MovieLink: Titles

Where your favorite movies get squooshed into movies you hate!

You WILL become addicted to MovieLink!

MovieLink: Titles is a simple game.  We combine three (or more, if noted) movies into one.  Each day we will give you a new synopsis (click on The SYNOPSIS up at the top) that contains a description of the movie that is a twisted combination of the three movies used, using actors and plot as a guide.  YOUR job is to go to the Forums (up at the top), find the related forum, and guess the full "title" of the "movie" using the rules below.  SHOULD no one guess the title in the time limit, the game will be extended another day, with PICTURES added! Check out the example below the rules.

NEWS:

Scoring, Chegra will rework the scores based on some previous errors, that were his mistake.  This shouldn't be any drastic change to scores.  It will be corrected before the 25th of July.

GO TO THE ALL-TIME SCOREBOARD PAGE FOR COMPLETE LISTINGS!

R  U  L  E  S - A Work in Progress as of June 13, 2008.  Look for more updates soon.

1  - The current, daily synopsis will be posted Monday through Friday around 11:00 a.m. (central), in a new BLOG at The Synopsis page on the left.  Bonus synopses may be posted on the weekend (points from such will only count toward the ALL-TIME Scoreboard).  Check back daily to see what is up. As noted, if a synopsis is extended with pictures, it will remain "in play" until a player guesses it correctly and scores are updated on the all-time scoreboard and weekly scoreboard if the title was still in play.

2  - To post your guess(es), go to the forums and post in the appropriate thread.  Each synopsis will have a #, so if #1 is the current synopsis, post your guess(es) in the #1 thread in the forums. We KNOW that it would be easier to just respond to The Synopsis blog, but by posting answers in the forums instead, we know you are paying attention to the rules, and your answers will not be official unless you post in the forums.

3  - +  S  C  O  R  I  N  G  +

       - Scoring stops when someone has correctly guessed the title, which includes proper spelling by OUR standards.  We will continue to let players guess until 10:00 a.m. (central), and the winner will be posted along with the next day's synopsis.

       - 10 points - Be the first player to correctly guess the title WITH proper spelling.  When this occurs, scoring stops for all players.

       -   5 points - Be the first player to guess the title, but the spelling or order is off.  When this occurs, scoring stops for the player that does this, but continues for all other players .

       -   1 or 2 points   - Properly guess one of the movies in the title.  If you properly guess two of the movies in the title, you receive two points.  Keep in mind...if you guess all three, be sure to arrange them (AND THE SPELLING) properly, as per the scoring rules above.

       -  Points do not stack.  You only get the highest amount of points you achieve.  If you get 1 point for getting one of the movies, then later correctly guess the title, you get 10 points, not 11.

       -  Points are usually tallied when the next puzzle is posted.

       - Title puzzle second-day continuation pix are now in full effect.  If the title has not been guessed, check the appropriate forum for some picture clues.  Should a puzzle be guessed correctly outside of the week it was first pointed, points for the winning player will still be 10, but those 10 points will not count for previous or current week scores, but those 10 points do count toward ALL-TIME scores.

4   - Spelling   -     *NOTE* Please check out the forums on our views on CAPITALIZATION.  Thx.

We are particular about our spelling.  No, it is not because we are grammar whores.  There simply MUST be rules.  Also, spelling and capitalization play a huge part in this game to connect the movies in the title, as well as adding emphasis (see the example below.

Example synopsis: Martin Lawrence stars as a "woman" who is undercover at an overnight party game hosted by Geoffrey Rush at an old asylum in a town abandoned due to underground mine fires.  The plot thickens when they find themselves in a hideous, terrifying version of their own world.  Co-stars Sean Bean, Taye Diggs.

If this title was not guessed on the first go, we would add a pic (in no particular order) from each movie the next day:

Correct answer:  Big Momma's House on Haunted Silent Hill

A twist  on this example would be:

Tom Hanks stars as a boy who, overnight, is transformed into an adult by an undercover crossdresser, played by Martin Lawrence, during an overnight party game hosted by Geoffrey Rush at an old asylum.

The picture below would replace the Silent Hill pic:

Correct answer:  BIG Momma's House on Haunted Hill.

Note that "BIG" is all capital letters.  This is done when a title is completely enveloped in another title.  "House" was not capitalized, though used in two of the movies, because the word is only PART of the title.

Were we to use the movie "House" (not the TV show...we're doing MOVIES here!!!), "Big Momma's House" and "Big", the correct answer would be: BIG Momma's HOUSE.

In the same sense, if our three movies were "Big Momma's House" "House" and "House on Haunted Hill" the correct answer would be: Big Momma's HOUSE on Haunted Hill.

Again, in the same sense, if our three movies were "House on Haunted Hill" "Silent Hill" and "House" the correct answer wouls be: HOUSE on Haunted Silent Hill.

 Get it?
