FOSSILS OF ARKANSAS

Arkansas was divided into many time line regions. These include Mississippi Embayment, Gulf Coastal Plain, Ozark Region, Arkansas Valley and Ouachita Mountains Region. This is a state that is varied by both its formations and the types of fossils that can be found.

The reptile Mosasaur lived in the marine waters of Arkansas many millions of years ago. The picture shows a vert of this awesome beast. It was found this past summer (2006), in a local creek in south western Arkansas. It was my first fossil found of this amazing creature. Thanks to Oceans of Kansas for the mosasaur image.

Fossil Spotlight for August is a possible Halisaurus vert.
