Anne Paulson, Bob Cline, Chris Renk - clarinet

The Violets is based on a piano sketch I wrote last spring. Its lush harmonies and close texture immediately brought clarinets to mind. To me, the piece is a meditation on the nature of passion.

Christopher Renk is a sophomore majoring in Theory/Composition and Music Education. He grew up in Iowa City, Iowa where he studied clarinet with his mentor, Professor Himie Voxman.
