8.6 mile course, begins and ends on pavement, in
between it's a dirt path no more than 3 feet wide. Elevation gain of more
than 2,100 feet. Turnaround point is at Orchard Camp, 4.3 miles from race
start. Much of the race is on the Mt. Wilson Trail, with occasional
vertical drop-offs of several hundred feet. Emergency support is stationed
along the course to provide aid, if needed. Boy Scout and Cub Scout troops
provide water at two locations, the 2.3 and the 4.3 (turnaround) mile marks.

March 8, 2010 Dear MWTR Participant: Happy running. A few things: Race Entries Now Being Accepted! Please find attached the entry form for the 2010 Mt. Wilson Trail Race, scheduled for Saturday, May 29. Get it in soon; entries have just started to be taken and we are already one-third full. Saturday Training Runs Going Strong Join in on the fun (?) every Saturday morning, as Eric LeClair and his Team Crossfit staff trains MWTR runners for the big race. This is a great way to get race ready, the people are fun and best of all, it’s free! The runs start promptly at 7:00A from Kersting Court . We Need Your Old Shoes! The Sierra Madre Arts Commission is running with an idea (sorry, couldn’t help it) of mine for this year’s MWTR Art Show. Kids in the neighborhood will be decorating old running shoes and displaying them in Kersting Court on the night of the pasta feed and the day of the race. Please drop your old shoes off with Adam Matsumoto at the Sierra Madre Recreation Center or call him at 626-355-5278. Clean out those closets! Debbie, Get Your Gun! I am proud to announce that this year’s official race starter will be Debbie Henderson, who is in charge of all the archives at the Sierra Madre Library. She has helped us in the past to find images and photographs we have used in marketing materials and the race T-shirts. And this year she was instrumental in helping to put together the great new book by Michele Zack, “Southern California Story: Seeking the Better Life in Sierra Madre.” We thought Debbie would be a great tie-in to the race, as it is one of the town’s true historical treasures.
