  • SEPTEMBER 2007 -- Carl Holmquist, composer of From the Banks to the Blue Ridge from Music from the Hill 2005, has had a second work contracted for publication by C. Alan Publications. Carl's concert band work Kirby: to my hero, which was commissioned by a 9th grade band from Shakopee, Minnesota, pays tribute to the late, legendary Minnesota Twins center fielder Kirby Puckett. Congratulations to Carl on this achievement!
     
  • MAY 2007 -- Congratulations to Matthew Peterson, whose chamber opera The Binding of Isaac has been named a winner of the prestigious BMI Student Composer Awards. The BMI Student Composer Awards, held annually since since 1951, are among the world's top young composer competitions, and 11 former winners have gone on to win the Pulitzer Prize in Music. Matthew's string orchestra work Veturnaetur was featured on Music from the Hill 2005.
     
  • MAY 2007 -- Carl Holmquist, whose band composition From the Banks to the Blue Ridge was featured on Music from the Hill 2005, will have his band work Play published by C. Alan Publications. Play will be his first commercially published work.
     
  • APRIL 2007 -- Carl Schroeder, whose band composition Agora was included on Music from the Hill 2005, will have his holiday-themed choral work Two December Carols published by Boosey & Hawkes. Two December Carols will be his first commercially published work.
     
  • FEBRUARY 2007 -- On February 8, 2007, the St. Olaf Band premiered the masquerade ballet, a work for piano and concert band by Jake Fitzpatrick, whose piano solo tokata was featured on Music from the Hill 2005. He will be the featured piano soloist for the masquerade ballet. Read more at the St. Olaf website.
     
  • FEBRUARY 2007 -- Matthew Peterson, whose string orchestra work Veturnaetur was featured on Music from the Hill 2005, has had his first work published. His SATB choral work The Bedtime Prayer is now available from Hinshaw Music. Visit Matthew's website for more information.
     
  • OCTOBER 2006 -- Congratulations to Matthew Peterson, whose string orchestra work Veturnaetur was featured on Music from the Hill 2005, on the news that his chamber opera The Binding of Isaac has been named one of three finalists for the biannual National Opera Association Chamber Opera Competition. He has also recently launched a new website at www.matthew-peterson.com.
     
  • OCTOBER 2006 -- Carl Holmquist, whose band composition From the Banks to the Blue Ridge was featured on Music from the Hill 2005, has won the 2006 Claude T. Smith Memorial Band Composition Contest for his band work Play.
     
  • AUGUST 2006 -- Jeremy Anderson, whose composition Production R was featured on Music from the Hill 2005, has released Voices, a new CD of original music for layered voices. Check it out on CDBaby or visit Jeremy's website for more info.
     
  • JUNE 2006 -- Carl Schroeder, whose band composition Agora was included on Music from the Hill 2005, has released a new CD of original piano music titled 88 Keys. Visit his website for more information.
