Lawrence of Arabia Tour - 4th June 2006

Yet another attempt to mix a bit of history and purpose with a day out on motorcycles.

T.E.Lawrence, perhaps better known as Lawrence of Arabia, was killed in a motorcycle accident in May 1935. This is the last known picture of him sitting on his Brough Superior.

His grave is located in the small village of Moreton close to where he lived in a small cottage at Clouds Hill. The cemetry is easily missed, but it has a very distinctive gate at the entrance, looking like a small temple, with white pillars on either side. The modest grave is at the very back of the cemetry and is simply marked "T.E.Lawrence", there is no mention of his famous past.

By coincidence a classic bike enthusiast was visiting on the same day on his immaculately restored Brough Superior.

Historical and cultural interest satisfied, it was time to find somewhere to play.

A little water is all that is required to keep GS'ers happy.

Tim of course decided to make his own route and ventured further than anyone else.

All seemed OK until he stalled the engine ...

All smiles in the end (best not to mention the flooded engine)
