  Mormonism

Introduction

Hello all, I've decided to downsize my former commentaries on mormonism and set this site up for articles, links and correlary studies in judeo-christian and mormon theologies....covering their similarities and their distinctions. My particular interest is in the evolution of theology respective of each unique tradition and how these blend and contribute to my own theosophical insights and perspectives....which also may include spiritual traditions outside of these cultures...as all converge in a universal primordial wisdom that unites all religions at the core....those that have been truly inspired from the Heart and Soul of the Eternal...and are native to the human spirit.

Little background

Having been born and raised in the mormon church, a most pivotal time in my life which shifted my perception in a whole new way concerning my native culture came near my 18th year when preparing to serve a mission and facing other life-goals after high-school graduation. I was seriously seeking divine direction and most vitally a revelation of Truth...as I poured out my soul to God and took up the challenge to read the Book of Mormon thoroughly and pray for a divine witness of its truthfulness. But my prayers went beyond just that....to know and realize the very presence of God, Truth Itself.  I recall also many times going up into the hills near our home in Brookside, UT. and there commune with God....in the beauty and surrounding of Nature - some mountain top experiences took place there in the silence and wonders of the heart. These times of prayer are often the purest...as they are spirit to Spirit. I believe these prayer and reflection times were seeds that later opened up into transformations and awakenings as things evolved in my life...carrying me into new currents of knowledge and revelation.

Embracing a more traditional/orthodox Christianity

During this time some familial difficulties arose within our family and my parents ended up seperating. I was presented the opportunity to go live with my grandparents(moms side) in Orange, CA. - find work, go to college, etc. I ended up moving in and soon found a job in a wherehouse nearby. I would ride my bike to work every day and soon discovered a little outreach center that was along my route - the catchy thing was the sign out front read - Ex-Mormons for Jesus. Hmmmmm I thought. I finally ended up going in and reading some of the literature they had (they also had a small library). I befriended some of the volunteer workers there in time and began researching the literature there on mormonism and traditional christianity. It soon became obvious that this was an evangelical outreach to mormons, attempting to share with them the message of salvation from the Bible...while at the same time showing them how mormonism was contrary to what the Bible taught. (of course I sought to investigate and find things out for myself).

I began to discover many things that I never knew about my mormon culture, history, theology, etc...and was opened to study what the New Testament taught about salvation. After a few months of research I chose to accept Christ as he was presented in the Bible(in a more traditional catholic/protestant sense) - from there I had a 'born-again' experience and entered into fellowship with more traditional christian churches - such was a whole new spiritual experience for me. I began to enter and experience a new dimension of Christ and the presence of God and explored many different groups who held to a New Testament model of christianity - from traditional evangelical to classical pentecostal/charasmatic.

Immersion in the Spirit

As I began to grow in my new christian walk...I began to hunger for more of God's presence. This led me to the experience of being filled with the Holy Spirit, or being baptized in the Spirit. During an altar call and time of prayer in the Sanctuary at SonLight Christian Center....I went forward and began to pray for another person there...laying my hand upon her shoulder. As we and others began to pray, dedicating ourselves to God and/or praying for the healing of others....all of a sudden I began to feel a spiritual release within me and an anointing upon me...and began to pray in a spiritual language. Soon this holy language just flowed out of the depth of my being like rivers of living water.

This was a very liberating experience in the Spirit of God...and it was time of great healing, refreshment and empowering as we prayed together, rejoiced, gave thanks, praised the Living God...hugged, cried and just enjoyed the Lords presence in the fullness of his divine Love. I never experienced anything like this before - not to this degree anyways. I was beginning to recognize and value the essential of the Holy Spirits power and presence in the ministry of Christs church....and in our fellowship. (I see the church of God being a universal body of believers mystically united as the 'body of Christ' naturally including all sons/daughters of God - this includes all who are united to Christ in spirit and truth no matter what denominational affiliation).

The healing ministry

Some years after my conversion...destiny brought me into contact with Joyce Hungate Ministries..and I began to attend her prayer and healing meetings. She was a traveling evangelist who held revival meetings in the Portland, OR. area. I began attending, helping and supporting her ministry as a faithful steward for some time. I learned a degree of spiritual submission and how to flow in the dynamic and anointings of the Spirit. Many times in our meetings...the glory and presence of God would be so mighty. Many wonderful things took place and the Spirit of the Lord had full liberty as we allowed Him to guide and direct the meetings. The anointing of the Lord would come upon me at times....very heavily...and those whom I ministered to were touched by the power of God.

I sometimes refer to Joyce as my 'mother in the Holy Ghost'...as she nurtured me under her wing...and was a catalyst to bring me into this dimension of ministry - to experience it firsthand and to know the reality of the anointing and the power of the Spirit. I also attended and affiliated with other fellowships and groups of believers who expressed different facets of the Lords ministry realizing that there is diversity within the church universal...yet all who are truly born of Gods Spirit are one in Christ. Truly....as one opens up to the Spirit of the Lord.....he is free to experience the liberty of spiritual endowments, gifts, callings, blessings, powers.

Current soul path, log: 11-16-04

Thru-out these times mentioned above and currently I have gleaned from many schools and teachers within the judeo-christian tradition, both orthodox and esoteric. This website chronicles my journey thru mormonism and beyond. While I may not hold to or believe every doctrinal aspect of mormonism....I embrace all the true and universal prinicples within it...and that which is true, good and beautiful in all religious traditions, cultures and sacred writings. The path before is filled with endless discovery and Light...as the soul continues in eternal progress.

The rest of this website and my current religion

At this website is a 'Study links' page for those interested in expanding their knowledge of mormonism relative to traditional judeo-christian theology (some may be pro-traditional christian in their views and criticism...but each may study the data themselves and make their own decisions) and will include some of my own articles on subjects of interest that concern related topics. I share these links/articles/commentaries for your own enlightenment and expansion of knowledge.

My current religion is one of being. It is thus related to my own concepts of theontology (the study/science of Gods Being/Existence relative to our own being/existence). It is one of Heart and Soul, grounded in the eternal Law of Love and the ministry of Wisdom. It has Christ as the Center as its Light and Mediator. It is of the Spirit. All commentaries of religious, spiritual and metaphysical insight spring from this center and are composed to magnify the central core of Deity in its manifold expressions. In some ways I embrace a syncretism of religious thought and philosophy from my own studies and explorations from many different teachers/teachings....an eclectic blend of sorts....like a soul pioneer...gathering gems and treasures that attract and inspire,...adding to the great treasury of Soul.
