Group History
Msida Sea Scouts Group was re established in 10th July 1998. The idea came up where at that time, the Mayor of Msida Local Council, Dr. C. Grima LLD wanted to open a Scout Group in Msida. Mr. Edgar Borg (Gzira Scout Group Venture Section Leader) was approached by the Scout Island Headquarters(IHQ) and asked to open the said group. Edgar accepted this idea and on the above date the Group was officially opened who was appointed as the Msida Group Scout Leader (GSL).
One must say that Scouting in Msida was not new. Msida had a Scout Group before, but unfortunately it had close in 1966. In 2001 the Group decided to apply with the IHQ to convert the Group into Sea Scout Group. The last Sea Scout Group in Malta had closed some 30 years before. On 10th May 2001 the group was officially as Msida Sea Scouts Group the only sea scout group on the Island.
Today Msida Sea Scouts Group is well establish. The group have about 65 members and leaders. The Group is equiped with a small fleet of canoes and a sailing dinghy and a quarters with a look like of a ship.
