Cut Out Cakes
As many people have asked me for these, I have
added the directions for the cut out cakes here. These directions
originate from a cake book from my grandmother and is dated 1959. They
are all quick and simple to do and they use the basic pan shapes, round, square
and rectangle. Sorry, they may take a while to download. The pictures at
least show you the basic cuts for the cake, then you can decorate as you like.
Most of these are covered in icing and then covered in toasted and/or tinted
coconut. The eyes, nose, eyelashes, saddle strings etc. are pieces of candy,
licorice laces, hard round candies etc. If you would like the individual
patterns, let me know and I can e-mail any of them individually to you. This is
a great way for a beginner to gain self confidence. Years ago I had
made a few of them but the kids keep asking for bigger and better every
