Club Events & Activities

Club meetings are normally held on the first Thursday of each month, usually at Crawford Z Car Service in Downtown Nashville (see the Meetings and Events page for details).  We meet to plan activities which appeal to our members and Z owners from around the region as well.  With nearly 70 club members, representing all five generations of the Z car, we typically have at least 20-25 members participate in planned activities.

We engage in various activities, which are organized by our club and other local or regional Z car or other car clubs.  Included are car shows and exhibitions, autocrosses, high-performance road course track events, drag racing and the National ZCCA (Z Car Club of America) conventions.

CAR SHOWS & EXHIBITIONS put on by the Smoky Mountain Z Club in Knoxville (Fall), the Tennessee Spokes Car Club in Nashville (Spring), the Frosty Wheels Car Show in Franklin, TN (January), the Bellevue Cruiser's Cruise-In (April-October) are events we regularly attend to help promote our club as well as to support the club hosting the event.  Our members also attend the National Z Car Convention, which is a week-long event held annually in different cities across the country.

REGIONAL Z CAR EVENTS such as Z Days At Tail of the Dragon in North Carolina, and the annual AMAZE (Another Multi-Club Annual Z Event) event we do in conjunction with the Georgia Z Club (Atlanta) and the Smoky Mountain Z Club (Knoxville) are always well attended by our members.  These events include a car show or exhibition, drive-arounds, group parties and dinners and great camaraderie with other Z owners from around the country.

AUTOCROSSES & HIGH PERFORMANCE DRIVING EVENTS are organized by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), the Tennessee Spokes Car Club or other clubs or organizations here and elsewhere.  We have been to Atlanta Motor Speedway (yes, the NASCAR track), Road Atlanta, Roebling Road in Savannah,GA, Virginia International Raceway, Barber Motorsports Park near Birmingham,AL, Little Talladega in Alabama, the Music City Drag strip, Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green,KY, the Nashville Superspeedway and other tracks as well.  These are extremely safe events which allow us to explore the performance potential of our Zs in a controlled environment, and have a blast too!  The road trips to and from the out-of-town events are always great too.

Members At A Club Cookout

CLUB COOKOUTS & DINNERS are held several times a year, and are a fun way to get together with our fellow Z enthusiasts.  Food, fun and Zs seem to go together.

MIDDLE TENNESSEE Z CLUB'S ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY for club members and their families is held in early December, where we typically fry some turkeys, bring some pot-luck dishes and just have a good time with friends and family.

History

The Middle Tennessee Z Club is mostly about having fun, whether it be at a car show or exhibition, club road trip, performance driving event, a cookout, or just getting together with other Z enthusiasts.

The club is run by its members on various committees, with everyone providing input and suggestions for club activities.  We have no "elected" officials.  Everyone fills a niche to make things happen on a voluntary basis.

This club truly belongs to its members.

Jim Leutgens is our club Founder.  He started the club in July 1999, when he relocated to Nashville from North Carolina, where he had founded Wilmington's Cape Fear Z Club.

The club has 4 elected officers, and a group of volunteers who work on the following areas of focus:

Membership Development, Event Planning, Website Development/Member Communications, Meeting Planning/Logistics and Financial Planning.

This group reports to the members at our monthly meetings and through our email newsletter called ZNEWZ and by updates on our website.

This structure allows our members to participate in areas of interest and gives a far greater number of members the opportunity to take an active role in our club.
