Intended use
The machine system described below is intended to exclusively perform machining and measuring jobs
on components.
3. ROTATION AXIS
Rotary table body
The rotary table body is made from high-quality cast iron. It accommodates rolling bearing, measuring
system, drive and clamping system.
− Mechanical sealing against dust, coolant and chips
− Body bottom prepared to be installed on the linear axis including nut bracket and surfaces to screw
down the LM blocks.

Axis motion
A nearly backlash free, adjustable worm gear provides the table plate's motion. The worm wheel is made
from wear-resistant bronze. The worm shaft is hardened and ground steel construction. Oil bath
lubricated worm gear. One reduction gear and one servomotor drive he worm shaft. The motor is included
in the scope of delivery.
Axis accommodation
A preloaded, double-acting hydrostatic bearing (with wrap around) provides axial accommodation of the
table plate. The hydrostatic system acts according to the v=constant principle using mechanical volume
flow controllers for the hydrostatic pockets. The axial bearing diameter is approx. 39.4 (1000 mm). One
roller bearing provides radial accommodation. Oil Air cooling unit to keep the oil of the hydrostatic on a
constant temperature. The oil cannot be tempered on a certain degree value.
Mounting surface
The table plate is made from high-quality cast iron.

Hydraulic clamping system
The rotation axis' clamping system consists of hydraulically operated clamping elements. Pressure
switches provide monitoring of the clamping elements. The hydraulic power pack to operate the clamping
elements is directly fastened to the rotary table and included in the scope of delivery.
Measuring system
Absolute rotary encoder of make Heidenhain, type RON 785 C, as direct measuring system on rotation
axis.
Max. cable length must not be longer than 492 feet (150 m).
Corrosion prevention
All bright work protected with adequate anticorrosive paint prior to shipment.
4. LINEAR AXIS
Machine bed
The machine bed designed as high-quality welded structure ensures optimum stiffness. The bottom side
is prepared for erection on a foundation by means of locators. Locators are not included in the scope of
delivery.
Drive
A ball screw with upstream belt drive provides the linear drive of the rotary table. The belt drive is driven
by a servomotor. The motor (SIEMENS) is included in the scope of delivery.

Accommodation
Two linear motion guides provide accommodation of the rotary table on the machine bed to obtain optimal
stiffness.
Measuring system
One absolute length measuring system type LS 186 C from Heidenhain provides the position
measurement.
5. OVERALL ASSEMBLY
Collision issues
Monitoring of collision conditions arising from the component's size and motion is not scope of delivery.
A sealing system at the lower outer table plate edge prevents coolant and chips from penetrating into the
inner table.
Telescopic coverings protect linear axis on both sides. All switches, valves, pumps and motors are
arranged inside this covering.
Energy supply (electric and hydraulic)
Hydraulic ducts and electric cables are led via energy chain with separation webs and strain relief.
One lubricator with piston manifold provides lubrication to the LM blocks. The lubricator is attached to the
machine bed and included in the scope of delivery.
All electric cables are wired to terminal box; except for the motor and angular-position measuring system
cables. The terminal box is fastened at the machine bed. Cables to link the whole table-bed unit to other
units or the control are not scope of delivery.
Rotary table includes complete pipe work. All ducts are led to one bulkhead strip at the machine bed.
Hoses to link rotary table to units (including units pertaining to scope of delivery) are not scope of
delivery.

8. OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT
Cooling system for hydrostatic bearing
For ultra high precision applications an optional cooling system is required to provide cooling for the
hydrostatic bearing. The unit is thermostatically temperature controlled for the optimum balanced cooling.
Cables and hoses to link the system with the table or the machine are not scope of delivery.
