Say For Instance a Pomegranate

Josh Lawson

Track 10 - 04:21

MIDI/Disklavier

In a work of Materials, the third movement Say For Instance A Pomegranate is the stuff that dreams are made of. Not to be taken too seriously, Pomegranate occurs when the player falls asleep at the keyboard and it continues to compose on its own. The piano momentarily finds its stride in counterpoint, and then fails several attempts at variation. Ultimately it is only after a few delicious power chords and some mechanical dexterity that the work is finished, to the wonder of the drowsy performer.

Joshua Lawson is a BA Theory/Composition major from St. Paul, MN. He is a bassoonist by nature and intends to spend the rest of his life composing for fun and profit. It is his reasoning that there are more rich and famous composers than there are rich and famous bassoonists.
