Zachary "Moose" Triplett

a tribute

Everyone has a Moose story...

Zack's 13th birthday party with some of his best friends...

wonder why there's so many girls...:)

Moose touched many lives.

One of my most cherished memories of Zack is when he was staying
with us while Trina and Travis went to a wedding in Salt Lake.  He
had been playing in the den and came out to the kitchen
crying and said "Grandma, I have to talk to you."  So I took him to
the rocking chair and he climbed on my lap and looked up at me
with those big eyes and tearfully said "Do you think I'm too smart?"
I had all I could do to keep from laughing out loud because it just
struck me so funny that a kid his age (around 7 years) would worry about
something like that.  It probably came from us telling him and everyone
how smart he was.  Anyway, we had a long discussion on how wonderful
it is to have a mind like he has, and that it was something to be very proud of,
and all the great things he could do because he was so smart. Whatever
I said seemed to satisfy him, because he got off my lap and went back to playing.

And I always remember when he was around 3 years old and staying with us
in Max and while putting him to bed I would always make up a story before prayers,
and then when I would get up and try to leave he would say "Grandma, let's visit a little."
That would go on for some time and he really would visit!

We loved Moose so much!  He meant so much to my son, Ethan.

The first time I met Moose was at the Shell Station on Nichols Sawmill.  We had just moved to

Magnolia and my son, Ethan had been having a little bit of a rough time making friends.  I have

an older son as well who makes friends very easily.  That day, we parked in front of the Shell

station and my older son, Gatlin, got out and went in to buy a coke or something.  Well, Moose,

Paige and Bosco were sitting at a little table in the window and when they saw Gatlin walking in I

figured they would all jump up and speak to him.  But to my surprise they had recognized Gatlin

as Ethan's big brother and ran out the door to come talk to Ethan who was waiting with me in the

truck!  It made Ethan's day and at that moment I held a vey special place in my heart for those

kids.  I was able to get to know Moose a little better in the months to come.  He came to Ethan's

birthday party in July and we will always treasure the homemade card he gave Ethan!  It is

precious.

Ironically, the last time I saw Moose was a few days before the accident.  We were both standing

in the Shell station waiting to check out.  He was so kind and considerate to me when I said hello

to him.  I just can't tell you how deeply he touched me during the short time that I knew him.  I

know that you are so proud of him and that you have heard many stories similar to this one.  I will

always think of him and say a prayer for you when I am there at the Shell Station.  I am there very

often and I don't ever go away without thinking about that beautiful smile and wonderful kid

named Moose.  Thank you for sharing him with us all.

Very Sincerely,

Hope Elms

Moose always liked movies. Actually, I suspect it wasn¹t the movies he liked so much as it was the experience of going to the movies.

He enjoyed hanging out with friends. Eating snacks. Discussing what we'd just seen in the caron the way home. I¹ll always

remember the first time Moose and I went to amovie together. It was a Disney cartoon. The musical numbers grabbed his attention.
(He always liked music, too.) But everything else about it bored him to distraction. To keep himself occupied, he crawled underneath
our seats and ate whatever scraps of food he could find on the floor.

I should probably mention that he was two years old at the time. And the movie was ³Aladdin.²
It wasn't a bad one, as far as Disney cartoons go. But it was nowhere near as funny as the sight of a two-year-old kid rootingaround on that sticky floor for sustenance.

A month later, he and I went to see ³The Muppet Christmas Carol.²
By this time, he was already too mature to eat off the floor. Instead, we constructed a line of M&Ms on the armrest between us and ate them, very carefully, one by one. When the M&Ms were gone, he turned to me and said,³OK. I¹m ready to go.²

³What do you mean you¹re ready to go?²
I asked. The movie still had 20 minutes left.

He shrugged. ³I¹m ready to go,²
he said again. And that was the end of that.

It was probably just as well. The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come had just arrived on the scene. Moose didn¹
t seem too bothered by the sight of it, but that hooded dude always creeped me out.

Hey Mrs. Trina,

This is Kayla Huggett,i was at your house the day of Mooses memorial with Paige Allen.

I dont know if u remember me or not but i got your email and i just wanted to send

u one of my favorite memories of me and moose. i told this story to so many people.

last year in 7th grade we were at bosos   (kacie west) bday party and kacie was telling

her mom how if we were going to have pizza then  she had to get moose and hers favorite

kind. which was like the grossest to everyone else. it was canadian bacon and pine

apple.mrs. bev had gone and got the pizza and when she got back she decied she

was going to make their pizza for them. after she made it moose was the first to take

a piece. he loved it! he was trying to get me to try it. but i dont like canadian bacon

(at all!) haha and he was determine to make me eat al least one bite of it. so when i

told him

that there was no way i was going to try it he decieds that he was going to make me.

we were on this swing on the front porch and when i wasnt expecting it at all he slapped

me in the face with it. and when i was trying to slap him in the face with my pizza bach

at him i was laughing so hard i got some of the pizza in my mouth and almost threw up.

haha it was soo funny yet soo nasty. then after i went inside to get the pizza off my face

he said he wanted to have a pizza eating contest with me to see who could eat one

piece the fastest.i told him he had no chance against me. haha but he sure did prove

me wrong...BIG TIME. while i was trying to take the first bite, he ramed the entire piece

in his mouth...getting it ALL over his face in the prosess. it was sooo funny. then he told

me if i didnt get him a napkin then i would have to lick it off. hahaha i decied  i was

going to get the napkin instead. it was one of the funniest partys ever. another memory

i have was in the 5th grade when i first moved to magnolia. that was the year i meat

 moose. we didnt

really meet like normal people meet. the way me meat was when we was running for

the 5th grade president he had to give a speech in front of our grade. he went up

there with the most confidece over. he started his speech off by saying that he knew

that he could not walk very well but that he could out-dance any one in the 5th grade.

 and then he

started to dance. ihad soo much respect for him after that. because ihave never known

anyone or i dont think i ever will that would go up on stage infront of the school and

dance.it was soo awsome! after he gave his speech to the school, we still didnt really

know each

other. but i voted for him because i loved his speech. the next day he came up to me

and asked him if i voted for him.i told him yes, and ever since that we have been

friends. im  soo happy i got to know him. he was not like any other guy. he was soo

awsome and he lived an happy and HILARIOUS life and any one that knew him .....

he made their and

mine a hilarious one also.  thank you for reading this long email. but i have soo many

more memories with moose that i will never forget. and im glad you sent me the email

u didnt and gave me the chance to tell you how i feel about moose.

                         sincerly, Kayla Huggett

Hey there,

LoL Moose was an awesome guy and laughter followed him pretty much anywhere

he went...I do have some memorys...At lunch Me and him and Austin would always

sit together and they would always come up with the laimest things lyke i remember

one time we were talking about pop corn for some odd reason and he started

laughing and looked at me and said "you Pop my Corn" He was always saying

random things.  Then at Boscos Party He got gum stuck in his hair..They said that

 peanut butter would

get it out so we tried it but it didnt really work...we got it out eventually though

...LoL good times...Well I dont really know what else to say. that book should be

filled  with memorys because he was the greatest and most care free guy  around

with TONS  of friends lol so Thanks for the email...

love always

MeGaN StOwE

i was he movie's with him, bob, tiny and bosco we wanted to see spiderman2 but it

would have been to late when we would have gotten out so we saw dodgeball

instead. and on the  way movies him and tiny sang a song it was hay baby

caypaso i thought i was ur only vato

all i want is uno vaso guackamoly well u repeat every thing but u get the idea

of it right well my name is kati appelt. nice to meet u i love moose.

Helo Mooses Mom,

Its me, Bob. Thank you so much for your son, he always had somthing to say

that would make you laugh or make you feel better about yourself. He was truely

GREAT! Please call me whenever it is okay for me to come over and be in his room.

Moose was one of those people that I would be late to class becaus i would stand

there  talking to him FOREVER! You sent me that email about memories so I will share

some-In the 5th grade at Michelle Fernandez's birthday party everyone was was

swimming except me and moose(if moose aint doing it, im not going to do it!) Moose

said that he didnt want to swim because it was just wy too cold outside and it would

be stupid to swim and catch a cold 2 seconds later! Well i guess after a while he

didnt care about a cold and tryed to push me in but i grabbed his arm and we both

ended

up in the pool, FREEZING! We finaly got out and moose was purple! And i was tell him

get inside before you kill yourself because i know HUMANS airnt suppose to be purple.

but i guess he knew better because he screams at the top of his lungs "NOOOO, I AM

PURPLE MAN AND I ALWAYS WILL REMAIN ALL MIGHTY PURPLE!!!" by  then i had a towel

rapt around him pushing him indoors so he could get warm. when we got inside he

said "Oh yes that is my new favorite color because  i AM purple man" thats one of

my favorite memories of him.- Last year me and Casey Morehead

were friends and i was at her house witch was a street over from mooses

house. Me and casey were walking down the street and moose began to fallow us

on  that red bicycle thing and he kept wistling and wispering "i wonder were they

are going, they walk so funny, i wonder if they are packin a gun or 2" we just

kinda laughed and kept walking. At the end of the rode there was theses 3 boys

that started throwing rocks at us and yelling fowl words and calling us ugly

tramps. So, Moose

(the good semaritan he was) Took a rubber band and flicked one of the kids

in the ear. The kid begans crying and runs home. Later we are walking on mooses

street but  of corse moose ran home. But this van began folowing us and this lady

gets out and says were does that boy live that ya'll were with? Casey just gives it

 away and

points to his house. Later that day we called him and he was grounded!

-Monday (the monday before his accident) me and moose were talking on the

phone and he told me to make a little model of him with spidermans body and

his  head. So, his wish is my comand, and i make the little rediculaus thing. i brought

it to school and we stood there laughing for EVER! i still have it if you want to  see it.

but i remember him saying for me to make it so he could be with me  werever

i went.- I have much more memories of him but my hand hurts and you

are probably tired of reading so call me or i can come over to help you with

the memory book! I LOVE YOU!

                              *BOB*

i cant go on without telling u some things so i just think ill tell u some now.....

1.moose skipped school more than 6 times i dont know exactly how many but

every time he did he went behind his friend tinys house and waited until the bus

and his mom left so he could walk home and stay there all day. One day he was

inside the house and his mom pulled up in the car around noon,so he hurried to

pick up the wrapers of the moon pies he was eating and he quickly went outside

and waited for his mom to leave(mrs trina came home 4 lunch).when she left he

went inside but was carefull the rest of the day, just incase his mom came home

again.

2.you know mooses scooter? im sure you do...well i remember teaching him how

to ride it and how to keep his ballance on it.....when he finally learned, we rode

it for about 3 hours taking turns...so when i had to go inside he said that he would

ride it around the neighborhood and i said ok....so i went inside my playroom

and about 5 seconds later i heard a- bump, crash, boom. 3 seconds went by and then i heard "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

so i ran outside and i saw him laying on the ground holding his knee and his

elbow at the same time while crying......:(  so i ran and picked him up off the

ground  and i carried him to his house where he cryed sommore......i always

thought of moose as a small brother that i needed to protect because

obviously he couldnt do much so i scared everyone who picked on him by

telling  them that i would "beat them up" if they even spoke a word to him

,so they never did again..... i know moose was scared at times and i was too

 but we both were

always there for eachother and even as he sleeps,he will always be the

brother  that need protecting to me......

Hi Trina,

Thank you for those links.

I wanted to share with you a "Zack story" -- well, it's more like a

personal memory than a story. You and Zack have been on my mind so much

lately that I haven't been able to let go of it (nor do I want to) so I

wanted to tell it to you.

I don't remember the exact year but I was still in school and Zack

could walk but was encumbered by his braces, so it had to have been the

early to mid 90's, I think. You, Zack and myself were spending some

time out at Mike's lake cabin (I'm not sure how or why we were out

there. I just remember that it was late spring because the bugs were

finally starting to come out). For some reason you weren't around so it

was up to Mike and myself to keep, him company -- which we happily did.

We went on a walk in the woods and it wasn't long before mike scooped

Zack off his feet and plucked him on my shoulders. He was a little

scared but totally thrilled by his new vantage point. I remember

telling him if he felt like he was going to fall, to just grab a

fist-full of my hair and he'd be ok. (believe me, I lost more than a

few hairs that day!) Eventually he became more comfortable and soon he

was letting go with both hands, giggling with excitement. He would

reach up and grab at the low hanging branches, pulling off the freshly

budded leaves as I would walk under them. He was so happy and thrilled

at discovering this new perspective. It made ME feel like a child

again.

Even though I wasn't around Zack as often as Greg and Mike were, he

still had a profound effect on me. There is a very big empty space in

my heart right now.

Take care,

Matt (Dreiling)

ok ok i guess since everybody else is fessin up i will too!

Moose and i were really close friends and poo ok yeah we were "going out"

which is really embarrassing to admit considering the fact Mrs.Trina is

going to read this.

On my birthday he gave me a birthday card with his gramma on it

((which was hilarious)) and then i was like "WOAH! i like moose!"

then he asked me out and gave me a note that said I LOVEDID

YOU MINDAY and yeah it was pretty cool.

But the reason for the madness which i am getting to, is ok...this is

REALLY embarrassing, but he wanted us to "make out" OK I'm REALLY

blushing now. So then the rest of that day he was eating mints and i was

laughing and then yeah at the party AUSTIN AND BOSCO were kissing

so we were like ok what the poo so yeah we did too.

Then he told austin it was the coolest thing in the world. ((which i heard after))

I figured i would tell the whole story cuz i heard paige and kayla

already told and it would be kinda awkward if i denied it or somethin!

i have alot more mindy and moose stories...but i  dont know if anyone

wants to know them cuz yeah it might be just a little awakward!!

Chris forward this to everyone pleez cuz i cant figure the dad gum thing out!!

I love you guys ((all of you!!))

Minday!

I guess it's my turn. I really don't have one big story since i have known Zack

for so long, so there all kinda sentences. Anyway!

1. There was a time in 5th grade when he introduced crazy bones to us. He

was good at introducing things to us.

2. He introduced me into a type of video game where u had armies and

we thought  that was pretty neat.

3. He taught me how to play uno.

4. When he moved here, I'll helped meet people around the neighborhood.

5. He helped me get rid of a really annoying girl who liked me by pretending

my  phone number was really his and freaked her out.

6. And the last one I can think of at the moment was the time Zack, Tiny,

and I sang  karaoke at lunch in 5th grade.

Well that's all that popped up for the moment so there.

P.S. Zack wanted to start a simpsons card game fad. So you should all buy simpsons

playing cards

-Chris Reddick

hello again

well,

since i am telling everything else...

1.me and moose "went out" about five times.

2.over this summer he hid and got on the laptop and closed it everytime

yall came in.  ((in north dakota i think it was?))

3.he once told me he pooped on jasper.

4.once he was talking  over the microphone on yahoo messenger telling

us to  lick his butt...and my dad walked in and was like "this is mr.mike..."

and it was so  funny cuz moose was like "ohh...sorry mr.mike" but my dad

was just laughing so hard.

5.moose ate a ton of smarties, and i drank some lemonande, and we

got really really hyper, and some how my toe ended up in his mouth...

with bosco laughing really hard  on the floor.

6.we were at my birthday party in sixth grade, and tyler pulled his pants

down and tyler just started laughing really really hard cuz moose was wearin boxer briefs!!

Love,

Mindolabobalabadabadodo

Ok well i have known moose since 6th grade he was in my gym class

and he was  always making people including me laugh. We werent

all that close but we started getting closer at the end of last year.

Okay now for my story a couple of days beforethe accident he rode

his bike to the shell station and i saw him there so he got somebread

and i got some bread and 2 days after (wednesday the day of the accident)

all he said was bread and me and him just started laughing most of

the time thats  all he had to do is just say one word and everyone would

just start laughing. i have  another story but im not sure if moose started

it, one day in lunch im pretty sure it  was moose but im not absolutely sure,

he just started singing sublime-santeria and  like our half of the lunch room

joined him and we just had so much fun with it. it  was either moose or austin clark im not sure

Stacy

hey it's Kacie West....((Bosco))I kinda just wanted to say some stuff...

Moose was the reason i would skip musical theater practices every time last

year...just cuz i knew he would come to my house as soon as he got home.

I  remember when he called me just to say he knew how to ride a bike...I was

so happy for him! He rode it over to my house right after that and fell off in

my grass! I asked him if he was alright and he just got up and said "I  meant

to do that"    A funny thing, i think, is when he came over this other time

and i came  outside and he ran in my house and locked me out then

mooned me by the  window by my door! I laughed so hard! He came over every

day he could...and instead of calling me when he was

about to come over, he called when he couldnt come over! He left some guitar

pics at my house because my mom has a guitar he always

played but we never had pics...If you want them Mrs.Trina your welcome to

them for his collection. One time he came to krogers with my mom and me

and we took the mini  shopping carts and raced thoughout the whole store...

it was so fun! then  we ate all the samples and bought liquid ice mints! it was

fun!!!  i have SOOOOOOO many mroe moose stories so just e-mail me back or

yahoo IM me at everyone_luvs_my_pimpness  or rosco2k5 for aim.

i luv all u guys! If u want a moose shirt they are $10!!! beybye!!!

                                    Kacie West ((bosco))

Hey Mama Moose,

Mindi confest so i will too. In 5th grade me and moose were

"goign out" like boyfriend and girlfriend. All of our friends were

sitting under the blue slides out by the playground. At this time

gerald and ginger were girlfriend and boyfriend too. And some

little kid came up, his name was potatoe!, any way he walked up

and he was like how come you guys never kiss if ya'll are

boyfriend and girlfriend?!?! So moose looked over and planted a

wet one on my cheek! After that he was like ha! he was always

telliong everyone how great they were and making them feel great.

Thats what he did for me too. He also taught me to be origanal!

Thats why my new favorite color is BROWN! SO POO! Nobody

likes brown , and the color seemed so lonley so i took it for me!

The way me and moose hooked up was that at the begining of

recess everyone was like i gata tell you something but i cant!

And finely i got it out of Tiny and chris, they told me moose

wants to know if i will go out with him, like g-friend and b-friend,

at this time moose was in time out! i didnt belive them at 1st cuz

u can never trust the guys that put stuff in your seat so you will

look funny all day. but then i yelled over to moose" r u 4 real?"

and he was like YEAH!!! and so i yelled YES! and then i got put

in time out for talking to someone that was in time out!

At the mid year of 5th grade we declared war( well tiny, moose,

gerald, and chris declared war) against me, ginger, and michi.

they even wrote up a paper that said "team A can not be kind

to team B and if they are, then the kind team must pay the mean

team 5 dollars!". of course the girls had to be team B! They even

made us sign it! It said the 5 dollar part really small but they didnt

fool us because still read it and signed it. the boys signed it too.

That war was so horrible(to the boys of course) Gerald had these

cacky shorts on with red jelo stained on the but and michi had

white iceing in her hair one time, and tiny ALMOST had chocalate

on his butt. finaly it ended with me and moose dating but no one

ever payed the 5 dolars cuz we kept fighting on who won! it was

so funny!

                   *BOB*

Ya so i don't really have all these storys like everyone else does but I was a

friend that sorta lingered in the shadows after a while. But that was after the

best 4 years of my life(thanxs to moose). Moose was like an angel in disguise,

a blessing in the form of a human and it took his death for a lot of us to realize

that, and now we can't stop thinkin about it and that is why i can't think

about all the great times i had because the whole time was a amazing

expierience. Thats all i can say.

                                                                -Jay

At lunch in the 5th grade i was eating a bolgna sandwitch and

Moose starts singing My bolgna has a 1st name. Well i joined

in and like half the table did too, it was so funny!

*BOB*

Yeah. I've known moose since 4th grade. He always had something

to say, and everytime he said it, somebody smiled. As far as stories

go, I have alot, but one that everybody can remember is the "poking".

I can't remember who started it, but zack was always in the middle of it.

In 4th grade, Zack, Adison, Gerald, Chris, and Jorge started poking me,

but when they poked me, they said,"poke!"  This just didn't happen in

4th grade, it went on to 5th, and that's when tiny came in. And to make

it worse, they invented the "hampster dance" which was going around

in circles poking me and saying "poke". And it straggled on to 6th grade,

not as often, but when one of them had the "urge" I got poked.

It was fun, (but lets not start it again!!)

In 5th grade, after recess, the guys started this huge hampster

dance which included the whole class, and I was in the middle.

That was funny. Well, that's sbout it for me. I miss you guys so much!!

Michelle

Hey everybody,

Moose and I never best buds. I first became friends with moose in

the 4th grade. He was such an awesome person. Being around him

just made your day better. You didn't think about anything that was

going wrong when you were around him, cuz he always had you laughing.

Oh Chris, I remember the whole crazy bone thing. That was fun.

I feel the same way Jay does.Even though we weren't best friends,

having Moose in our little group made it complete. I'll never forget

what an awesome person Moose was. I have lots of memories

that I will always be with me. I'm sooooo thankkful that I was able to know him.

KaTiE

KaTiE

hey moose.....i know you really wont recieve this...but i just have a feeling

you will see it. I miss you so much....your my hero...and i love you. i wish i

could do our little huggy dance one more time...or you could wipe your

butt on my chair again! haha! i love you more than you can imagine and

i will NEVER EVER EVER EVER forget you moose!!! nobody who knows

you can...its impossible...you made a huge impact on everyone and you

could make my day brighter with just your smile! I loved the way you smiled

when you got done playing a song on the guitar. well i dont want to cry

because i know you hate it when anyone is sad....so i guess i just wanted

to let you know that...even if you dont get this....i love you...i love you so much.

Mrs.Trina,
Hi you might not know me but my name is susan. I didt know moose for that
long but i knew him and he made my day better whenever i saw him.
I remeber moose by his faith in god. Moose was
just such a wonderful person and i will always remeber him.
Moose had a light inside of him that never went out and that
burned brighter with each and everyday that he was here with us
on this place we call earth. I spoke with moose about a lot
of things and i told him some stuff about me and he just let me
know that god will always be with me and that just made me
feel so good!!! Moose had a way with making people feel good
and making them laughe.i dont know really what else to say but
 that moose
was a true blessing in each and everyones lifes.

The Three Amigos

"The Pope" "Tiny" "Moose" 5th Grade Dance

A best friend remembers...

Peaches

My favorite memories are just going to his house, listening to music and just hanging out.

I remember listening to Presidents of the United States of America and memorizing

“peaches.” Zack, Chris Reddick and me all memorized it in 5th grade.  In 5th grade

they had a karaoke thing I think it was every Friday.  Zack went and signed us up for

Peaches.  That whole week we were memorizing the song and putting dance moves in.

So on Friday we went up and sung the song and when it came to the part that goes

“Peaches come from a can they were put there by a man in a factory donwtonw,”  Me

and Chris backed up and played air guitar, while Zack sung it solo.  After he sung about

10 words he surprised us all by running and sliding on his knees.  Me and Chris started

running in different directions and sliding on our knees.  After the song we got a standing

ovation.  Ironically, everybody had peaches in a plastic carton and they asked us to sign

their peaches.  That pretty much made us best friends and since then we’ve been closer

than brothers.

 Tiny AKA Chris Platow

Fookie

I remember when I wrote a song called Imaginary Fairies about a week

after 5th grade started.  Me and Zack were just becoming friends.  He came over

and we were on the internet.  We just happened to open up “Imaginary Fairies.”

He read it and thought it was the coolest thing he’d ever seen.  He said that we should

write a song, and we wrote our first song called “The Taco of My Heart.”  We got my

grandma’s keyboard and found a little beat on there that went with it.  I found a

little karaoke machine and we recorded ourselves and we were called “Fookie.”

The name came to us on the bus when I saw the f-word written on the bus,

and I put an “ie” after it and said, “Fookie!”  He laughed for about 30 seconds,

then gasped and said, “That’s our band name!”  After that we made our own

website and wrote both of our all time favorite songs we’ve ever wrote called

“The Donkey in the Twister.”  He slowly stopped skateboarding and was

only concentrating on music.
