Welcome to the site!

"Welcome to the Waxwork."

With those words (spoken by a midget butler named Junior, no less), you knew this wasn't going to be your typical horror flick. And "Waxwork" had the perfect blend of fun, (occassional) humor, tongue-in-cheek references and scares, while representing some of the most popular monster characters ever known.

Writer/director/creator Anthony Hickox created the horror movie for Vestron Pictures (which is now out of business and Artisan Entertainment, also now defunct, was now the last to legally own the rights) in 1988 and the low-budget movie has become a cult classic. It has aired occassionally on TV stations and came out on DVD in the fall of 2003 (plug, plug) courtesy of the now-defunct Artisan, paired with its sequel, "Waxwork II: Lost in Time".

The film offers up some great make-up effects by Bob Keen, memorable music by Roger Bellon (which, sadly, has yet to be put out on a CD soundtrack) and great performances from the cast. It has everything a fan of horror films can ask for: fun, excitement, scares and pretty leading ladies (two words back me up on this, folks: Deborah Foreman).

You will notice this site does NOT feature any images that are extremely violent and/or scary to offend any visitors and there is NO profanity or nude images here. Also, you'll notice the features on this site pretty much describes the film, from parts of the story mentioned in the notes and goofs to the character profiles. In other words, if you've never seen the film before, you'll notice key plot points are mentioned on virtually every part of this website. If you haven't seen the movie "Waxwork" yet, you'll need to watch it before you check this site out.

You'll also note that new images from the film have been added, meaning that, until I get new screenshots sent to this site, all of the promised new pics from the movie are on this site now.  Also, news of the once-proposed THIRD "Waxwork" movie (!) is also on this site in the Notes section.

You can also find the fan-script I've written of "Waxwork" is now up in the newly-added Fan Script section of the site and, best of all, the very first ever interview with a cast member is now on this site!  I was lucky enough to ask ten questions to actor Christopher Bradley (Stephan) about the movie and he was nice enough to answer them all.  You can read the interview, which he was nice enough to give his permission to let me put it up on the site, in the Interviews section.  Very special thanks go out to Mr. Bradley for taking the time to chat.

Also, a Very Special Thanks go out to crew members Patrick K. Coppinger and Pat Tantalo, who have replied back and supplied the answers to their interview questions.  You can find their answers the Interviews section (obviously), just under Mr. Bradley's. I've also recently heard from crew member Bruce Barlow, and you can find his own new Interview up as well.

I will have more Interviews coming up soon from some of the crew members who kindly agreed to let me ask them questions (including costume designer Leonard Pollack), so as soon as I hear back from them, I'll put their answers up!

I've also added even more (lame) jokes to the Captions section and some more new notes. I've also received some new photos and would like to give a Very Special Thanks to Anonymous 2 for sending them and allowing me to use them. I really can't thank him enough for all of his help.

I would also like to offer Very Special Thanks to Mr. Pat Tantalo, one of the actual crew members from "Waxwork", for sending me some VERY rare behind the scenes photos for my new section called -- uh, well, Behind the Scenes! You must note that two of the stills so far have Zombies with fake blood on their faces. I have received more incredible stills from him and would like to thank him for all of his help.

There will be more updates will be up on here as soon as I get them, as I currently have all of the content regarding this movie put up on my website (trivia, interviews, screenshots, etc.).

UPDATED 8/19/2007 - I have spoken to a new friend and I might get some all-new "Waxwork" screenshots coming soon, possibly this month. Stay tuned for more news as this develops.

And as you now know, two previous pages and several images have since been removed. The previous pages have been moved, while many photos that were up no longer work (don't ask why - I don't even know!) have been removed. I'm not sure why the images are gone, but I'll do my best to get them back somehow, someday.

UPDATED 9/19/2007 -- Exactly one month to the day since my last update, I've finally gotten some new content, thanks to some good friends of mine. Keep an eye on this site this weekend, as I'll be adding lots of new pictures to this site. Stay tuned...

You can find several things listed in the Notes section now and there will be a few more listed this week. Stay tuned...

UPDATED 2/25/2009: Hey, everyone. I bet you're wondering why the site hasn't been updated yet. Well, the answer to that is quite simple: There's not much to update it with. Still, I'm working hard to fix the images that were lost. Stay tuned for more updates...

We have seals of approvals of this fan site for the film by people FROM the film!!! - Updated 10/2/06

Life doesn't get much better than this.

First, Bruce Barlow (one of the zombies) found out about my website and said kind words about it last year.  That was cool.  Having someone from the movie check it out was the coolest thing I could think of and still is.

Second, the actress who played my favorite character, Sarah - Deborah Foreman herself - has found out about the website... and likes it!  In the fall, I received an email from Miss Foreman.  She heard of the site from Gordon, who runs a website about her (and Gordon, I am still eternally in your debt for telling her of this -- thank you sooooo much!!), and she gave me quite possibly the best, nicest email I've ever received, complementing this site.

My favorite actress in "Waxwork" likes the site.  What could be better than that, you ask?

Then, I got a third reply from actor Chris Bradley (who plays Stephan, the son of the Count in the movie) saying that he too found this fan site and - GASP! - he also likes it!

Three actors from the movie like the site.  How cool is that?!?  How about FIVE actors?

That's right!  Two more of the Zombies have found out about the movie and they like it too!  WOW!  The Zombies are crew members Patrick Coppinger and Pat Tantalo.  Both gentlemen are incredibly nice and have offered to help out with the site themselves!  (Mr. Coppinger has agreed to an Interview, while Mr. Tantalo has sent two VERY rare Behind the Scenes photos, respectively.)

Hmm... Well, that's 3 out of 7 Zombies.  Only four left to go, right?

Next up, this is the big one.  I got one of the nicest emails ever and the biggest seal of approval of them all.  Anthony Hickox himself (the creator/writer/director of both "Waxwork" films) wrote to me last night and -- GASP!!! -- he likes it too!  He told me to "Keep up the great work!"

The creator of Waxwork likes the Fan Site!!!  I can die a happy man now!!!

What more could anyone ask, right?  Well, today, yet another crew member found out about the site -- costume designer Leonard Pollack!  He was very nice when we spoke and he, too, mentioned that he liked the site.  The kind replies from the cast and crew just keep on coming!  This is so cool!

Anyway, I really do want to offer a HUGE Very Special Thanks to the mentioned cast/crew members for taking the time to talk and for commenting on the site.  I'm deeply honored to have been able to, and am still able to, chat with each and every one of you.

A Fond Farewell

As you know,  I have managed to add LOTS of new images to the site and I have added two new web pages to the Links section, including a fan script remake/update of the film!  But this site is possible mainly due to the support of a friend - who chooses to no longer be affiliated with the site at all.

Without his help, most of these screenshots wouldn't be possible without his help.  He was kind enough to find these (and even resize certain ones to send me!) and allowed me to put them up on this website with his permission.  I am deeply grateful for that and appreciate all of the help and work he went through.

Without him, most of the Waxwork Movie Fan Site wouldn't be as cool and updated as it is today.  And I honestly can't thank him enough for that.

But sadly, he has chosen not to take credit for the images he's sent me.  I may get some more from him, one last time, but that's it.  He has decided to not only not be credited for giving me the images, but asked me to remove his website from the Links page.  I must respect his wishes and did as he asked.  I hope he changes his mind one day and returns.  I appreciate his help.

I'll have more news for you guys soon and expect to add the new images - of which there are a lot - within the next month or so, when I can afford to update the status of my website to get more room and pictures on here.  Thanks again for dropping by.

  Take care.
