  Composer's Notes
"Veturnaetur" is the old Norse holiday of "Winter Nights," the last two weeks in October. It was a dark time of supernatural events, but also a time for weddings and celebration. The musical material of this piece is derived from a four note motive and employs idiomatic string techniques to capture the mood of this foreboding time of year.

  Composer Biography
Matthew Peterson is a B.M. Theory/Composition and Double Bass performance major from Grand Forks, ND. In the future, he plans to compose for a living, but maintains an interest in pursuing conducting and performance opportunities. In his free time, he enjoys bowhunting and spending time in the outdoors with his friends and family.
