Goat Birth

These are a few photos of my goat giving birth the other evening ( May 29th 08) We were blessed to have been there to watch this. It took a total of 15 minutes. "Baby" is a rescue goat that we got from  Northern Wisconsin she is a Brittish Toggenburg.. She was attacked by a bear and it ripped off her left nipple, Causing her to get mastitis and scar tissue in her left breast.  She gave birth to 2 beautiful little bucklings and is nursing from one nipple. She is doing a great job. This is going to be her last litter and she will be getting her fixed soon.

Notice the beginning stages with a discharge from her behind.
Baby in water sack. See the white in the sack? Thats the front hooves! This went in and out with every contraction. approx 5 then baby came out in a gush.
1st Buckling baby came out and she cleaned him up for maybe a minute before another baby was on his way out!
2nd Baby came out fast and again she cleaned him well. Within 5 min both were standing up and wanting to nurse! Afterbirth followed 30 min later. Great job "Baby" the goat!
Mom and babies doing great. Both babies will have a Great home with Michelle and her Family!
