The MVP Morning Show Season 3 has begun! Six new anchors, one sports anchor and two field reporters have joined the Magruder Video Production Family, as seniors graduate from Magruder High School! The new anchors will finish out the year and continue their work in August 2008. MVP would like to wish all the Class of 2008 Graduates a hearty congratulations on their successful Magruder HS careers and good luck wherever life may take them!

On Wednesday, May 7, 2008, Magruder Video Production held its first annual End of the Year Celebration and Banquet at Norbeck Country Club in Rockville. Over 45 students, parents, teachers, and other guests attended. An outstanding dinner and dessert bar were followed by guest speakers, a picture slideshow, a presentation of student films, a Survivor: Magruder presentation, and a student awards ceremony. Magruder Video Production students Jeremy Jacoby, Mike Lewis, Alex Mola, Andrew Nardella and Lalita Vayavananda will be attending the Montgomery County Media Festival on Thursday, April 18, 2008. The students entered the competition with "The Green Krew's Recycle Rap" video as a persuasive video. Look here for the results of the competition in the future.

On Friday, March 14, 2008 Magruder Video Production launched its new ad campaign: Now You Know. These short commercials will air during The MVP Morning Show for the remainder of the year. MVP will also feature spoofs of other commercials to feature on the morning show. All of these videos will be available online.

MVP's Green Krew will release their first single on March 14, 2008. The Green Krew, led by Jeremy Jacoby, Alex Mola and Andrew Nardella will also make their television debut on March 14, 2008 on The MVP Morning Show.

Survivor: Magruder continues to air weekly as Friday Specials. Unfortunately, due to the size and quality of the videos, uploading them for online viewing is a slow process. They will be available once the problems are worked out. Until then, you can keep up on who has been voted off the series with the Tribal Council Chart (Adobe PDF). Stay warm! MVP sports jackets are available to producers, studio crew, alumni, and cast of specials. The black nylon jacket with gold piping will feature a Colonel logo with "Magruder Video Production" text on the left-chest. Jackets can be personalized with names or positions. The deadline for the first wave of jacket orders was today. The second wave of jacket orders will be taken in February 2008. Jackets should be worn on club picture day later in January! The MVP student Secret Santa Gift Exchange will take place Friday, December 21, 2007 during first period. Please remember to purchase a $5-10 gifts for your friend. Magruder Video Production students held a mini photoshoot yesterday, December 4, 2007. Student actors and crew members from the Fall/Winter Friday Specials were photographed for promotional purposes. Other student actors included AFG's Claire Simon and Alex Smoot, SAW: Magruder's Ujan Basu and Dan Benzion, Fight PSA's Christine Cook, Lindsay Gil, Colin Sommers, Joey Schaefer, Alex Mola and Jeremy Jacoby. Magruder Video Production and Magruder Film Club students attended the Tenth Annual Rehoboth Beach Film Festival in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware from November 9th-11th. Domestic and international independent films were featured as well as college-student films. Magruder students did not submit any films to this festival but will enter submissions in 2008 to various high school competitions and local media festivals.

NBC 4 Sports News Anchor, Dan Hellie, visited Magruder Video Production last week. He spoke to the students about his early life, career in broadcasting, and concluded his visit in the control room, watching the live-broadcast of the MVP Morning Show. Hellie was impressed with the student-production and offered feedback to enhance the show.

On Monday, October 15th, iTV's Neil Rubino, Todd Hochkeppel, Mark McKittrick and Sowande Tichawonna worked collaboratively with MVP Senior Producer Mike Lewis for a second time to tape Homework Hotline Live! and diversity segments to air on Cable channel 33. Over twenty Magruder students from all grade levels were selected to represent our school to appear on-camera.

(Magruder Film Club - MFC)
Come join Magruder Film Club (MFC) on Wednesdays after school in Room B-110! Explore multiple aspects of filmmaking from the student point - of - view. Learn how to operate cameras, perfect editing skills, watch video clips & movies, critique student films, discover indie films, and much, much more. The meetings start promptly at 2:30pm and last until 4:00pm. There is a $10.00 club fee to cover the cost of snacks, materials (i.e. miniDV tapes, camera rentals), movie tickets, and carpool. If film interests you or you would like to learn in a chill, low-key atmosphere, MFC is for you. See Ms. Harper or Mike Lewis with questions. Click here for the list of MFC Officers.

On Friday, September 21st, MVP aired the special: Who Are They?: Welcome New Teachers and Staff. Sophomores Emily Gillikin and Julie Drennan put together this latest feature in a matter of days. Well-received by the students and staff of Magruder, viewers were able to watch new staff members Mrs. Planchon, Mr. Newman, Ms. Mahoney, Mrs. Malik, and Mr. Warner.
