Ms. Trone's K-1 Magical E-Garden

ONCE UPON A DREAM...

Once upon a dream, the K-1 children found some rare seeds buried inside their magical e-garden of learning... As they held these beautiful vibrant seeds of art and yoga in their tiny hands, they felt such joy that they KNEW thay had to plant them right away in a special place where they would be nurtured by the warmth of the sun and the drops of the gentle rain...

Today you have come to this place of WONDER, to our WORLD of ART & YOGA Creations in our e-classroom in the workings...

 WELCOME!

WE ARE STAR CHILDREN:

Nov. 2008

A few days ago we started a unit of study on Native Americans and talked about the idea that Native Americans had many legends related to the origins of stars and the sky.

More K-1 STORIES to WARM your heart...

KETCHUP

Vanessa brought another Show & Tell item to school today.  As we were all sitting in the CIRCLE of FRIENDS, she first asked us to guess what was hiding inside her denim pencil pouch. After many wrong guesses, Vanessa unzipped the pouch and voila...we all stared at a beautiful coral beaded lizard.  'His name is KETCHUP!' Vanessa informed us quickly as she passed him along around the circle. We all fell in love with Ketchup and his denim house...

During library time, Ketchup preferred to sit on Vanessa's shoulders as she needed help to pick up her favorite books.  After she was done checking the books out, I saw the children create this really cool game... They called it KETCHUP THOW UP.  When I asked how the game worked, they told me, 'Ms. Trone, you just throw Ketchup up in the air and then try to catch him in his bag/house. It's that simple.'  I smiled and learned something new today.

IF I STAYED OPEN ENOUGH TO EACH PRESENT MOMENT, I COULD ENJOY MY CHILDREN'S CREATIVE PLAY AND BE INSPIRED BY THEIR MAGIC JOYFUL APPROACH TO LIFE.

SHARING GEMS

It was one of those days.  Every child was putting away their book, game or colored pencils and Ms. Trone was hearing her name called out each second with different questions.  As the K-1 line was getting ready for lunch time, she placed her papers on the desk and asked the children if they remembered to take their water bottles and anything else they needed before the short walk to the cafeteria.

Maddie came up holding a beautiful tiny red gem in her hand. 'Look, Ms. Trone, this is for you. I am sharing mine now. '  Ms. Trone took the small treasure in her hand and placed it on the desk.  What happened next was sort of an amazing parade of joyful sharing... Following Maddie's example, each child came to Ms. Trone sharing their own gem of different color.  Not knowing where these tiny treasures came from, Ms. Trone asked about it. Maddie came forth again: ' Look at my flip flops, Ms. Trone... here, from this side of my shoe I pulled out a bunch of these jewels to share with everyone in our class!'

Ms. Trone stood there in silence, smiling... she looked closer at Maddie's right flip flop. It looked halfway desfigured, yet there was something extraordinary beautiful about it.  It had been ripped apart to share itself the JOY of  giving.

Ms. Trone learned more about her own JEWEL children today. What a blessed moment before lunch!

 JARA THE TORTOISE

Our 2nd-3rd Grade friends have acquired a NEW Classroom Pet... JARA the Tortoise, who is the same kind of African tortoise as GEORGE, our long time AISN friend.

On Friday, September 26th, Ms. Trone and the K-1 children went to visit JARA in his classroom.  We sat in a nice circle on the floor and let Jara choose a child at a time to say Hello to. We had a blast! Look at some of our pictures...

AT THE END OF THE DAY...

OCTOBER 15TH, 2008

We had a busy day today... we read books, did math, spelling, we painted our hearts on canvases again and Ms. Trone was feeling exhausted by the end of the day.  Suddenly, Vanessa came to her desk a few minutes before the bell rang.  She held this piece of paper in her hand and read it to Ms. Trone who became speechless...
