We took the Eurostar direct to Brussels city centre, then spent a long weekend exploring the city, eating chocolate and drinking local beer!

A chance to chill out for a few days before the kids returned to University.

Nile Cruise, Egypt 2010
Starting from Luxor we went to the Valley of the Kings, then cruised south to Aswan visiting temples and tombs every day. Astonishing structures, sculptures and carvings.

On the last day we took a hot air balloon ride over Luxor.

Lake District & Scotland 2010
Motorcycle tour of the UK, stoping in the Lake District, Scotland, Isle of Skye and the Yorkshire Dales.

Italy 2010
Anna, Anneka and James take a skiing trip to La Thuile in Italy.

Jamaica 2009
We stayed in Runaway Bay on the northern coast of Jamaica. Took a bus ride to Nine Mile, the birth and resting place of Bob Marley, climbed Dunn's River Falls, took a zip-line canopy tour and went river tubing, rented a jeep and drove west to Negril and east to Port Maria, stopping at James Bond Beach.


Germany and Poland 2009
Through France, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany to Poland. An interesting and thought provoking trip. We stayed in Colditz Castle, visited Stalag Luft III (location of The Great Escape), Auschwitz and the Salt Mine in Wieliczka. Almost 2,300 miles in 9 days.

Iceland 2008
Starting in Reykjavic, we flew north to Akureyri and began our tour in a Suzuki 4x4. We went white water rafting in Vermahild, then toured around the island in a clockwise direction. We rode snowmobiles across the Vatnajoekull Glacier and saw the icebergs float out to sea at Jokulsarlon. We visited Geysir, the Gullfoss waterfall, Thingvellir and of course the Blue Lagoon as well as too many geo-thermal sites, volcanos and waterfalls to attempt to mention.


Spanish Pyrenees 2008
Horizons Unlimited Mountain Madness event - a two-day, no GPS, orienteering event in the eastern Pyrenees of Catalunya, Spain. A test of map reading and navigation skills, attempting to find checkpoints scattered in obscure (off-road) places.

Tunisia 2008
We stayed near Monastir. We took a tour around some of the more famous sights; El Jem Roman ampitheatre; Troglodyte homes near Matmata (where Star Wars was filmed), took a Camal ride in the Sahara near Douz, a 4x4 drive in the Atlas Mountains and we rented off-road buggies near Sousse.

Tirol, Dolomites and Alps 2007
A 10 day motorcycle tour in the mountains of Austria, italy and Switzerland. A real mix of glorious sunshine and freezing cold ran/sleet/snow storms. Fantastic roads (including the infamous Stelvio Pass), spectacular scenery and an opportunity to stand at the foot of a glacier.

Ireland 2007
We stayed approx halfway betwwen Dublin and Belfast. We visited the Giants Causeway, crossed the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, the Newgrange burial mounds and of course, a visit to the Guinness Brewery.

Mexico 2007
Swimming in the cenotes (fresh water in limestone caverns), visiting the Mayan pyramids, Quad Bikes through the jungle, and the Eco Park at Xel Ha.

France 2006
Road trip - approx 1,500 miles. Parc Asterix and Paris. Futuroscope. Les Gouffre de Padirac (underground caves). Some time on the beach in the Vendee and finally visits to Mont St Michel and the Bayeux Tapestry.

Picos 2006
A week long motorcycle tour of the Picos mountains in northern Spain. Great roads and off-road tracks.

Egypt 2006
Snorkelling in the Red Sea and Quad Bike rides through the canyon near Taba Heights.
Hong Kong 2005
A chance to visit family and friends.>

Western USA 2005
Road trip - approx 2,500 miles. We started in San Francisco, then Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, Mammouth, Death Valley, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Lake Havasu and finally Los Angeles.

Morocco 2005
A 10 day 'mad dash' from London to Marakesh and back, including crossing the Atlas Mountains off-road and the northern edge of the Sahaha Desert.

Bulgaria 2004
Christmas in Bansko. We all had fun until Anna fell and damaged her knee on the last day.

Florida 2004
First week in the Florida Keys. Snorkelling off John Pennecamp reef, canoeing through the mangroves, swimming with Dolphins and a visit to an alligator farm.
Second week in Orlando and visits to Disney and Universal Studios.

Netherlands (Center Parcs) 2004
We made 2 visits to Center Parcs in the Netherlands this year. They have an indoor ski slope where Anna, Anneka and James learned to ski. We also had basic scuba training, as well as spending time cycling and playing other sports.


Antigua 2003
Great beaches. Fantastic snorkelling on the coral reef. James caught his first fish off the back of a catamaran.

France, Italy, Switzerland and Germany 2002
Road trip - almost 3000 miles in 19 days.
Paris, st Tropez, Monte Carlo, Pisa, Rome, Venice, Interlaken and Trier.
Highlights included a visit to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Colliseum, the Ferrari factory, a Gondola ride, the Jungfrau mountain railway and walking inside the glacier.
