- SEPTEMBER 2007 -- Carl Holmquist, composer of
From the Banks to the Blue Ridge from Music from the Hill 2005,
has had a second work contracted for publication by
C. Alan Publications. Carl's
concert band work Kirby: to my hero, which was commissioned by a 9th
grade band from Shakopee, Minnesota, pays tribute to the late, legendary
Minnesota Twins center fielder Kirby Puckett. Congratulations to Carl on this
achievement!
- MAY 2007 -- Congratulations to Matthew Peterson, whose
chamber opera The Binding of Isaac has been named a winner of the
prestigious
BMI Student Composer Awards. The BMI Student Composer Awards, held
annually since since 1951, are among the world's top young composer
competitions, and 11 former winners have gone on to win the Pulitzer Prize in

the masquerade ballet, a work for piano and concert band by Jake
Fitzpatrick, whose piano solo
