A united front has been forged between Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. The two have worked for the past several months on creating something of a strategic alliance against internal and external threats, more specifically though the United States and its allies. They speak of the vital nature of protecting their countries from internal and external threats. They are thus choosing to protect themselves through a renewed focus on the Military and its persuasive components. The two state that their fellow countrymen and women should keep their hands on the sword as they prepare to quell these threats with a renewed focus and alliance between their countries.
Now while I am not particularly interested in the immediate ramifications of the VENEZUALAN and BELARUS $*THREAT*$, their belief that imperialism has them in their grips or by the balls, and are squeezing tightly, points to a mode of thinking that is close to my own beliefs. The question I pose here to myself and anyone who cares to read this, and I assume this will be not many...but that’s ok too, is, and here is the clincher, are we as a civilized nation in part of on behalf of a group pushing forth the agenda of a specific class of people over the best interest of other free nations?
This question puzzles me, as I can see both sides here at least in their ideal nature, whether this ideal coincides with the reality I do not know. But I have an idea, and since it is my idea, I will only present the side by which I feel is most important to think about, for my anyways, so here goes. As the World's foremost Super Power ( OO BABY) the United States is framed with the responsibility of dictating policy not just for its own citizens, but also in the foreign sphere. This is not a new development as circa a time period somewhere before World War I, the United States made it quite clear that it would now get involved in foreign affairs and will not be content on residing inside its own borders. What is worrisome to me, and I'm sure to others is that sometimes the ambition of a superpower and other world powers seems to trump the interests of those who are in one way or another not in this class of the powerful.
Now I will not be an idealist and say that I believe that the United States and other powerful nations will see eye to eye with those who are considered third and second world class, but I believe that just because we are more powerful and posses a choke hold on world dynamics and economics we must be weary of using this in such a way as it will end up only profiting us in the short term while potentially FUCKING ( I think I like capitalizing FUCK I shall do this from here on forward), us later on. My belief is that we are currently on the road to getting FUCKED, in so far as we are building resentment around the world, deserving or not as to, our policies, and their methods of enforcement in countries not our own, place the home country interests in an inferior and notably second class position. This is not fair, it may not be possible to be fair, but while I do not fear the wrath or Venezuela or Belarus I do worry that other countries feeling this same pinch and loss of independent structure will continue to formulate a coalition of the FUCKING (Its amazing how useful swears can be) PISSED off, that will leave us in a much less desirable position LONG term than the potential benefits of pushing our policies in the short term may.
*Now this I’m sure if all over the place as it is my first entry I don’t really care but this seems to be the way I think so if you’re going to read this get used to it. Also please feel free to post thoughts or whatever.*
