MountLochan Border Collies

Manderian Solstice Belle of MountLochan CDex AW - "Corrie-Cas"

I was looking for a female puppy and I learned that there was a Dual Registered litter at the Manderian Kennels in Worcestershire, so I made the call.

In this litter there were Black/White and Black/White/Tan puppies. I was looking for a Tri coloured puppy (having lost Ceilidh who was B&W) so I asked if I may visit.

Cherokee and I were made very welcome.  The puppies were lovely, completely adorable. BUT the puppy that 'spoke to me' was a Black/White/Tan bitch...the one Lyn wanted to keep for herself. I told Lyn & Tony that I had other litters to look at - which was completely true - and I'd be in touch.

I travelled hundreds of miles looking at other litters....but the little Manderian bitch puppy just kept coming into my mind. She was the one I wanted. Would Lyn & Tony let me have her? There was only one way to find out. So, taking a deep breath, I called again, and spoke to Lyn. I think she knew what I was going to say. It was a very short call and, within minutes, Cherokee and I were on the road up to Redditch.

Bringing Corrie home

Well, it's obvious that I managed to persuade Lyn & Tony to let me have the little bitch that they'd registered with the Kennel Club as Manderian Solstice Belle (AC02780701).  I call her Corrie which is her ISDS Registered Name (Corrie 259767) I am very proud of the fact that she is Dual Registered. View Corrie's pedigree here.

Corrie fitted right in with Cherokee, who took this puppy under wing and appointed herself as mentor.

Corrie was bought from excellent show lines as a pet dog foremost, but I always intended to do lots of activities with her.  The plan was to see what she liked, and was good at, then stick with that.   We didn't narrow it down much as it turned out that she liked everything,  and was pretty good at them all too!  Check the links to see our story.

She has fantastic drive, a huge desire to learn and to please me....which she does every day.  She adores going for longs walks, flyball, agility, working trials.... in fact just about anything that's either busy or fast. However, at home she is very sweet, gentle and calm!

I did breed showing with Corrie when she was 6-12 months old, and although very successfu, she isn't quite so keen on the Breed classes - as far as Corrie is concerned it's just a lot of standing around with an occasional short trot - not nearly as exciting as running like the wind  jumping over things, or bringing a ball back!.....but she will do it if I ask her to. Corrie has many best puppy awards and qualified for Crufts in the Breed classes at her first champ show.

So, my wonderful & accomplished Corrie has beautiful conformation, brains, beauty and drive. She is excellently bred, everything I wanted.

Corrie's full and correct name is MANDERIAN SOLSTICE BELLE OF MOUNTLOCHAN CDex AW (ISDS).

Achievements

See under each activity link above for more details.

Here are a small selection of Corrie's achievements.

2004 - Corrie wins Midlands Border Collie Club Top Agility Dog Award

2004 - Corrie wins Midlands Border Collie Club Top Flyball Dog Award

Corrie has also achieved her KC Gold Good Citizen Award - we will add this to her display as soon as we receive the image

The Midlands Border Collie Club hold 2 Utility Days a year, for their members only.  Their Utility Certificate has 10 sections.

  • Breed Conformation
  • KC Good Citizen
  • Gundog Test
  • Agility Section
  • Flyball Section
  • Nosework Section
  • Reliability Section
  • Natural herding Ability
  • Obedience Section
  • Working Trial Section
On 16th May 2004 Corrie fully completed the first 9 sections, and completed the UD Search Square part of her Working Trials Section. The only thing that stopped her from completing the Tracking part of this section (minimum distance 700 yards, maximum 900 yards, with 4 - 7 legs and 15 minutes ageing, in accordance wit KC Rules) was the fact that there was no 'clean' land available to lay the track.
I think it may be a record for the MBCC to have 1 dog complete so much in one day.  Corrie has achieved her Bronze, Silver and Gold MBCC Utility Certificates....and as soon as we complete the final part she will have her Platinum Certificate & trophy too.

This picture shows a selection of the Agility prizes that Corrie won between April and September '05

As you can see, Corrie had a very busy 2005...as well as winning all the prizes you can see above (which are only a selection of those she actually won)....she somehow found time to take in a few other disciplines as well. In 2005 Corrie became the Midlands Border Collie Club Top Overall Working Dog. Gaining  Firsts in the Agility, Flyball and Heelwork to Music/Freestyle sections, a second place in Working Trials and a third place in Obedience.
