Diagnosed with MS Aug 14, 2007
at the age of 27
I started to make MS Awareness Bracelets the night before my son rode in the Rona's MS Bike Tour Niagara, Aug. 26th, 2007. I made one for my son, my husband and I.
I wanted to show our support for him and Rona's Bike Tour for a Cure, http://www.mssociety.ca/ontario/bike_niagara.htm
He just found out a week and a half before the Bike Tour that he had MS, and it just so happened that his work place had a team riding in the Tour and Chad signed up with them and collected $800.00 in pledges in such a short time.
Niagara's Rona Bike Tour received an astonishing $345,000.00 in pledges that day,, "What an awesome day it was too" the weather was great and everyone made it to the finish line,, Chad gave his team each a bracelet and one thing led to another and in a month I made $100.00 in profits to donate to the MS Society of Canada, Niagara Peninsula Chapter of HOPE. It's not much but every penny they get will bring them that much closer to finding a cure,
Update: Chad is gearing up to ride again, here's his Pledge Page for Rona's MS Bike Tour 2008: https://msofs.mssociety.ca/2008bike/Sponsor.aspx?PID=1014448&L=2
Your support would be greatly appreciated for all who have MS,
You can pledge him, his team or sign up to ride on his team,, it's a great time and for a really good cause,, he's riding the Niagara Falls route
Did You Know
Canadians have one of the highest rates of multiple sclerosis in the world.
MS is the most common neurological disease affecting young adults in Canada.
Every day, three more people in Canada are diagnosed with MS.
Women are more than three times as likely to develop MS as men.
MS can cause loss of balance, impaired speech, extreme fatigue, double vision and paralysis.
We don't know what causes MS but researchers are closer to finding the answer.
Multiple sclerosis can occur at any age. It is usually diagnosed between the ages of 15 to 40, during the career and family building years. It can make its first appearance in young children and in older adults. MS is more than three times as likely to occur in women than in men and is seen most commonly in people of northern European background.
Researchers funded by the MS Society are working to develop new and better treatments.
Besides funding MS research, the MS Society provides services for people who have MS, family members, caregivers and health care professionals.
These services are delivered through the network of divisions and chapters across Canada.
