HIGHLANDER BAND NEWS (8/25/2010): Thursday, August 26 is our last day of preseason! We will have a normal rehearsal from 4 to 7 PM, and then we will have our annual picnic/reception afterwards. PARENTS/GUARDIANS: Please join us at the practice field between 6:30 and 6:45 to see the end of our rehearsal, and then cross the field with us to attend the reception. Burgers, hot dogs, and drinks will be provided.
Students should be prepared for strenuous outdoor activity every day this week. This means:
- Make smart clothing choices…wear loose, light clothes that are appropriate for the weather
- Wear SNEAKERS--we will do some running and other outdoor movement
- Bring a hat to keep your head covered (you might want sunscreen, too)
- Bring a water jug or bottle of water to keep yourself hydrated
- You might want bug spray, as we will be on grass and near wooded areas
- Get plenty of sleep each night so you aren’t worn out when we begin
- Eat a good meal before you get here
- Avoid sugary foods and drinks and stay away from caffeine! These chemicals can cause problems when combined with sun and strenuous activity.
Band Picnic/Parent Social
On Thursday, August 26, parents and families are invited to the practice field to see our final runthroughs, starting between 6:30 and 6:45 PM. At 7:00, when we are finished, students and their parents are invited to a reception at the Kalmbachers’ house, which is right next to the practice field. Please park in the upper parking lot (near the tennis courts), and If possible, bring lawn chairs for the performance/reception.
