Here will be listed our own personal list of "pet peeves" (no pun intended). This page will be filled with issues that we believe more people need to be made aware of, such as:

1.THE CHINESE FUR TRADE INDUSTRY: and the accepted practice of skinning their animals alive! It is a popular and accepted belief that the fur will shed less if the animal is still alive when they literally tear (not cut) his skin off. Whats even worse, if you can imagine anything worse than that, is that AFTER the animal is skinned, it is still alive but nevertheless THROWN into a pile of other living skinless animals and allowed to die a slow torturous death, all the while "good" citizens stand around jabber-jawing, laughing and carrying on "business as usual" as if nothing could be more natural in the world than having a pile of living ,skinless and oftentimes footless animals(for some cut the feet off before skinning) lying about, wrything, twitching in pain, moaning, wimpering, eyes blinking and dying a slow agonizing death at your feet. My question is, why not kill them and put them out of their misery AFTER you have skinned them alive? Why prolong their agony by throwing them alive into a pile when you are done ripping their skins off? Dont believe me that such things happen on a daily basis in a 'civilized" country like China? I dare you to watch this video taken by hidden camera by the good folks at the Environmental & Animal Society of Tiawan (E.A,S.T., International) - and not come away thoroughly appalled. WARNING TO THE FAINT HEARTED or easily disturbed, THIS VIDEO IS VERY GRAPHIC and very well may cause you nightmares, but we feel this video NEEDS to be circulated and used as an educational tool documenting mans inhumanity & indifference to the suffering of non-human animals.  If you do decide to view it, remember as you are watching, that this is the country in which will be held the 2008 Olympics. Graphic as this video is, there are more disturbing ones circulating around; as bad as it appears in this vid, the extent of cruelty at these places is not fully shown in this particular vid; Imagine it to be worse than actually shown here.

2. THE ASIAN NOTION OF “TORTURED” MEAT: 

It is generally well known that many in Asian countries eat cat & dog meat. We wont talk about the terrible way they are treated and/or kept or the terrible methods they use to kill and cook the poor creatures.  That is a whole 'nother story. What is not generally known is the Asian notion of "tortured" meat. It is a popular and accepted belief that torturing the animal prior to butchering gives the consumer "sexual powers" like an aphrodesiac.

It is not so much their secret policy of "mass euthansia" of healthy, young, adoptable animals, its the TAKING of them under FALSE PRETENSES that really gets me.   

4. THE HIGH COST OF EQUINE EUTHANSIA:  More to come on this subject.   

5. THE HIGH COST OF SPAY & NEUTER FOR DOGS & CATS:    More to come on this subject also.

6. RODEO FOLK WHO FAIL TO EUTHANIZE MORTALLY INJURED ANIMALS  "on the spot," but instead, drag them from the arena alive and suffering, out of the public eye, where the animal continues to suffer while waiting to be shipped off to the slaughterhouse after the show; (the animals need to arrive at the slaughterhouse alive). These seriously injured rodeo animals need to be humanely euthanised instantly "on the spot" much as race horses are when seriously injured during the race;  - the euthansia must be IMMEDIATE and done in FULL VIEW of the audience...as is THE RIGHT THING TO DO and sends a MESSAGE TO THE PUBLIC  that any un-necessary suffering of animals will not be tolerated. Click here to see videos of examples of mortally wounded animals being dragged, shoved, pushed, pulled, prodded, rolled, kicked and dragged out of the arena ......... out of sight from the audience, to wait in pain for a later death in a slaughterhouse:

You'll have to watch this one, below, most all the way through,(aprox. 5 min)  til you get to the part near the end that says, "THE INJURIES - DENIED" to see mortally wounded animals being dragged off.....You can be sure that they arent being dragged off to the vet; - they will wait and suffer silently "in the wings' out of sight of the audience, until someone gets darn good and ready to haul them off to slaughter:

7. PETITIONS

Here you can sign a "Care2' petition submitted by The World Society for the Protection of Animals, calling for all governments to announce or decree a "Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare." We think a great idea and long overdue. Why? Ask Ghandi, or The Dali Llama, or Abe Lincoln, Kant, Albert Schweitzer, etc..... .
