was as warm and welcoming as the weather! All the riders were encouraging and friendly to each other, and everyone was impressed with the caliber of riding this season. OUR ONE OF A KIND HORSE SHOW FORMAT
This show series is unique in offering speed classes, where competitors are objectively judged against the clock. Riders enter the ring one at a time and are timed over a course of jumps. The rider with the best time, including penalty faults for run-outs, refusals and knockdowns, wins. Riders are eliminated for going off-course or falling.
There are 3 Height Divisions: Beginner--18", Introductory--2'-2'3", and Intermediate--2'6"-2'9". There are 4 classes in each division: 2 Jumper classes over different courses of stadium jumps and 2 Cross-Country classes over different courses of logs and natural obstacles in each division. Competitors can choose to enter just one class, or the entire division. There are no restrictions on entries competing in more than one height division.
Show Jumping classes have 2 rounds. In the preliminary qualifying round, riders have to make a clean round with no penalty faults to advance to the 2nd round Jump-off over a different short course where the fastest time with the fewest faults, wins.
Cross-Country classes consist of a single round where the competitor with the best time including faults wins.
Our Show is extremely beginner friendly. We walk the course with all the beginner competitors, and give them all the same advice, answering questions along the way. Open Schooling of the Jumper and Cross-Country Courses is allowed on Showday until the courses are posted (15 min. prior to class). There is no Time Allowed, so competitors may take as long as they like to complete the course.
$12/class. Ribbons are awarded to 1st - 6th Place. Champion Ribbons are awarded to the competitor with the most points in their division for the show. Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion trophies are awarded at the end of the season to the competitor with the most points in each height division from all the shows combined.

Competitors can bring their own horses or ride one of ours. Riders using our horses must be pre-approved in a Lesson. The Use of Horse fee for each show is $25. We are limiting our horses to 8 classes per day, and the Use of Horse Fee for the show will be $25 -- make sure your reserve your horse early! Horses may be reserved for the entire season, but if, for some reason, the rider has to miss the show, the Use of Horse Fee is nonrefundable. The haul-in fee is waived for Horse Shows. There is a $25 Non-Showing Fee for horses hauling in but not showing. Stalls can be reserved in advance for horses hauling in for $30/day including bedding, a bucket and a fan.
There is no dress code. Helmets are required when mounted. Safety vests are recommended for Cross-Country.

The 2010 Show Series will be great family fun, with free water and drinks available all day. The show is free to watch, and is great fun for the audience—so, come and witness brave horses and daring riders compete over a course of different obstacles!
