Nevada

I'm not sure who named Nevada, but it doesn't live up to the name too well. Though it's generally too hot for my taste, I do like the beauty of the desert. The gambling portions don't do much for me, though I've been to the casinos in Reno and Las Vegas, I usually head to the desert or mountains when I'm there. The nightclub shows are worth going to - and so is the Liberace museum.

A couple years ago, my friend Michael and I traveled through the southwest in a convertible. This was the entry into Nevada.

A common river view in the Nevada desert. No water at this time (late September) but it looks like it gets pretty wet in the spring.

A resident of the desert. A lot of the cacti have been used as target practice - they don't seem to have been hunted for food.

A little bit of the midwest in the wild west. You can gamble anywhere in Las Vegas - from the airport to convenience stores to cafes.

A night view of the Flamingo Hilton where we stayed. I won quite a bit at the slot machines here - enough to buy flamingo accessories (soap dish, toothbrush holder, etc.) for my bathroom decor. (I love flamingoes!)
