MUSICA VERA - jANUARY 2018
The Choir was
founded in 1964 by Graham Smallbone, Director of Music at Dean Close
School, Cheltenham. The Choir meets on Wednesday evenings during
term-time to rehearse for at least three concerts a year in Cheltenham
in March/April, July and December. It aims to tackle a wide and varied
repertoire including lesser known choral works, often unaccompanied,
with some concerts being joined by organ or small orchestra. A donation from the proceeds raised at
each concert is given to a local Charity. In 2009 the Choir was
delighted to be awarded The Cheltenham Opera Group Cup by Cheltenham
Arts Council for enterprise and innovation in music making.
Musica Vera is affiliated to Cheltenham Arts Council and Making Music.

MUSICA VERA CAMERATA
the past few years ensembles consisting of a core of talented players
from orchestras in Gloucestershire, as well as further afield, have come
together to accompany our concerts. It was therefore decided that for
our concert in March 2013 our orchestra should be given the name Musica
Vera Camerata. Our aim is to issue a first call to the members of this
core, when programming demands an instrumental ensemble, which usually happens once a year.
