Join us on a 10-day educational and cultural tour to the Barlovento area of Venezuela along the eastern coast next to the Caribbean sea.

Around June 22-25, drummers from all over the African diaspora meet in this region to celebrate the Fiesta of San Juan, St. John the Baptist.

Our tour will include the following activities in Barlovento

- Visit to Juan Pablo School, named after the father of Afro-Venezuelan thought

- Visit to a Cocoa Plantation and a Cocoa Processing Plant

- Visit to a Plantain Plantation and a local cooperative

-Attendance at the drumming and celebration festivities

- Special presentations about the history of the Afro-Venezuelan movement
