Showa mothra
Mothra first appeared in 1961 in a period of the godzilla series called the showa series. Mothra appeared in 1961 because her twin priesteses had been kidnapped from infant Island and she hatched from an egg in order to rescue them. She decimated japan in her larval form, however she was fired on by the military in the heart of tokyo and became wounded she then began to construct a cocoon in the remains of tokyo tower, however soon the goverment used fire cannons to light the cocoon on fire the cocoon was a chared husk everyone thought mothra had died until the truth revealed its self that mothra had survived now in her adult form resembling an adult moth she took to the air. The hurricane force wings from her flapping tore apart everything sending vehicles and buildings flying. Mean while the shobijin had already been rescued and the people who had rescued them drew the mothra symbol on an airport runway, drawing mothra to the airport once mothra landed and her priesteses were returned, they then returned to their home in peace. Mothra was not seen again until 1964 when her egg was washed ashore on Japan. Godzilla was released when a greedy corporation drained part of tokyo bay for land devolpment and godzilla awoke and started a rampage on Japan. A small group of reporters went to Infant Island to ask for mothra's assistance but the Island natives would not let them see their beloved goddess. Everyone hears the shobijin singing and the reporters ask for mothra's help but they are again turned down but mothra summoned for them and through the interprutations of the shobijin an agreement was brought, mothra though weak and dieing would go to Japan and fight godzilla but if mothra did manage to defeat godzilla mothra would not have the strength to return. By the time mothra arrived godzilla was getting ready to destroy her egg. Mothra began to create hurricane winds battering godzilla and blowing over the cage that her egg was conatined causing it to roll away from godzilla. Mothra began to continue her attack on godzilla, eventually during the struggle godzilla was knocked down. Mothra then began to use the poisinous powder on her wings but even then mothra could not triumph over godzilla. Godzilla used his atomic blast and burned mothra's wing, mothra began to retreat, she then rested on her egg to hide it from godzilla and died. With the adult mothra dead it was up to her unborn larva to finish what she had started her egg hatched and not one but two mothra larva emerged and attacked godzilla and proceeded to wrap him up in silk and dumped him into the sea. Mothra was not seen again until the film ghidorah the three headed monster where it turns out one of the twin mothra larva had died so with the space monster ghidorah destroying everything the larval mothra tried to get the battling godzilla and rodan to help defeat ghidorah but they wouldn't listen so mothra went to battle ghidorah, even knowing that death were surley meet the benevolent goddess, but rodan and godzilla had a change of heart and the three monsters worked together and defeated ghidorah. Mothra appeared next in Ebirah:Horror of The Deep. The mothra larva from the past movies had gone through it's metamorphasis and in its adult form had went to sleep however mothra had been reawakned due to the prayers of her people for members of her people were being forced into slavery by a group called the red bamboo. Mothra went to devils island were her people were being kept. Upon arrival she saw that the nuclear menace godzilla who had recently killed the mutant ebirah, was there on the island. Mothra did not wish to engage godzilla in combat for they had fought along side each other against the space demon, king ghidorah but godzilla ventured to close and blasted the near by ground with his atomic blast. Mothra engaged the nuclear menace in battle, the battle was quick, she quickly toppled godzilla with one flap of her gigantic wings. She then rescued her people and carried them off in a vine crate they had made. Mothra appears next in destroy all monsters when she is brain washed by the kilaaks along with the other monsters inhabiting monster land, she then destroys Bejing. However she is freed from the mind controll and helps destroy the kilaaks once and for all. Ending mothra's appearance in the showa series.
My Rating
The showa mothra has it's good points and it's bad points. A good point is mothra's battle record. The only time she was defeated was when Godzilla killed the adult elderly mothra but godzilla was later defeated by her newly hatched larvae. A bad point is mothra's lack of weapons not only did she not have many weapons the few she did have had little effect. Her hurricane winds could only provide a minor setback for monsters like godzilla and the poisonous powder on mothra's wings had little effect on Godzilla. Another good point though is her suprising levels of strength she was able to drag godzilla along the ground and at one point knocked him over. On a scale to 1-10 I give the showa mothra a 6.
Powers/Abilities
Imago Mothra
Flight at mach 3: Mothra is capable of reaching a top flieing speed of mach 3.
Hurricane winds: When mothra flaps her wings she is able to create strong winds capable of blowing buildings and kaiju away from the goddess.
Poison powder: As a last resort mothra is capable of realsing a poisonous yellow powder from her wings. The powder can hopefully asphyxiate the enemy kaiju.
Larva Mothra
Silk spray: In larval form mothra is capable of spraying silk from her snout at an enemy kaiju. If sucessful it can tangle an enemy kaiju.
Biting: In larval form mothra often uses her mouth to bite and cling to opponets.
Heisei mothra
Mothra next appeared in the movie godzilla and mothra the battle for earth. A small meteor hit the earth in 1992 causing a typhoon to form. Mothra's egg was uncovered on Infant Island during the typhoon some explorers went to Infant Island to check it out. There, they went inside a cave and found a cave drawing of two giant insects battling. Two couple inch tall women came out and told the explorers that they were the earth's cosmos (mothra's fairies) and that the cave drawing was of mothra and battra battling the two had battled long ago mothra defeated battra and battra was laid to rest in the northern sea. Due to the new climatic events mothra's egg has been uncovered and they fear battra has also awoken as well. One of the people asks the cosmos if they can bring the egg back with them for protection, the cosmos agree. They put the egg on a seperate platform being pulled by a ship however godzilla has reawakened as well and attacks the egg luckily mothra hatches just in time. The young caterpillar starts to attack godzilla but godzilla just tosses mothra aside. All of the sudden a hump with a horn appears in the distance it's battra larva. Battra quickly tosses mothra aside with it's big yellow horn. Battra then begins to fire at mothra with it's prism beams but battra doesn't have complete control over them yet and one hits godzilla. Godzilla becomes enraged at battra and the two start fighting unknowingly giving mothra a chance to escape. Battra and godzilla battled until they were swallowed up by a flow of magma underneath the ocean. Meanwhile the cosmos are captured and are handed over to the goverment the two began to call out to mothra for help and mothra comes. Mothra destroyes everything in it's path but luckily the fairies are rescued. Once mothra learns of their safety she halts her approach. Then the milatary fires on mothra. Mothra wounded from the attack constructs a cocoon. Later that night mothra emerges from her cocoon. It was thought that godzilla had died in the lava flow but it turned out he lived and was emerging from Mt.Fuji. It was also thought that battra had died in the lava flow but battra surfaced from the ocean and in a flash of energy transformed into his adult form. Mothra and battra both in their adult forms battled over Yokahama unfortunately battra was able to shoot mothra down with his prism beams as mothra lay on the ground battra continued to fire his prism beams at her but before battra proceeded any further he was distracted by another monster, godzilla had arrived battra remebered their previous battle and began to battle again. Godzilla easily defeated battra by throwing him into the distance and then following with an atomic blast. By this time mothra had recovered and battled godzilla. Mothra charged godzilla but godzilla was able to push mothra away but mothra rose up and continued to battle godzilla. Mothra soon realized that she could not defeat godzilla on her own and fired her antenae beams at godzilla to buy her self some time. Mothra met with the injured battra and began to communicate with him eventually battra agreed to help mothra. Mothra then began to revive battra but godzilla interupted it and mothra went back to battle godzilla this time mothra used the glimmering scales on her wings. The scales were able to reflect godzilla's atomic blast back on him. Just when mothra was about to win godzilla used his nuclear pulse sending mothra flat on her back beneath a ferris wheel. Godzilla sent his atomic blast at the ferris wheel causing it to almost fall on mothra but battra caught the ferris wheel and rescued mothra. Battra then proceeded to throw the ferris wheel at godzilla, battra and mothra both worked together and defeated godzilla. They both flew him out to sea but battra mortally wounded died when godzilla bit his neck and fired an atomic blast into his wound, while he was carrying godzilla out to sea with mothra. Afterwards mothra headed out into space to stop a meteor that battra was supposed to destroy.If we are still here in the year 1999 we can thank mothra for saving us and here we are in 2008, thanks mothra!!! Mothra next apeared in rebirth of mothra, mothra had laid an egg. An evil elias named belvera released death ghidorah whp began to drain life out of the enviroment. in response to this the two good elias moll and lora summoned the elderly mothra into battle. Mothra and death ghidorah did battle, and in response to mothra's declining strength mothra leo soon hatched prematurely to assist his distressed mother. Mothra leo soon arrived and was using powers never seen by larval mothra , for a moment it seemed that the combined might of mothra and her son would prevail, then tragedy struck. Death ghidorah focused his sole attention on the young larva digging his teeth into the young larva seriously injuring young mothra leo. Mothra desperate to save her only child. so she lured death ghidorah into a dam to distract him and grabbed her child and flew him to safety but there was a price to pay at the final selfless act of saving her only child she used the last of her strength and fell into the sea, try as he might mothra leo couldn't save his mother and his only relative sunk beneath the cold ocean. Mothra leo journeyed to an island of 1000 year old trees and went through his metamorphasis. (Rest of the story under mothra leo)
My Rating
I will give you my rating on the heisei version of mothra her good points and bad points. A good point about this mothra is that she has more weapons. She can fire strands of lightning from her wings or store the electricity in her body and release it to another monster by touch. She can also fire beams from her antenae and the scales on her wings can reflect energy attacks back on their source. A bad point is that she can't take very much damage for battra was able to shoot her out of the sky with one prism beam. Another good point is that this mothra was the first mothra to defeat godzilla in her adult form but it should be mentioned that she had to have battra help her defeating godzilla. I'll finish my review with one last point the adult mothra was defeated by death ghidorah pretty easily but she was old and weak if she was at the strength she was when she fought godzilla it is likely that she would have defeated death ghidorah. On a scale to 1-10 I give the heisei mothra a 8.

Reflective scales: Mothra is capable of realsing reflective scales from her wings. The scales are able to reflect energy beams back at their source but can only be used against ground based opponets.
Mothra leo
Mothra leo is the only male mothra he first apeared in rebirth of mothra. Mothra leo broke from his cocoon at the base of an 1000 year old tree as a swarm of multi colored butterflies that formed into mothra leo. Mothra leo went to battle death ghidorah who was absorbing life out of the envirment however death ghidorah was no match for mothra leo and was quickly defeated mothra leo sealed him back in his tomb. Mothra leo was not needed until a year later when the ocean pollution monster dagahra starts polluting the ocean with poisonous starfish called barem mothra leo and dagahra fought briefly before dagahra brought the battle under water where mothra leo was covered in barem mothra leo rested on top of an ancient temple waiting for dagahra to finish him off....
My Rating
I will give my rating on mothra leo his good points and bad points. A good point about mothra leo is the massive ammount of weapons he has and the ability to transform into different forms. There really are no bad points about him he really doesn't have any weakenesses due to his ability to transfrom and the many weapons at his disposal. On a scale from 1-10 I give mothra leo a 10.
Rainbow Mothra
mothra waited on the temple for dagahra to finish him off. For mothra leo had been severely injured by dagahra's barem but the ancient water spirit ghogo sacrificed himself and instilled his power in mothra leo transforming him into rainbow mothra in this form mothra leo had the upper hand. Dagahra retreated underwater but rainbow mothra transformed into aqua mothra defeating dagahra one and for all. The year following a meteor crashed in to earth inside the meteor was the space demon king ghidorah the same being responsible for the extiction of the dinosaurs. Rainbow mothra came to battle the king of terror but all of rainbow mothra's attacks could not harm king ghidorah's thick golden hide. After being injured by king ghidorah rainbow mothra asked it's priestess moll to send him back in time to battle the younger weaker king ghidorah. Moll reluctently gave rainbow mothra the rest of her power. Rainbow mothra first turned in to aqua mothra then into light speed mothra and journeyed back in time. Rainbow mothra arrived in the cretaceous period and soon located the young king ghidorah and engaged him in battle. Rainbow mothra's attacks had a great effect on the young king of terror and the present king ghidorah was feeling stabs of pain for what was going on in the past. Rainbow mothra then dumped king ghidorah in a volcano destroying him. The battle had taken it's toll on rainbow mothra he could feel the life draining from him but three prehistoric mothra larvae preserved him in a healing cocoon. Back in the present king ghidorah arrived on earth it turns out during the battle with cretaceous king ghidorah mothra had shot off one of king ghidorahs tails and the tail grew back delaying king ghidorahs arrival only by a day. How ever when rainbow mothra had been cocooned in the past the cocoon acted as a time capsole preserving rainbow mothra. Mothra emerged from the cocoon as armor mothra and defeated king ghidorah. Then turning into eternal mothra.
My Rating
I will give my rating on rainbow mothra his good points and bad points. A good point is just like mothra leo rainbow mothra has a variety of powers. Like mothra leo rainbow mothra doesn't have that many bad points all though he did have difficulty defeating king ghidorah but thats about it. On a scale to 1-10 I give rainbow mothra a 9.
Aqua mothra
Rainbow mothra transformed in to aqua mothra in order to battle dagahra under water. Aqua mothra was able to easily defeat dagahra. Aqua mothra split apart into smaller energized mothras and entered dagahra's body and destroyed the organ that created barem poisonous starfish and eventually killing dagahra. Aqua mothra transformed back into rainbow mothra and flew back to Infant Island.
My Rating
I will give my rating on aqua mothra his good points and bad points. A good point is aqua mothra's ability to swim and breathe under water. It doesn't really have any bad points considering it only was in battle once. On a scale from 1-10 I give aqua mothra a 10.
Light speed mothra
Rainbow mothra transformed into light speed mothra in order to go back in time to battle the younger king ghidorah.
My Rating
I can't really rate light speed mothra due to the fact that mothra leo only transformed into light speed mothra in order to go back in time to face the younger king ghidorah. As such I'm not able to rate him.
Armor mothra
Once rainbow mothra emerged from the cocoon that his ancient ancesters made in the past to heal him he emerged in the present as armor mothra and prepared for one final confrontation against king ghidorah. Mothra and king ghidorah began to battle mothra had the advantage as king ghidorah's attacks could not penatrate armor mothra's armor. Armor mothra cut off one of king ghidorah's wings and flew straight threw king ghidorah's body causing king ghidorah to crystalize and explode. Afterwards armor mothra shed his armor and became eternal mothra retiring from battle for good.
My Rating
I will give my rating on armor mothra his good points and bad points. A good point is armor mothra's armor that encases his body making him invulnerable to attacks. He really has no bad points because he only battled once and that was against king ghidorah. Armor mothra dominated the whole battle defeating king ghidorah. On a scale from 1-10 I give armor mothra a 10.
Eternal mothra
After armor mothra's battle with king ghidorah armor mothra shed his armor and became eternal mothra and retiring from battle for good.
My Rating
Just like light speed mothra I can't rate eternal mothra due to the fact that it never battled.
GMK mothra
The next movie mothra apeared in was Godzilla,Mothra, and King Ghidorah giant monsters all out attack. Mothra along with the two other guardian monsters baragon and ghidorah set out to protect earth from godzilla. Godzilla quickly slaughters baragon with ease. Once night falls mothra's cocoon which is in the middle of a lake starts to tear open and the adult mothra climbs on top of the cocoon and then flies off to defeat godzilla. While mothra is on her way to battle godzilla the third guardian monster ghidorah is awakened as well. Mothra decends into tokyo and launches a war with the enraged godzilla. Mothra fires poisonous darts from her abdomin at godzilla. The darts hit godzilla and explode but they only seemed to do minnimal damage to godzilla's thick hide. Mothra then knocks over godzilla. Godzilla gets up and procedes to fire an atomic blast at mothra. Mothra flies around the city trying to avoid the beam. Godzilla's destructive ray destroyed millions of buildings and sent tokyo tower falling. Ghidorah arrives on the scene and mothra retreats to allow ghidorah to enter the fight. Ghidorah bites godzilla and the bites send electricity through godzilla's body. Mothra then positioned her self behind godzilla but godzilla smacked her away with his tail. Ghidorah had just been knocked out by godzilla. Mothra again tried to get behind godzilla but godzilla was ready and fired his atomic blast at mothra the blast hit mothra and knocked her out. Mothra recovered and rose up her wings set ablaze with fire. Godzilla then destroyed mothra with an atomic blast but mothra instilled her enrgy in ghidorah giving ghidorah the power to defeat godzilla. Ghidorah with his new strength quikly defeated godzilla.
My Rating
I will give my rating of the GMK mothra her good points and bad points. A good point is mothra's agility. In this version she proved to be more agile then the previous incarnations of mothra. A bad point is mothra's lack of weapons. Her only major attack was the poisonous darts she shot out of her abdomin. Another good point is her ability to instill energy in other beings after death. On a scale from 1-10 I give the GMK mothra a 7.
GMM Mothra
The next movie mothra apeared in was Godzilla Tokyo SOS. The japanese air force detected a UFO flying over Japan and dispatched fighter jets to see what it was. The two fighter jet's pilots saw something tearing through the clouds. They tried as hard as they could but still could not identify what it was. Then they started hearing mysterious singing. When the flying object would not respond to their calls they fired at it but then the flying object dissapeared off the radar. They did manage to get a satelite photo of what it was. The picture appears to be a wing of a moth! The fairies of mothra came to visit and old friend to submit a grave warning to all of humanity. The person they came to visit was Shinichi Chujo. He knew two other fairies from their family about 30 years ago. They came to tell him to deliver their massage to the rest of humanity. If the bones of the original godzilla which were used to build the mechanical monster kiryu were not returned to the sea mothra would declare war on humanity even though she doesn't want to. However if the bones were returned to sea mothra would protect Japan if godzilla attacked. Outside Shinchi Chujo and his nephew and grandson witnessed the flight of mothra. The fairies had left with mothra and left behind a small tablet with mothra's symbol on it. Shinichi Chujo told the prime minister of Japan about mothra's fairies and their warning but the prime minister didn't believe him and said that they can't dump the kiryu project. Unfortunately there were many signs of godzilla's return. A giant sea turtle known as komoebas had had been killed by godzilla and it's carcas washed up on japan and a U.S. nuclear submarine had been destroyed of the coast of Guam. Later godzilla emerged from the ocean drawn by the bones locked inside kiryu the miltary could not harm the nuclear menace. Shinichi Chujo could not find his grand son and went to go search for him by the time he found his grandson he was using the desks from his abandoned school and arranging them in to mothra's symbol. Once he was finished mothra arrived she flew gracefully through the sky. Godzilla was rampaging through the city when he noticed something flying at him mothra had arrived. Mothra began to create hurricane winds. Godzilla was blinded from the dust mothra's winds had whipped up. In the confusion mothra grabbed on to godzilla and began to drag him through the city she released her grip and godzilla was sent plummeting into the ground. By night godzilla had finally counter attacked when mothra had latched onto his head godzilla bit off one of her legs and sent her crashing into a building. Mothra recovered and began to release the scales on her wings. Sadly mothra will lose her ability to fly due to the massive amount of scales lost. On himago Island mothra had laid an egg in a volcanic crater. Mothra's fairies began to sing the mothra song to awaken the mothra larvae. Back in Japan mothra's scales reflected godzilla atomic blast back on him. Godzilla was still ready to fight and mothra continued to shed the scales on her wings. The japanese goverment was observing mothra's condition and decided to send in kiryu to aid her. Godzilla fired an atomic blast mothra quickly dodged it but the beam hit tokyo tower causing it crash into the ground. Another atomic blast hit mothra's right wing and she fell out of the sky and onto her back godzilla was approaching to finish her off but before he could do so misiles were lauched at him and kiryu had arrived to battle. Godzilla and kiryu grappled for a little a little while. Godzilla then sent an atomic blast at kiryu knocking him out godzilla was about to launch another atomic blast but mothra interviened and tackled godzilla. When mothra knocked over godzilla his atomic blast that was intended for kiryu hit mothra's left wing mothra crashed into he streets below. With both of mothra's wings seriously injured mothra could no longer fly. Back on Himago Island mothra's egg hatched and twin mothra larvae emerged. The two began to immediatly swim to Japan to help their overwhelmed mother. The prime minister seeing the mothra larvae new that mothra must have laid an egg that way if she died her decendents could carry on the battle. The two mothra larva arrived in tokyo one blew silk at godzilla while the other began to communicate with their injured mother. Godzilla fired his atomic blast at the young larvae send it flying in to the air then the larvae joined it's sibling. Both mothra larvae began to communicate with their mother. Godzilla spotting the family of mothras fired an atomic blast at them. The adult mothra used her body to shield her children when the blast hit her she exploded. The mothra larvae's eyes turned bright red with anger toward godzilla. The two angered larvae attacked godzilla. Kiryu had been repaired and rejoined the fight. The mothra larvae used their silk to wrap godzilla up then kiryu grabbed ahold of godzilla and dumped godzilla and its self into the Japan trench. With the bones of godzilla returned to the sea the mothra larvae and mothra's fairies returned to their home.
My Rating
I will give my rating of the GMM mothra her good points and bad points. A good point is the scales on her wings which can reflect energy attacks back on her foe. The scales on her wings can also be a bad thing for if she is forced to keep attacking with her scales she will eventually lose her ability to fly due to the massive ammount of scales lost. GFW Mothra
Mothra next apeared in the 2004 movie Godzilla Final Wars this was also the last godzilla movie. Some scientists had just discovered the corpse of an ancient monster. Mothra's fairies came and told the scientists that it is the corpse of gigan. They explained that back in ancient times gigan had arrived to take over earth but mothra battled gigan and won ending gigan's reign of terror. Mothra's fairies warn them that if gigan's corpse is not returned to it's resting place earth will be in danger and with that they departed. Sure enough danger did occur. A race of aliens known as the xilians invade earth and lauch their newest monster called monsterX godzilla arrived to battle monsterX. Mothra soon arrived to help godzilla in the battle against monsterX but the xilian leader spotted mothra and sent a repaired gigan out to battle her. Mothra and gigan both battled hard but gigan cut off a piece of mothra's wing sending the deity crashing into the ground. Gigan then helped monsterX with the battle agianst Godzilla but mothra had recovered and struck down both gigan and monsterX with her wings. Mothra and gigan resumed their battle they both slammed into each other in midair gigan then sent razor discs at mothra but mothra gracefully dodged them. Mothra then used her scales from her wings on gigan. Gigan fired his cluster beam into the scale cloud causing the scales to ignite and explode mothra fell to the ground on fire due to the explosion. Gigan thought he had won but the scales on mothra's wings had caused his razor discs to short circuit and come back and decapitate him mothra then slammed into gigan causing an explosion that killed both monsters. Godzilla was almost killed by monsterX which had just transformed into keizer ghidorah. Godzilla though found the strength to defeat keizer ghidorah and won the battle. It was thought that mothra had died in the explosion but it turned out that she had survived and was seen flying back to Infant Island at the end.

I will give my rating of the GFW mothra her good points and bad points. A good point is that she displayed more physical strength then the past mothra incarnations. This mothra was so strong that she slammed her self into gigan several times and was able to strike down both gigan and monsterx with both her wings. A bad and good point is the scales on her wings. The scales are a good point because they can short circuit electrical devices but there a bad point because they ignite when energy hits them which causes mothra to get caught in the explosion. On a scale from 1-10 I give the GFW mothra a 9.
