Mortal Kombat

Hello, these are my character bio's for MK. thanx for looking continue on!

Noob Saibot, Sindel, Reptile, Jade, Reiko, Sonya Blade, Smoke, Shinnok

NOOB SAIBOT

This is Noob Saibot... One of my favorite characters ever. Noob Saibot is a shadowy creature from the Netherrealm. One of the brothers of the shadow, Noob Saibot serves mostly as a spy for Shinnok. His dark appearance makes him perfect for the task. Most recently, he has been spying on the battle between the Earth and Outworld. He was present during Kahn's Outworld tournament, then again during his invasion of Earth. Noob was not quick to challenge any of the warriors involved, although he did fight a few. His main objective was to keep Shinnok informed on the events taking place. After Kahn's defeat, it was Noob Saibot's information which allowed Quan Chi to find Shinnok's amulet before Rayden. Because of this, Shinnok was able to escape from the Netherrealm. As the battle begins against the Earth realm and Outworld, Noob Saibot's services as a spy are no longer needed. Instead, he is to fight in the tournament for the Netherrealm. He has also been given the secondary mission to watch Mileena, and to kill her if she disobeys Shinnok's orders. Being completely loyal to his god, Noob Saibot accepts both missions without question. First was a character made from a glitch in either MKI or MKII. A statistic not many people know is that this character was made from the game's creators "[Ed] Boon" and "[John] Tobias" spelled backwards.

SINDEL

Sindel was once the queen of the thriving realm of Edenia, next to her husband king Jerrod. Jerrod and Sindel were happy in their life, especially after the birth of their new daughter, Kitana. Their happiness was soon interrupted by Shao Kahn. When Edenia's best warriors lost 10 Mortal Kombats, Kahn was able to enter Edenia and begin merging it with Outworld. Kahn killed several Outworld generals, then Sindel's husband Jerrod. Shao Kahn then forced Sindel to marry him so that he could take the Edenian throne as emperor. Sindel offered what resistance she could, but soon her spirit was broken and she couldn't go on any longer. Unable to bear her role as Shao Kahn's queen, she took her own life. 10,000 years later, Sindel awoke in the Earth realm, resurrected by Shang Tsung. However, Sindel was not the same person. The person she was died 10,000 years earlier. She was now under Shao Kahn's power. The resurrection process brought back only fragments of her soul, making her more a vision of death than a living being. Kahn had her resurrected so that he could step through the dimensional portals to reclaim her as his queen. As Kahn planned, Sindel this time accepted her role as queen, an act that kept Kahn's portals open. However, Kitana was able to reach her mother, and tell her of their past, memories suppressed by Kahn. Sindel turned against Shao Kahn, making it possible for the Mortal Kombat champion, Liu Kang, to drive him out of the Earth realm. Kahn is driven out of Edenia as well, and Sindel is asked to retake her thrown as queen of Edenia. She accepts, promising to restore Edenia to the glory it had before Shao Kahn invaded. She rules well for a time, earning the respect of her subjects and rebuilding Edenia to beautiful and strong realm as promised. But one day, Sindel mysteriously disappears. As much as she tries to get on with her former life, she cannot escape her true nature as a puppet of the Outworld emperor. She is summoned to Outworld by his magic. Sindel is no longer central to Kahn's plans, but he does intend to use her as a weapon against the Earth and Netherrealm warriors, and especially against her daughter Kitana.

REPTILE

Reptile is a member of a long extinct race. Reptile's race thrived once in their own realm until Shao Kahn entered it. Kahn was responsible for killing all but a few of the lizard-like people. However, that fact has been kept from everyone living in Outworld, including Reptile. Reptile served once as a bodyguard for Shang Tsung. At that time he wore a green outfit, modeled after the type worn by many of Earth's ninja clans, which concealed his reptilian form. After the loss of the Shaolin tournament, Reptile traveled back to Outworld with Shang Tsung. He was chosen to compete in the Outworld tournament, but insisted on also continuing in his role as Tsung's protector. After the Outworld tournament was over, Shao Kahn began his invasion of Earth. Reptile was of course part of the fighting force. However, when princess Kitana escaped to the Earth realm, he was sent with Jade to find her. Reptile didn't put much effort into the hunt, because he was preparing to help Shang Tsung implement a plan to overthrow Kahn, and place Tsung as Earth's ruler instead. The plan was never executed, since Kahn was instead defeated by the Earth warriors. Reptile didn't make it back to Outworld with his allies. Instead he ended up in Edenia, wandering. With no way of getting back to Outworld, he was still in Edenia when Shinnok freed himself of the Netherrealm. Looking for allies, Quan Chi approached Reptile. He told Reptile about the genocide Shao Kahn conducted that wiped out nearly all of his race. And he gave him a promise. Quan Chi told Reptile that Shinnok could do what Shao Kahn had not, restore Reptile's race to it's former glory. Reptile had nowhere else to go, and agreed to join Shinnok and Quan Chi. Now unmasked, Reptile prepares himself for this new tournament.

JADE

Jade is a woman of Edenia born shortly after Kahn merged Edenia with Outworld. She was raised by her natural parents as an infant, but was taken from them by Shao Kahn. Kahn chose members of his army to raise Jade and to train her as an assassin. During her training she became friends with Kahn's adopted daughter, Princess Kitana. The two trained together often. As Goro came close to winning the Shaolin tournament, Kahn intensified Jade's training, as he did with most of his warriors, preparing them for a full invasion of the Earth realm. When Goro was defeated and Kahn held a tournament in Outworld, he didn't enter Jade in the tournament directly, but instead instructed her to ambush each of the Earth warriors while they were alone and didn't expect it. When Shao Kahn invaded Earth, Jade was instructed to find the renegade princess Kitana and bring her back to Kahn. Jade was loyal to Kahn, and wanted his takeover of Earth to be successful. But she was also loyal to her friend, Kitana. Jade fought skillfully against every Earth warrior she came up against, but deliberately failed in her mission to bring Kitana back to Outworld. After Edenia is separated from Outworld, Jade continues to support Kahn instead of her birthland. However, when Shinnok enters Edenia, Kitana contacts Jade and asks for her help. Jade helps Kitana escape to the Earth realm. She then enters the Mortal Kombat tournament hoping Kahn won't find out about her divided loyalties and her secretly helping princess Kitana.

REIKO

Reiko was once a general in Shinnok's army. He helped wage war against Shinnok's fellow elder gods. Reiko was orgionally from Outworld, but agreed to help Shinnok, believing he had the ability to defeat the other elder gods. Reiko died in that war, and for thousands of years his soul was dead. When Shinnok escapes from the Netherrealm, he begins to once again amass and army to take on the elder gods. He resurrects Reiko to once again aid him in battle. Once again given life, Reiko gains an opportunity to see what the Outworld has become since his death. He finds out that Shao Kahn has ruled that realm for thousands of years. Reiko is displeased with what the wasteland the Outworld has become under Kahn's rule. He agrees to once again help Shinnok, under the condition that if Shinnok wins, and conquers all realms in existence, that Reiko will be allowed to overthrow Kahn and take his place as emperor of Outworld.

SONYA BLADE

Lieutenant Sonya Blade was a member of a special forces unit in the U.S. Army. She and her partner were assigned to investigate the activities of the Black Dragon crime organization. Sonya's unit tried to apprehend several members of the Black Dragon, including their leader Kano. The Black Dragon obviously resisted, and Kano managed to escape, but not before killing Sonya's partner. Sonya was enraged, and began pursuing Kano obsessively. She and her new partner Jax eventually tracked Kano to an area of China, where a tournament called Mortal Kombat was about to begin. Kano was there because of rumors about a temple made of gold. Sonya struck as quickly as possible, even though it meant leaving Jax behind. She and her unit found where Kano had gone, but once they got there were captured by Shang Tsung. Tsung was impressed both with Sonya's looks and fighting ability. He told her that she fought in the Mortal Kombat tournament he would free her unit. Sonya had no choice but to accept. She found out Kano was in the tournament and saw her chance to finally kill him for killing her partner. Shang Tsung didn't give her the chance, because he was soon worried with the young Shaolin warrior Liu Kang. Liu Kang defeated Tsung and won the tournament. Sonya and Kano were taken back to Outworld. There they were forced to watch as warrior after warrior was killed by Shao Kahn and Kintaro. Sonya was finally rescued by Jax. She tried to finally arrest Kano, but the Outworld warriors were proving to be too much of a danger and they escaped back to the Earth realm. Once there, they tried to warn their superiors about Shao Kahn. The warnings were dismissed, and quiet actions were taken to keep Sonya and Jax from pursuing the matter further, but nothing that would draw attention. Sonya began to wonder whether the government was trying to cover up their knowledge of Outworld and Shao Kahn. Sonya and Jax were part of the last remaining resistance when Kahn invaded the Earth. They battled the Outworld creatures, and helped Liu Kang, Kung Lao, and Kitana in their strike against Kahn. Also, during the invasion, Sonya finally got the opportunity she had been wanting for years, to face Kano in battle. The two fought on top of a large skyscraper. Kano was thrown off that skyscraper, and Sonya finally had her revenge. After Kahn was defeated, Sonya and Jax convinced the U.S. to establish an outerworld investigation agency. They were asked to head this agency, but turned it down to finish rounding up the last members of the Black Dragon. They managed to arrest every known remaining member except for one, an elusive man named Jarek. Sonya and Jax pursue Jarek, but before they can take him into custody they are visited by Rayden and told of the new threat brought by Quan Chi and Shinnok, as well as Shao Kahn's newfound attempt at taking the Earth. He asks them to fight in the tournament that could save the Earth from both. Sonya decides to let Jarek go for now, so that she can help to defeat the greater evils that now threaten her realm.

SMOKE

Smoke was once an assassin working for the Lin Kuei, a warrior clan located in an unknown region of China. He was one of the most skilled assassins they had, particularly because of his amazing stealth which left him virtually invisible to his victims. His code name, Smoke, was earned because of the way he used blinding smoke to give himself the upper hand in battle. Smoke's best friend in the clan was the younger Sub-Zero. When Sub-Zero's older brother vanished after entering a tournament called Mortal Kombat, he and Smoke began to investigate. Their search led them to a place called Outworld and a tournament held by Shao Kahn. Sub-Zero participated in the tournament directly, while Smoke used his stealth to spy on the Outworld warriors and find any clues to the fate of Sub-Zero's older brother. After the tournament, the two returned to Earth, and went immediately to Lin Kuei to warn their leader of the threat brought by Shao Kahn. However, the two stumbled onto the Lin Kuei leader's secret plan to automate members of the clan as cyborgs. Sub-Zero was able to escape, but Smoke was caught and forced to undergo the conversion. Smoke was implanted with cybernetic devices, but the process was interrupted by Shao Kahn's invasion. Smoke set out to execute the instructions given to him, to destroy Sub-Zero, but some of his humanity was left in the cyborg body, and he eventually gained control of himself. Instead of carrying out his mission for the Lin Kuei, he helped the Earth warriors defeat Shao Kahn. After the invasion, the Lin Kuei find out what their leader has been doing. Smoke is living proof of it. The clan is disbanded, an act of justice in Smoke's eyes. He has nothing but hatred for his former clan and for what they did to him. But there is one last thing missing for justice to be served for the crimes against him. The other Lin Kuei cyborgs, Sektor and Cyrax, are still alive. Smoke joins the Mortal Kombat tournament to help his friend, Sub-Zero, but also so that he can destory those two last remnants of the Lin Kuei.

SHINNOK

Shinnok is considered by many to be the most evil creature to have ever been in existence. Even Shao Kahn's tyranny is a small evil compared to the terror that Shinnok can and does bring. He was once one of the elder gods, the highest order of gods who maintain order throughout all realms of reality. Unlike his fellow gods, Shinnok longed for power beyond what he already had. He wanted to control all of reality by conquering every realm in existence. He attempted to do so, drawing on the energies of his amulet, the source of any elder god's power. Shinnok gathered his worshippers and began his assault. Immediately, the gods retaliated, striking back at Shinnok whenever possible, but even they had a hard time fighting him off. The battle resulted in billions of lives being lost. One realm was completely destroyed, an act which the thunder god Rayden holds himself responsible for. It was because of Rayden and the other gods that Shinnok was finally beaten and confined in a desolate place called the Netherrealm. Shinnok was thrown into the fiery pits of the Netherrealm, tortured for centuries, the whole time longing for revenge against the elder gods, and against Rayden. He was trapped in the Netherrealm, at the mercy of it's ruler Lucifer, until he met the sorcerer Quan Chi. Quan Chi offered to help Shinnok defeat the Netherrealm's ruler and eventually to strike back at the ones who imprisoned him there. The condition was that Shinnok grant him stronger abilities as a sorcerer and give him a position of power in the empire he believed Shinnok would eventually rule over. Shinnok, with Quan Chi's help, was able to conquer the Netherrealm and take Lucifer's place as it's ruler. He then started to plan his revenge against those who banished him there. He knew his amulet will be the key to his escape from his prison, so he sent Quan Chi to retrieve it. For thousands of years Quan Chi tried to get the amulet, finally succeeding after the defeat of Shao Kahn. With his power restored, Shinnok escaped from the Netherrealm. From there he began his war against the elder gods. With stronger allies and a rage that had been building for millenia, Shinnok was striking at the elder gods harder than they were prepared to handle. Seeing many of his fellow gods being beaten, Rayden makes the risky decision to declare a Mortal Kombat against Shinnok, to which the winner goes the Earth realm, and eventually all of reality.

Baraka, Nightwolf, Shang Tsung, Raiden, Quan Chi, Rain, Shao Kahn

BARAKA

Baraka belongs to a group of mutants living in Outworld's wastelands. His people are mutated versions of a race belonging to a forgotten realm conquered by Shao Kahn long ago. Most members of his race are shunned by the rest of Outworld and are forced to live in seclusion. Baraka was fortunate enough to have been noticed by one of Shao Kahn's generals and recruited into his army. He's valued by Kahn for his excellent fighting skills and has proven himself one of the greatest fighters in Outworld. Baraka's first taste of real battle was in the Outworld tournament. Baraka was chosen to lead an attack on Liu Kang's Shaolin temple in China in order to lure Liu Kang into the Outworld. Then, he was one of the warriors Kahn chose to fight in the Outworld tournament itself. He didn't do as well as some of Kahn's more seasoned warriors, but well enough that he got to play a key role in Kahn's occupation of Earth. After Kahn is driven out of Earth and Edenia, Baraka must choose whether or not to stay a member of Kahn's army. He finds that he's losing respect for Kahn, but since leaving would mean giving up his prestigious position and going back to life as an outcast, Baraka decides to fight for the Outworld in this new Mortal Kombat.

NIGHTWOLF

Nightwolf is a historian who specializes in the history of Native Americans. He does some work to educate people in his community on the history of the local tribes, including the one he himself belongs to. He has also spent his life studying the spirtuality and warfare of his tribe, and has become an skilled fighter because of it. He's one of the few people left on the planet familiar with the spiritual powers his ancestors drew upon. When Shao Kahn enters the Earth realm, he uses those powers to protect his tribe's land from Kahn's magic. He saves the souls of everyone in that area, but is unable to save their lives when Kahn's extermination squads attack. He and a few surviving warriors are able to fight off the extermination squads long enough for Liu Kang to defeat Kahn, and drive him out of the Earth realm. After the invasion, Nightwolf goes back to his work, but with a greater respect among the people for the awareness of Native Americans he's trying to bring. When Nightwolf gets word of the new tournament beginning against Shinnok, he checks his research. His people have ancient records that speak of both Quan Chi and Shinnok. Nightwolf embarks to help the Earth warriors, possessing knowledge that will be vital to Shinnok's defeat.

SHANG TSUNG

Shang Tsung is a sorcerer who specializes in magic having to do with the soul. He is able to peer into a warrior's soul and mimic all the skill and abilities of that warrior, and to steal a warrior's soul itself. Shang Tsung was a former Mortal Kombat champion, having taken the title during the Edenaian invasion. However, Shang Tsung had ambitions equal to those of his master, Shao Kahn. Tsung attempted to overthrow Kahn and take his empire. For this, Kahn almost killed Shang Tsung. But, instead he gave him an important mission. He needed Shang Tsung's ability to travel between realms without being detected by the gods of those realms. He banished Tsung to Earth and sent the Shokan warrior Goro with him. Shao Kahn instructed him to make sure Goro won the Mortal Kombat tournaments necessary to open the Outworld portals. Shang Tsung was warned that his very life depended on his victory. When Goro finally failed to win in Mortal Kombat, Shang Tsung pleaded with Kahn for his life. Once again, Tsung was almost killed, and would have been had it not been for a vital bit of information obtained from Quan Chi. Shang Tsung told his emperor of his plan to resurrect Sindel on Earth and open the Outworld portals there. A tournament held in Outworld would help to dispense with their enemies and distract the gods. Kahn was impressed enough with the plan to let the sorcerer live. The plan was executed, with much success. Kahn was finally able to step through the portals to Earth, and begin merging it with Outworld. Shang Tsung supported Kahn the entire time, secretly planning to destroy him and rule the Earth for himself. Reptile was to help him defeat Kahn, but before Shang Tsung could act, Kahn was defeated by the Earth warriors. Having lost the Earth realm and the Edenian realm, and his armies depleted, Kahn needs as many strong allies as he can get. Shang Tsung takes advantage of this and gives Kahn and insincere pledge of loyalty. Tsung's life and place in Kahn's army are secured, and so Shang Tsung starts to plan for his next course of action. He will help Kahn restore Outworld supremacy in this new Mortal Kombat, and then kill his trusting emperor.

RAIDEN (not Rayden)

Hmmmm....Debated by many... settled by few, the name Raiden or Rayden...? I looked around and found out that the name was chagned from Raiden to Rayden due to legal reasons after MKI and MKII...there was a chinese movie that had a character named Raiden so they changed it until recently...when they changed it back to Raiden...research by the great Chris Conner.  Rayden is better known as the god of thunder. Long ago, Rayden was one of the gods responsible for imprisoning Shinnok in the Netherrealm. Afterward, he took on the responsibility of protecting the Earth realm to atone for the civilization he destoryed during the battle. When Shao Kahn challenged the Earth, Rayden helped the Earth warriors fight him in Mortal Kombat. He took his mortal form to compete in the Shaolin tournament, but played only a support role as Liu Kang won the tournament. When Shang Tsung began luring Earth warriors into Outworld, Rayden traveled there after them. He competed in Shao Kahn's tournament, not knowing why Kahn was holding that event and wanting to keep a close eye on him. Little did Rayden know that this was exactly what Kahn wanted. The thunder god was unprepared when Shao Kahn resurrected Sindel and opened the portals to the Earth realm. With the Earth realm merging with Outworld, Rayden had lost his dominion there. Not content to stand by and watch the Earth warriors fight Kahn's armies alone, Rayden gave up his own immortality and fought as a mortal, for the first time being vulnerable to death. He was nearly killed during the invasion, but was crucial in Shao Kahn's defeat. After Kahn is driven out of the Earth realm, the elder gods restore Rayden's immortality. Rayden begins helping to rebuild the Earth, but soon realizes that there is one important thing now missing, Shinnok's amulet. Rayden immediately begins his search for the amulet. He knows that if he doesn't find it before Quan Chi, the results will be disasterous. He tracks the amulet to a shrine somewhere in Edenia, but when he arrives there, he finds the amulet gone. At that moment his fears are confirmed, the amulet is now in the possession of Shinnok. Shortly afterward, Shinnok escapes from the Netherrealm and begins his assault against the gods. The fight doesn't go well, and the losses are heavy. In a final attempt to end the fighting and protect the Earth realm from Shinnok, Rayden declares a Mortal Kombat. What Rayden didn't expect was that by a technicality Shao Kahn would enter the tournament as well. If Rayden and the Earth warriors can defeat Shinnok and Shao Kahn, the Earth will be safe and both will be banished back to their realms. But if they fail, the Earth will be quickly overrun by one evil, or another.

QUAN CHI

Quan Chi is a free roaming sorcerer, able to travel to any realm he chooses without being detected by that realm's gods. This is one reason he's been so useful to Shinnok. Quan Chi struck a bargain with Shinnok long ago. In exchange for an increase in power, both magical and political, Quan Chi agreed to help Shinnok take over first the Netherrealm, then every other realm in existence. Quan Chi helped Shinnok conquer the Netherrealm, then began looking for Shinnok's amulet, the key to his freedom from that desolate place. Quan Chi finally made a deal with Shang Tsung. Quan Chi gave Tsung the knowledge he would need to resurrect queen Sindel on Earth, and Tsung gave Quan Chi the location of a map that would show him where Shinnok's amulet was. Quan Chi hired the Lin Kuei ninja Sub-Zero to get the map and then to get the amulet. Sub-Zero got the amulet, but was then sent by Rayden into the Netherrealm to get it back from Quan Chi. Disappointed, Quan Chi tried again to get the amulet. He was unsuccessful until after Shao Kahn's invasion. Kahn had taken the amulet from the temple on Earth, and Quan Chi ended up finding it in a shrine on Edenia. His success leads to the new Mortal Kombat tournament that is beginning between the Earth, Outworld, and Netherrealm. Quan Chi enters the tournament to fight for Shinnok. He knows that Shinnok is close to his goal of universal domination, and that he is close to recieving the rewards for his centuries of work.

RAIN

When Shao Kahn first entered Edenia after beating it's best warriors in Mortal Kombat, he began killing everyone there who he saw as a threat to him. One of the first to die was the general of Edenia's army. That man was Rain's father. Although Rain is Edenian, he was raised by Shao Kahn all his life, and considers himself to be a warrior of Outworld, not of Edenia. Rain served Kahn during the invasion of Earth. He proved himself both in loyalty to Kahn and prowess in battle. During the invasion, Kitana tried to convince Rain to turn against Shao Kahn, and instead to help the Earth warriors. Rain was almost convinced, but life as a servant of Shao Kahn hasd been the only thing he'd ever known. He refused to give up his loyalty to Kahn, an act that would've almost seemed honorable under other circumstances. After Shao Kahn's defeat, Rain refuses to go back to his homeworld of Edenia. He travels back to Outworld. There he prepares to fight for the Outworld in the coming Mortal Kombat. He denys his heritage, completely convinced that the path Kahn has chosen for him is the right one.

SHAO KAHN

Shao Kahn is the despotic emperor of Outworld. He is an immortal who has spent thousands of years conquering other realms, merging them with his own realm, Outworld. With each new realm he expands his empire and increases his power. 10,000 years ago, Kahn took over the realm known as Edenia and merged it with Outworld. He killed Edenia's king Jerrod and took Jerrod's wife and daughter as his own. Kahn then challenged the Earth realm to Mortal Kombat, to take yet another realm. But the Earth realm is a special one. From there, hundreds of other realms can be accessed. If he can take the Earth realm, countless other realm will be at his mercy. He sent Goro and Shang Tsung to the Earth realm to compete for Earth's fate. They were successful in winning nine tournaments, but at the tenth, Goro and Tsung were beaten by Liu Kang. Shao Kahn almost killed Shang Tsung for his failure, but agreed to spare his life so he could execute and important plan. Earth's warriors were lured into the Outworld to battle against Shao Kahn himself. But this was merely a diversion while Kahn's sorcerers resurrected queen Sindel on Earth. Shao Kahn stepped through the portals to reclaim his queen. It gave him the opportunity to begin his invasion of Earth. Kahn took the soul of those mortals that were not protected, and sent his extermination squads to wipe out the rest. He was particularly interested in destroying the Mortal Kombat champion, Liu Kang. Eventually, Kahn's daughter Kitana turned Sindel against him, and Kahn lost in a battle against Liu Kang. Kahn was driven back into Outworld, which was now separated from Earth and Edenia. Kahn is enraged at his defeat. The Earth realm is the first to offer this level of resistance. He immediately begins putting back together what's left of his army, finding warriors who are still loyal to him, or will at least fight for him for their own reasons. He prepares for the next time he has an opportunity to take the Earth realm. His opportunity comes sooner than expected. When Shinnok escapes from the Netherrealm, Rayden declares a Mortal Kombat for control of the Earth realm. Kahn decides to take advantage of an often overlooked rule of Mortal Kombat. He finds the Shokan warrior Goro, the former Mortal Kombat champion. Goro alone can enter the Outworld in this new tournament. Kahn offers Goro the position of general of his armies, despite any opposition it might cause. Goro accepts, and Shao Kahn is once again entered into the fight for supremacy of Earth.

Sheeva, Sektor, Scorpion, Tanya, Cyrax, Ermac, Goro

SHEEVA

Sheeva is a member of the Outworld race known as Shokan. She initially joined Kahns army because of how much she admired the then champion of Mortal Kombat, Goro. Sheeva got to fight a great deal of battles in the Outworld, but none against the Earth warriors until Kahn's invasion of Earth. Sheeva was chosen as Sindel's bodyguard, an honorable position considering Sindel's importance to the Outworld invasion. However, Sheeva was proud of her race, and became suspicious of Kahn's loyalty to the Shokan when he made a Centaurian, Motaro, general of his armies. Centaurians are the natural enemies of the Shokan, so Sheeva denied to herself that Motaro outranked her, instead considering herself to be working for Kahn, and nobody else. This attitude enraged Motaro, who disliked Sheeva already. After Kahn is driven back into Outworld, he tries to keep Sheeva's support since he needs strong allies. Sheeva is unconvinced that she should continue to be in Kahn's army until Kahn replaces Motaro with Goro as general of his army. Sheeva knows Kahn is doing this only so he can enter the new Mortal Kombat tournament, but she nevertheless sees it as a victory of the Shokan over the Centaurians. She joins the fight to further prove her race superior.

SEKTOR

Sektor was once a human assassin for the Lin Kuei. He was considered the most loyal member of the Lin Kuei, a fact which the other members were often reminded of by their leader. When he buys the technology to transform humans into automated cyborgs, the leader of the Lin Kuei covertly asks Sektor to be the first to volunteer. Out of loyalty to the clan, he does volunteer for the procedure. When Sub-Zero and Smoke find out about what the leader of their clan is doing, both decide to quit the clan. Sektor and another newly created cyborg, Cyrax, are sent after them before they can alert the rest of the clan about what's going on. Sektor and Cyrax manage to capture Smoke, and then are sent out after Sub-Zero. While they are pursuing him, Shao Kahn begins his invasion of Earth. Both Sektor and Cyrax survive his invasion since they have no souls to take. Sektor loses track of the Cyrax unit and continues on to find Sub-Zero, but is stopped by a spectre named Scorpion. Oblivious to the greater battle that was going on around him, Sektor returns to the Lin Kuei base to report and to recieve new instructions. But when he arrives he finds that the Lin Kuei has been disbanded. Sektor's programming contains no instructions for such an event. He begins acting solely on the last programmed commands. The first is to find and kill Sub-Zero. The second is to destroy and threats to the Lin Kuei. With the Lin Kuei disbanded, Sektor's program is unable to regard anyone as not being a threat. He sets out to perform his deadly tasks.

SCORPION

Before his death, Scorpion was part of a Japanese Ninja clan. His clan was the rival of the Lin Kuei, a clan based in China. Before the Shaolin tournament, Scorpion was hired by Quan Chi to retrieve the map showing the location of Shinnok's amulet. What he didn't know was that Sub-Zero of the Lin Kuei was hired as well. The two fought at the Shaolin temples in China, and Scorpion was killed by Sub-Zero. His family and all that was left of his clan were destroyed by Quan Chi as payment to the Lin Kuei. Scorpion's soul became lost in the Netherrealm. There he stayed and wished for vengeance against Sub-Zero. Scorpion blamed Sub-Zero for his own death and the death of his family, not knowing of Quan Chi's involvement. Finally, Scorpion was given an opportunity. Quan Chi had his own reasons to hate Sub-Zero, so he offered to allow Scorpion to leave the Netherrealm as a spectre and get revenge against Sub-Zero. The only condition would be that he would one day have to do a favor for Quan Chi. Scorpion wanted revenge badly enough to accept. He followed Sub-Zero to the Mortal Kombat tournament, and murdered him. Later, Scorpion got word that Sub-Zero was still alive. He didn't think it possible but tracked him into the Outworld anyway. There he found the younger brother of the Sub-Zero he had killed. The reality of what he had done hit him. He had taken this honorable warrior's brother the way his family was taken. To atone for this act, Scorpion vowed to protect the younger Sub-Zero. His protection was the reason Sub-Zero was able to survive the threat of the Lin Kuei cyberninjas as well as the Outworld warriors. However, as this new tournament is beginning, Quan Chi calls in the favor Scorpion owes him for the release from the Netherrealm years ago. Scorpion has no choice but to fight on the side of the Netherrealm.

TANYA

Tanya is the daughter of Edenia's ambassador to new realms. Like most Edenians growing up in a world rules by Shao Kahn, her life was hard. Her race wasn't valued as highly as Shokan or Centaurians. As a teenager she began experimenting with bizarre rituals in the worship of the fallen elder god, Shinnok. A few years later, during one such ritual, she caught the attention of the Netherrealm sorcerer Quan Chi. Quan Chi contacted her to find out who she was. As he spoke to her she was quick to pledge her loyalty to Shinnok. Quan Chi told her to wait, that as soon as Shinnok had his amulet she would be needed. During the Outworld tournament and Kahn's invasion of Earth, Tanya kept to herself. She wanted nothing to do with Kahn's plans, seeing Kahn as inferior next to Shinnok. When Outworld is separated from Edenia, and Shinnok's amulet is finally returned to him, Tanya convinces her father to allow several refugees from another realm into Edenia for safety. With Queen Sindel missing, her father makes the decision on his own and allows them in. What he finds is that they are not refugees, but instead warriors from the Netherrealm, led by the newly freed Shinnok. Shinnok promises to reward Tanya for her help, and enlists her for the battle against the Earth realm.

CYRAX

Cyrax, Lin Kuei unit number LK-4D4, is a cybernetic ninja. He is the second of three cybernetic ninjas created by the Lin Kuei before it was disbanded. Like the Sektor unit, Cyrax was a Lin Kuei assassin who allowed his humanity to be stripped away from him out of loyalty to the Lin Kuei. During Shao Kahn's occupation of Earth he was programmed to find and destroy Sub-Zero. He nearly succeeded, but was beaten by Sub-Zero and then reprogrammed to attack the Outworld warriors. His help played a role in defeating Shao Kahn. However, after completing his percieved mission Cyrax began wandering the Earth, searching for his Lin Kuei commanders to recieve new orders. Eventually he was lost, covered by sand in a large desert near the middle east. There he was found by Quan Chi. Quan Chi took the battered cyborg to Shinnok. Shinnok was able to convince Cyrax that he was the leader of the Lin Kuei. Shinnok ordered Cyrax to assassinate as many of the Earthworld and Outworld warriors as he could, using him as a pawn in his quest to enslave all realms.

ERMAC

For years, Ermac was rumored to exist in Outworld. It was said that he was a warrior with incredible power, made up of the souls of dead Outworld warriors. He was rumored to wear only red, signifying the blood of the fallen warriors contained within him, and to possess telekinetic powers. When Shao Kahn began his invasion of Earth it seemed that the rumors had been true when a warrior calling himself Ermac joined Kahn's extermination squads. Those who believe him to truly be the Ermac that was rumored about do so because of his red clothing, great fighting ability, and limited mastery of telekinesis. Ermac himself has said very little to confirm or deny the rumors. He seemed only to be interested in proving himself to be a supremely skilled warrior by becoming the new Mortal Kombat champion. He didn't get his chance before Kahn was driven out of the Earth realm. As this new tournament starts, Ermac voices his desire to fight for the Outworld, in his usual manner giving no indication why. Some believe he wants his chance to battle the current Mortal Kombat champion Liu Kang. Others, who believe he is a being made of Outworld's dead souls, believe he wants Outworld to merge with all other realms because he cannot exist in those realms otherwise.... Research I found out on my own was that he was a glitch in MKII that if you pressed a certain combo of buttons you would see scorpion but in red...this was know as ERror MACro...hence his name....yet again reseach by me

GORO

Goro is a member of a race known as Shokan. The Shokan are a subterranian race who are highly respected in Outworld, except by their natural enemies the Centaurians. Goro gained fame in Outworld for his role in Kahn's takeover of Edenia. Kahn was convinced of Goro's abilities, so he sent him to Earth with Shang Tsung to win it's Mortal Kombat so that he could take over Earth as well. In one tournament, Goro became the new Mortal Kombat champion by defeating a monk named Kung Lao. The new champion held his title for thousands of years, winning more victories for Outworld. However, on the verge of winning the final victory, Goro was beaten by Liu Kang. Goro was humiliated and returned to Outworld. Most people believed that he had died during the Shaolin tournament. He let them believe that and went into hiding. Honor is very important to Shokan, and Goro felt he had no right fighting anymore after being beaten by a human. He remained in hiding during the Outworld tournament and Shao Kahn's invasion of Earth. When Kahn is defeated and is driven back into Outworld, he follows up on rumors that Goro is still living and tracks him down. Because Goro is the former champion, the rules of Mortal Kombat allow him, and only him, the right to enter the Outworld in the new tournament between Earth and Netherrealm. Kahn offers to make Goro general of Outworld's armies despite his dishonor if he enters the Outworld in the tournament. Goro accepts. All this time Goro has been improving his skills and decides he is finally ready to take the title of Mortal Kombat champion back from Liu Kang.

Fujin, Kung Lao, Kano, Kitana, Sub-Zero, Stryker

FUJIN

The name Fujin is actually that of the god of wind. Fujin is one of the four elemental gods of the Earth realm. Like most of the gods, he has had little contact with the mortals of the Earth realm. He is well known to the Shaolin monks of China, and has interacted with few mortals other than them. Before Shao Kahn's invasion, Fujin's main appointment was to help guard Shinnok's Amulet against anyone who might enter. It was here that he fought several mortals, including a Lin Kuei warrior named Sub-Zero. When Shao Kahn invaded the Earth realm, Fujin was helpless to do anything almost from the beginning. Kahn was quick to begin the merger of Earth and Outworld. Because Fujin is an Earth god, he gained less dominion as the Earth became more a part of Outworld. He could only watch the battle taking place. When Kahn was defeated, Fujin returned to the temple of the elements to find Shinnok's Amulet gone. He immediately informed Rayden. The amulet had been taken by Shao Kahn and later found by Quan Chi. Rayden and Fujin tried to prepare, but Shinnok began his invasion quickly. As this Mortal Kombat tournament begins, Fujin finds himself one of the last remaining gods who is able to fight. He willingly enters the tournament to help Rayden finally defeat Shinnok.

KUNG  LAO

Kung Lao bears the same name as his great ancestor who was killed by Goro thousands of years ago. Kung Lao was once a member of the White Lotus Society, but is now a nomadic warrior. When Liu Kang traveled into Outworld, ending up competing in Kahn's tournament there, Kung Lao traveled with him. Lao had been studying Shao Kahn and his realm, and wanted to help Liu Kang in his mission to Outworld. Kung Lao ended up defeating Kintaro and hoped Liu Kang would be able to beat Shao Kahn. Both were attacked by Outworld forces, and escaped back to Earth. Once there, Kung Lao tried to reform the White Lotus Society in order to train warriors for Kahn's future attempts at taking the Earth. But Kahn attacked sooner than anyone had expected. Kung Lao found himself to be one of the last remaining humans while Kahn's forces overran the Earth realm. Kung Lao helped Liu Kang and the other Earth warriors in their attack against Kahn. They were successful, and the Earth was restored, but Lao had suffered severe wounds in the fight, and died shortly afterward. For a time, Kung Lao joined his great ancestor in the afterlife. When the Mortal Kombat tournament against Shinnok's forces is about to begin, Rayden gathers great fighters from all over the Earth to kombat this threat. Because Shinnok is bringing dead warriors back from the grave for the tournament, by the rules of Mortal Kombat Rayden is free to do the same. The first warrior he revives is Kung Lao. Hiss amazing fighting skill will be invaluable to the Earth's cause. Even if it's only for a short time, Kung Lao is proud to once again be fighting in the name of his great ancestor.

KANO

When the Black Dragon organization was in it's prime, so was Kano. He led this group of cutthroat madmen. He was responsible for numerous thefts and murders, including the murder of Sonya Blade's old partner. Kano became involved in the Mortal Kombat tournament after hearing rumors that Shang Tsung's palace was made of solid gold. Kano made his way to the Shaolin tournament hoping that he could pillage the gold. He was pursued there by Sonya Blade. Both Kano and Sonya ended up being captured by Shang Tsung and taken back to Outworld. There they were held captive by Shao Kahn as he lured Earth warriors into Outworld to fight against his armies. Jax managed to rescue Sonya from the Outworld, and tried to bring Kano back as well. Kano managed to escape from Jax and Sonya, but not from Shao Kahn. He was almost executed by Kahn, but convinced Kahn to spare his life if he teaches the Outworld warriors how to use Earth's weapons. This bought Kano some time. He let Shao Kahn believe that he was going to fight for the Outworld, but when the invasion began, Kano used the opportunity to escape. Evading the extermination squads, he stayed alive for a while, but Sonya Blade finally caught up with him. In a rooftop battle, Kano was killed by Sonya. He was thrown off onto the pavement below. Sonya thought she had finally gotten rid of Kano. However . . . When Shinnok is preparing for the new tournament Rayden has declared, he prepares fighters that he knows will have a chance at beating the Earth warriors. Shinnok is able to look into Sonya's soul, and see the man that she fears the most. He lifts Kano's dead soul from the pits of the Netherrealm where it now resides, and restores life to the former Black Dragon leader. Shinnok is controlling Kano by fear, threatening to kill him if he doesn't serve him, and forces Kano to enter the Mortal Kombat on the side of the Netherrealm. As always, Kano has his own plans, and is just waiting for the right moment to execute them.

PRINCESS KITANA

Princess Kitana was born 10,000 years ago in Edenia. Shortly after she was born, Shao Kahn entered Edenia. He killed her fater Jerrod and forced a marraige between himself and Kitana's mother, Sindel. Sindel was eventually driven to suicide, and Kitana was raised as Shao Kahn's daughter. Kitana grew up with a resentment for her stepfather. Finally, during the Outworld tournament, she turned on Kahn. Kitana aided the Earth warriors in their fight, and killed her evil clone, Mileena. For these crimes, Kitana was sentenced to death. However, with the help of a friend she was able to escape to the Earth realm, but by the time she got there Shao Kahn was already beginning his invasion. Kitana helped battle the Outworld warriors, but more importantly she told the newly reincarnated Sindel of her true past. After losing Sindel, Kahn was able to be driven back into Outworld. Kitana then returns to Edenia to rule as princess with Sindel as queen. The reconstruction of Edenia goes well for a while, until queen Sindel suddenly disappears, and the fallen elder god Shinnok enters Edenia and wages a war against the elder gods. Kitana joins the Earth warriors in their fight, knowing Shinnok must be defeated and hoping to find out why her mother has suddenly vanished.

SUB-ZERO

Sub-Zero is a name that has been passed through many generations of a family that has been part of the Lin Kuei clan. Along with the name has been passed the ability to generate freezing temperatures, and direct them toward an opponent. This Sub-Zero is a warrior who had been learning his abilities from his father before he died, and then learned from his older brother. Both brothers shared the name Sub-Zero, and it was unknown to outsiders that there were two of them. Sub-Zero's older brother was eventually called away on a mission. He had been hired by Quan Chi to obtain a map from the Shaolin Temples. The younger Sub-Zero was not allowed to go. When his older brother returned, he brought stories of a place called the Netherrealm and a fallen elder god named Shinnok. The elder Sub-Zero then left to compete in a tournament called Mortal Kombat. When his brother never returned from Mortal Kombat, Sub-Zero and his friend Smoke left to search for him. They were drawn into a fighting tournament in Outworld, against strange creatures and an immortal named Shao Kahn. There, Sub-Zero learned that his brother had been killed by a spectre named Scorpion, the soul of a warrior his brother once killed. Scorpion realized that this was not the same Sub-Zero. To atone for killing his brother, Scorpion agreed to become Sub-Zero's protector. Sub-Zero and Smoke left the Outworld and returned to China. They planned to tell the Lin Kuei leader about Shao Kahn, but when they arrived they stumbled onto a plan by their leader to automate the Lin Kuei as cyborgs. They were pursued by two cyborgs, Sektor and Cyrax. Smoke was captured, but Sub-Zero escaped. He began planning a method of rescuing Smoke, but his plans were interrupted by Shao Kahn's invasion. Sub-Zero was forced to battle the Outworld warriors, as well as elude Sektor and Cyrax, who had been sent after him. Sub-Zero managed to incapacitate Cyrax and reprogram him, and Sektor was prevented from killing Sub-Zero by the ninja spectre Scorpion. Sub-Zero eventually found Smoke again, but to his horror, Smoke had been partially converted into a cyborg. He retained his memories, but was trapped in a robotic body. After the Outworld invasion was over, the Lin Kuei was disbanded, and Sub-Zero began looking for a way to restore Smoke's human form. When Shinnok escapes from the Netherrealm, and a new Mortal Kombat against both Outworld and Netherrealm begins, Sub-Zero volunteers to compete. He knows the fate of the Earth is at stake, but he also wants to continue the legacy of his brother by defeating Quan Chi and Shinnok as his brother did.

STRYKER

Kurtis Stryker is an officer in the NYPD. His primary job was as a patrol officer, but when Shao Kahn began his invasion, he was needed to help control the resulting riots. As the Outworld portals open over New York, everyone in the city begins fearing for their lives. The police try to keep the city under control, with little success. Soon, Stryker began to see the souls of everyone around him being ripped from their bodies and drawn into the Outworld portal. Before long he was the last surviving person in a city once populated by thousands. With no idea as to what was going on, he just walked. Stryker walked for days. Abandoned cars and empty buildings stood as remnants of the life that used to be there. One night, Rayden spoke to Stryker in a dream. He told him to travel west, that he would meet some important allies there. With no other clues as to what he should do, Stryker headed west. There he met the other Earth warriors and found out about the Outworld and Shao Kahn. Stryker proved himself as a chosen warrior. He helped battle the Outworld forces and end Kahn's invasion. Afterward, Stryker and the other Earth warriors saw their world returning to normal, including the souls Kahn had taken. Stryker returned to New York. His role in the defeat of Shao Kahn earned him a Congressional medal of honor, as well as several talk show appearances. Stryker was congratulated by department chief Anemone for the limited fame he had earned, but advised him not to let it go to his head. Stryker continued to work as a patrol officer. While on patrol one day, Stryker has to arrest an old man for disturbing the peace. Even after being arrested, the old man keeps ranting about the end of the world. He finally says, "Shinnok is gonna kill us all!" Even though it was from a crazy old man, Stryker thinks about his words. Shinnok is a name he knows he's heard before. After hearing about a tournament that Jax and Sonya have insisted on entering, Stryker feels compelled to do the same. His instincts tell him it's important that he be there.
