In 1885 a great treasure was built.....

in 2003 a great treasure will be restored. 

 

118-il sena ilu dawk li kkontribwew b’entużjażmu biex ikollhom l-akbar “mechanical pipe organ” fil-gżejjer Maltin gawdew il-ħoss tal-għaġeb li kien jinstema’ f’kull rokna tal-koppla tal-Mosta.  Għal snin sħaħ ħafna minna ma kienux jistgħu jisimgħu dan il-ħoss tant sahiħ minħabba l-istat ħażin li jinsab fih l-istrument illum.  Qegħdin f’riskju li nitilfu parti mill-kultura tagħna .  Ir-responsabbilta li ngħożżu l-wirt tagħna llum u għal dawk ta’ warajna hi tiegħi u tiegħek.

Din l-inizjattiva bdiet mill-Arcipriet tal-Mosta Dun Joe Carabott, illum Monsinjur, u bl-ghajnuna mill-Mosta Gunners.  Illum l-Arcipriet Dun Mario Tong qieghed ikompli dan il-progett.  L-orgni huwa l-akbar wiehed f'Malta u ghandu madwar 2000 suffara/kanna.  Huwa l-obligu taghna li nippreservaw il-wirt li hallewlna missirijietna!

118 years ago, people who contributed with enthusiasm for a proposal to build the largest mechanical pipe organ on the Maltese Islands, enjoyed the magnificent sound echoing in every corner of the Mosta Dome.  Such deep and rich sound which most of us have not been able to hear for years due to the mediocre state of the instrument today.  The risk of losing part of our culture is far too real.  The responsibility of treasuring our heritage for today and future generations is mine and yours

We are going to help, …are you?

 

This all began on the initiative of Fr. Joseph Carabott and with the help of the Mosta Gunners.  Now the project is being continued by the present Arcpriest, Fr. Mario Tong.  This organ is the largest in Malta.  It is our duty to pass it on to forthcoming generations!
