West Peckham - 12th February 2006
When it's raining and cold very few people turn up. 3 to be precise. Robin, Kevin and me.
Even the car park gets very muddy. Sensible people go home (Kevin and Robin). Stupid people go exploring (me).
There is no direct road to West Peckham Ford
And when it is raining, such tracks tend to get worse ...
And when you do find some Fords, they can be a little disappointing ....
Wading along muddy tracks gets tiring and eventually my bike decided to lie down for a rest ....
Now the photos stop for a bit.
The next thing I learned is that BMW F650 GS's are very heavy.
They are also very difficult to pick up on your own.
It is hard to pick up a bike when you cannot get a firm footing and the bike keeps sliding away from you.
Mind over matter is a fact. On the fifth attempt I managed to get it upright.
3 point turns are very difficult once your tyres are totally clogged with mud and the track is not level.
Eventually I managed to turn around and head for home.
Next lesson, if you hang your crash helmet and gloves in a tree, make sure you can find firm ground to stand your bike on so that you can get them back.
Ok, so my back hurts and my legs are very tired.
Oh yeah, forgot to say I left my mobile phone at home and was getting pretty desperate at one point !
Most important lesson - don't go off road on your own !!!!
Final lesson - don't ride with you flip-up helmet open as you go under low hanging trees. (no photo of this either)
