Welcome to our Art Room

This website is dedicated to all my hard working pupils and their amazing talent! Through it I hope to take you on an adventure through the world of art and creative expression. I love being an Art Teacher and I am very proud of my young students. I am hoping this site will grow and change along with our experience.

I teach at Cedar Grove School in south Trinidad, classes Pre K1 through to Grade 5. Cedar Grove is a wonderful school where there is active participation by both staff and parents.  This fosters a productive atmosphere for students and the ideal work environment for teachers. I started teaching in May 2008 and hope to be here for a long time.

In case you are wondering about the name of the site - why "Miss Caramel "???...Well the story is simple:

On my very first day of teaching the younger kids were having trouble prounouncing my name..which was Ms. Arrindell, and one of the little ones blurted out "Can I call you Miss Caramel instead, because you are sweet?". Needless to say I melted and the name stuck.  Some days I get called Miss Chocolate or Miss Vanilla and I really don't mind as long as the kids are happy..heheh! Now that I have a new name the kids have asked if they could still call me Mrs. Caramel!

OUR TIME TABLE

The art time table has been posted here so that you can know which days of the week your children have classes. On Art days please ensure that they bring their Art Bags and most importantly their Art Apron/Smock. Children love to be messy and play with paint, but we don't want them runining their school uniforms. I have kept the art supplies of the PK1 - Upper KG children in the art room.

I want our Art Room to be a place where the kids enjoy themselves, learn how to dream and build their self confidence.  Art touches every imaginable aspect of our lives, and is an important part of any school curriculum. Children need to play, dream, invent, express themselves and be able to relax away from all the pressures of this modern world we live in. With parental input and support we can work wonders! This is one of the main reasons I wanted to set up this site - to act as a bridge between the home and classroom, and provide a forum for the children to 'show off' their work.  Parents ,you are encouraged to contact me with any suggestions or questions you may have.

My e-mail address is : caramelart@gmail.com Please don't be shy!

There are various resources available to you on this site, please click on links on the main menu at the top of the page to naviagate.

I do hope you enjoy the site and check back often with your child to see all the exciting work we are doing. I look forward to hearing from you  on ways we can make this site even better- thank you for being a part of this!

Happy Creating!
