I imagine someday I may use this page to borrow clever quotes from intelligent and wordly people on the joy and importance of music in our lives, but for now all I can offer is my own words....
I personally deeply believe that music, dance, theater, and art in it's many forms, is absolutely essential to feeding our souls... both personally as well as that of the community. And I know that it is such a very beautiful way of nurturing our children & our planet!
Music is all around us. In bird song, ocean waves, the beat of your heart, and childrens laughter. Music is in us just aching to come out. Clap your hands, drum, sing a song. And when or wherever you find music, I greatly encourage you to share it... in the house, in the car, in the park... Often.
For me, my happiest moments are when I am painting, looking at stars, or planting in the earth, beside my son, and we hum a little song or start dancing around with the radio on. Through my son, I have come to realize that music embodies my fondest memories, and is my truest sense of home.
Sometimes when we look back upon our lives we see that so much has changed...the street where we lived as children, the cars that we drove, even the friends we had. But then we find the old songs, and even some familiar rhythms in new ones... find them there just waiting to remind us... of where we began, of the journey that we took, and of how that makes us who we are now.
