Mr_CoffeeKillers Life Of Bass

5/6/05: Well well, what is this here. Could it be the site I forgot about and when I remembered, forgot the password?! Could well be! Not to worry though, I'm back now and in full effect. Hopefully the updates will be coming thick and fast from here in.

The album is finnished but the cover etc will not be getting finnished. Money just denies me such things but for anyone who wants it at a reasonable price for an hour and 10 mins of bass magic then get in touch!

There has been a lessons site set up for both bass and guitar. Check the links section for it. Lessons4music.com It's for both guitar and bass so make sure you check it out at least once!

Stay frosty :p

25/9/04: Can you believe it? there's been actual progress on the album front. A CD duplicator and thermal printer has been ordered and should be here sometime next week... which means that the album should be out within a month! There's been a few changes and the track list is now up to an impressive 19 tracks, amounting up to about an hour and ten minutes of bassy goodness. nice.

Things have been very busy. Had a solo set at the official opening of the youth centre I take the band night at. All the suits (councilers and the mayor) were there and boy did I feel out of place. Everyone seemed to enjoy what I had to offer and a few interesting comments were made. I've also been attending a Jam session in a neighbouring town. All the old school rockers with their skin tight jeans and snakeskin boots didn't quite know how to take a young guy with a 7 string bass but they soon found out what I was all about and I've made some interesting contacts through that. I also met a drummer that I went to college with at the jam session and have been playing a regular drum and bass set at a band session in a Pub in Ayr.

I've just been real busy trying to get my name out and known. Lets hope all this effort isn't for nothing!

Take care

CK

25/8/04: Lol, well as you may have noticed there's no album... what a cunt. The reason being? money, yup, scuppered by a lack of the green. Not to worry though, I'm still working on getting it out and it will happen, oh yes, just a few months later than planned. The new release date is "when I can"... many appologies to everyone who was looking forward to it and had orders. I'm sure I can work out a deal on the price for everyone who had it ordered ;)

I should be adding a lot more to the site soon. Hopefully a lot more soundclips of exercises and *fingers crossed* a few VIDEOS of the exercises! I find that people always get things visually when they might not get it from text alone. So keep checking back and keep letting me know that you're still alive and I'll do my best to keep this going and more up to date than it has been of late.

Take Care

7/6/04: ARGH! the deadline is closing in fast and things are piling up on top of me at the moment. busy busy busy, I spent about 8 hours yesterday re-mixing and mastering the whole album. A couple of people had the first mix sent to them and they made a list of what could/should be changed so that's what I did and it's a huge improvement! Same as always, if you wanna hear some stuff check the mp3 link or if you wanna order the album, just mail me... check the update below

But in other news I've just recently aquired a Chapman Stick and oh my god, it's quite the intrument. Think of it as a grand piano in guitar form. If you still can't picture it then check this out: http://www.stickist.com

it's quite the site!

Take care people

CK

11/5/04: A new bass has been added to the collection. A Conklin GT-7. If you had trouble telling the difference between the guitar solos and the bass solos it will be a lot harder now! But there's been a strange development with the album... There's too many tracks! that's right. I've ran out of CD room and there's still 2 tracks to be done! It's a better situation to be in rather than writing tunes just to fill up space. It just means the average content will be better than originaly thought... aren't you all lucky people?

P.S. a collage of the album in it's current state has been added to my soundclick so just click the MP3 link and enjoy ;)

10/4/03 UPDATE: So it's been a hell of a week. I thought I had lost everything on the computer. That's the album and 600 hours of work, gone. Turns out it was only the graffics card blowing up so I haven't lost everything... which is nice. Bigger news though. I'll be buying a Conklin GT-7 at the end of the month. Oh yes, that's 7 strings of goodness. It'll be nice to be able to produce decent chordal backing for my tunes. Should bring the album on 10fold that's for sure.

The picture thing on freewebs doesn't seem to be working but I'll get a pic up for you soon.

cheers

CK

11/3/04 UPDATE: So the work has begun. There's a few new bits and bobs to take a look at including the whole new 'Inspiration' section that has some ideas of how to get out of your creative slump. NOTE: the slap and pop indicators (TP) in the text tab examples are not lined up correctly. I'll try and get a better tab up soon.

Don't forget that I'm 'on call' for anyone who has a question. Just mail me, my address is at the bottom. I may not be able to reply straight away but I do try and get back to everyone that gets in touch.

10/3/04 Big Changes: As much as I would have liked to keep everything I do on the net central to one site, the size of the free sites just weren't practical for me. So here it is. I've taken all the general 'me' information and put it into a new home site. Make sure and go check it out. The reason for this is that I want to develop this whole site into a resource and lessons site for all bassists and there just wasn't room for that and all my 'personal' info. So keep checking back and don't forget to check out the new home site.

17/2/04 Album Update:    So what's been happening? a lot has been going on! I've finnished tracks with quite a few people: Adam Vernon, Mike D and Fionn Patrick. All the tracks are better than I could have ever expected and a big thank you to all who have and will be helping with the album. There's still loads of tracks to do and loads has been done. I haven't been this excited about something in a long long time.

If you want to order a copy of the album you can e-mail me your address at mr_coffeekiller@macmail.com and I'll keep you abreast of all the goings on and if everything's going to schedule. I'm pretty sure you can find a rough copy of one of the tracks at soundclick. It's called Yin Yang so if you need a reason to get in touch and order this labour of love then hopefully that'll wet the whistle. Just keep in mind that it is the rough mix ;)

Cheers

CK

29/12/04 Album Update: Things have slowed a little due to technical problems with recording equipment, i.e. my computer! I think everything's sorted now and we're back on track for the 1st of July. I've already recorded with a couple of people and the tracks are looking pretty damn good. Got a great guitarist coming to work with me this weekend and that should produce some great music.

Email Address change! now: mr_coffeekiller@macmail.com

10/12/03News!! So here it is, some info on what I'm planning to do. The short story is that I'm writing an album. I'm planning on having it ready for release on the 1st of August if all goes well. The album will contain lots of various people that I know, are local(or far away) and have much talent to offer. A couple of songs from the album are on my MP3 site. So make sure you go and check it out.

Like everything else, suggestions for what you want to hear on the album are greatly recieved.
