I know this part could be boring, but for those few who are curious...

An "About" page is usually boring. I think I will keep that tradition going, but someone may want to read it, so here it is. First I will mention why the site is here to begin with, then I will get into why I do it and who I am.

I started this site to help those making web sites. I was offering free things they could add into their site, as well as free programs to help make their site. Also, I included free online services for people who had web sites. As time went by I morphed the site to include free programs and free services for the whole family to use on their computers. Still offering freebies for web sites. I started out with a big web site with many pages, but I have streamlined it down to a few to make it less awkward to get around in it.

I found most of my questions where not from people with their own web sites. They were Moms, Dads, Kids, asking where they could get a program to do a certain task. This was most enjoyable for me. I love to tell people in an instant where they can get a free program and save money doing so. I also still answer questions about web site freebies. If you need a program for yourself, or son/daughter I usually can get a free program to do the task. That beats going to the store and spending money. I am amazed how many people tell me "You should be charging people for this information". That to me is a distasteful thought. To charge money for something that is free? I don't think so. I get paid by their satisfaction they got something for nothing, so in a way, you can get a free lunch! (does that cliché apply? haaaaaa).

One of my favorite examples of this is Microsoft Office. Many years ago my son came home from school a few years back and said he is learning that program in school. However, he could not do his homework at home on that subject because we did not have Microsoft Office. So I went to a store to buy it. The student version was 90 dollars, and not that I was looking for it, but the professional version was five hundred bucks!

I decided to go home and see if there was an alternative. I came across OpenOffice Suite. It was FREE! Not only free, but it opened, and saved in Microsoft Office format! It had everything Microsoft Office had. A word processor, spreadsheet, presentation application, database, and more. I downloaded and installed it and have been hooked on finding freebies ever since. And let me tell you, there are thousands of free services and programs. I find people just don't know their out there.

It got to a point that when I am now asked about a free program I just rattle off the site and program from my head. It has become an obsession, not just a hobby. Not a day goes by that I am not asked by someone if I can tell them about a free program or service. No matter the category: Office use, entertainment, system utilities, photo editing, desktop publishers, and the list goes on nearly forever.

Now the part of who I am... IT DOESN'T MATTER! lol. I am just one of those computer nerds who works 6 nights a week, and spends my day on the computer finding the latest free programs (when not playing my online pool lol). I live in Northern New Jersey and have a son who drives me crazy now that he just got his license to drive! Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. But if you want to know more, and why would you lol, Look me up on Facebook lol.

Sincerely,

Martin O'Sullivan
