This is for students who are interested in going beyond the normal classroom expectations. All you have to do is pick a topic, list the answers on paper to hand in, memorize your answer, and then come tell Mrs. DeLeon the answers during a challenge time - during DEAR or recess!

These challenges are voluntary and you can do as little as one or up to one hundred! I ask that you show get permission from your parents so that they realize that this is work for outside the classroom, that it is optional, and that you will most likely use the Internet for some of your research.

Challenges - There are 100 Super Kidz Challenges. Each challenge that is answered correctly will earn you 1 star. You can become a 1-star winner, all the way up to a 100-star winner! The challenges are listed below and you can also print out a copy of them.

Using the Internet - I provided Internet links to help you research the challenges. These are only suggestions and do not have to be used. Remember, the Internet can be accessed by anyone, and even though Mrs. DeLeon has reviewed the sites listed, there is always the possibility that something has been added that Mrs. DeLeon was not aware of when she added the links. Therefore, USE THE INTERNET AT YOUR OWN RISK AND WITH YOUR PARENT'S PERMISSION!

Research Time - I will allow for research time during some of our DEAR time. It may also be possible to occasionally use the computer lab. Most of your time will have to be at home. Remember, this is for those who want to rise to take the challenge!! You may, however, work with a partner, in memorizing your challenge answers. It is fun to quiz each other! Do not, however, give another student your research. Each student must do his own

Rewards for high achievers

Whiz Kidz Stars -- For each challenge you succeed in, you will receive a star on the Challenge board in our classroom. It will remain up for the year.

Hall of Fame -- Once you have become a 15 - star member, you are entered in Mrs. DeLeons' Whiz Kidz Hall of Fame for as long as Mrs. DeLeon teaches. Your name and star will stay on Mrs. DeLeons' wall FOREVER!

Certificates -- At the end of the Whiz Kidz Challenge experience, you will receive a special certificate that shows all the challenges you successfully completed. You will also receive a small prize in recognition of your hard work!

Whiz Kidz MVPs -- At the end of the year, the four highest scoring Whiz Kidz Challenge winners will receive a special prize, along with their certificates. Will you be a Whiz Kidz MVP?
