Digidestend
Matt Ishida
Matt was about 8 years old when he found out that his parents were getting divorced. He sneaked out bed with T.K. because he heard his parents talking. He and his little brother were listening behind the door and that's how he found out.
Matt is a secretive loner whose Digimon partner is Gabumon. His younger brother is T.K. Takaishi whom he cares for very much. In the English-language adaptation, the two were half-brothers instead of full brothers. Matt's parents are divorced, and he and his father moved to Odaiba, where his father works at the Fuji TV Network, Inc. building. He is the bearer of the Crest of Friendship.
Matt served the role of a rival to Tai throughout the first season, which led to a large internal conflict at the end of the season as to whether or not Tai was a better older brother to T.K. than he was. He is the holder of the Crest of Friendship, which activated when Joe Kido had risked his life to save T.K. from a Veggiemon and was then being strangled by it. Matt remembered how he had treated Joe earlier for constantly making mistakes and keeping them both stuck working in a diner to pay off the bill for a meal, especially his accusation that Joe was making these mistakes on purpose. Realizing that, he also realized that he could not win his battles alone (a revelation that was finalized in his mind much later in the series) and needed the help of everyone, including Joe. Matt lived with his father, who divorced his mother a long time ago, separating him and his brother as well. He has one encounter with his mother which doesn't go well. Although T.K. was ecstatic to have his whole family together (if only for a minute), Matt refused to say much more than "Hi Mom," to her. This encounter unearths some lingering resentments in him that linger even after he returns to the Digital World.
Matt helped Taichi Yagami and Izzy fight Diaboromon with T.K. by his side and Gabumon as MetalGarurumon. He and Tai entered the Internet unintentionally and with the help of all of the kids over the net, WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon were able to DNA Digivolve into the Royal Knight Omnimon. Omnimon was able to defeat Diaboromon and Matt and Tai returned back home.
Matt became the vocalist and bass player for a rock band, the Teenage Wolves. He was very popular and girls were always running up to him wanting his autograph. One of his biggest fans was the older sister of Davis, June Motomiya. Some liked this comical relief for this series. But near the finale, Matt developed a relationship with Sora and there are also signs that show this like when Matt says that he should be jealous of Yuri because Sora kept talking about how Yuri was going to take them for lunch. One time when Tai felt he had let down Agumon, Matt punched him in the face to try and get him to snap out of it. Unlike in the previous season; Tai said "He needed it."
Matt pretty much helped Tai defeat Diaboromon/Armageddemon, with Gabumon helping as Omnimon. Matt appeared to like dressing gothicly. However he was still good friends with Tai and the rest of the DigiDestined. There was a picture of him and Sora when they were still dating but, apparently, they had a little spat. However, as a joke in the movie, he annoyed Tai when he told Izzy she was at her Tennis Club meet by saying, "Can't you remember your own girlfriend's appointments?"
By the year 2027, Yamato is married to Sora and has become an astronaut. He has a daughter, who is older, and a son, who is younger.
Rika Nonaka
Rika is the type of person who, in the beginning of the series, sees Digimon as nothing more than mere computer data, wanting her partner, Renamon, to be the strongest Digimon ever. But she eventally realizes that the two must be on equal partnership and friendship. She is very bitter and slightly antisocial thanks to her parents' divorce (as a result, her shirt in the beginning of the series has a blue heart broken in two), but Takato Matsuki (Takato Matsuda) and Henry Wong (Jenrya Li) manage to bring out the best in her. She lost a tournament to Ryo Akiyama two years before the series begins, which explains why she resents him. Rika takes Jeri Katou (Juri Katou) under her wing, teaching her about Digimon Taming when Jeri becomes a Tamer.
Rika's relationship with Renamon is unusual, more as a human contemporary than either a pet (like Guilmon was) or a playful child (like Terriermon). Rika's proud, independent, grouchy and cynical personality is substantially different than most of the female characters in the series. The exact reasons for this are unknown, although her mother is unusually young and her father is absent.
With Takato, Henry and their partners on vacation in Okinawa, it was up to Rika and Renamon to keep the peace in Shinjuku as Digimon continued to appear at a rapid pace. When Digimon started appearing all over the world, Omnimon appeared to transport Rika and Kyubimon, along with Henry and Gargomon, to the battle site where Takato and Growlmon were fighting the true enemy: Mephistomon. Rika was present when the battle continued into an alternate dimension where the Tamers' Digimon combined their attacks to create the "Trinity Burst" attack to defeat Gulfmon and put a halt to the chaos in the Real World.
Rika's family and friends were planning a party for her and she was less than enthusiastic when Takato spilled the beans to her, suggesting they go cherry blossom watching together instead (she is shown to be blushing when Takato asks her on the "date"). The appearance of Locomon called her into action, along with Renamon, jumping onto one of Locomon's carriages with Takato. Taken over by a Parasimon which tricked her into attacking Takato and Renamon with memories of her father, Rika was freed when Guilmon destroyed the Parasimon controlling her. She Bio-Merged with Renamon to Sakuyamon to help defeat the Parasimon invasion in Tokyo. Following their defeat, Rika attended her birthday party thrown by her friends, only to leave just after blowing the candles out. Takato found her watching the sunset but Renamon stopped him from going to her, letting Rika be alone with the memories of her father.
Kouji Minamoto
Kouji was chosen to wield the Spirits of Light that hold AncientGarurumon's power. Kouji is a loner yet wants to make friends. Because of his father, he has had to change schools a few times and as a result he finds it difficult to make friends. But if any of his friends are in danger, he will rush in feet first and put himself in danger to help them. Kouji's mother was supposed to have died but his father actually left his mother and remarried. Kouji never really accepted his stepmother. He obtained an SMS message while buying flowers for his stepmother.
At first, he travelled alone, showing up to help the other to-be DigiDestined as he sees fit. But he eventually joins them permanently. He and Takuya Kanbara argue sometimes. After learning that Koichi Kimura was his brother, Kouji attempts to protect him, even after his brother regains his Spirits.
History
When Kouji was younger, his mother moved out with Kouji's twin brother, Koichi, and Kouji's grandmother. His father told him his mother was dead, and never informed him of his twin brother, while Koichi was living likewise in ignorance.
His father remarried, and Kouji gained a stepmother and a dog. Whilst getting flowers for her, he received a message on his cell phone from Ophanimon. Later, he followed the instructions from Ophanimon to the train station, where he rode the elevator with Takuya down into the depths of the earth. He then took a Trailmon into the Digital World. He was alone when he reached the Digital World, and had to travel in solitude until he used his incredible fighting skills to save J.P. and Tommy from a horde of Digimon. When Takuya accidentally knocked him into a hole, he gained his human spirit, Lobomon, who is the perfect form, the warrior of light, to blind the darkness in his heart.
He later met Koichi, and found out that he is his twin brother. Together with the others, they set off with two of the spirits of the Legendary Warriors to set the Digital World free.
In the episode when Duskmon goes into Kouji's mind, there is a guitar leaning against the wall next to the door where his father is standing. It is believed that this guitar is Kouji's, but it has never been mentioned in the show.
