In July 2006, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. That, in itself, was a scary thought! How was I going to handle this situation? I decided to meet this disease head on no holds barred!
I do not care for wigs or some hats/caps, so I decided to make my own headgear. Hence, the creation of Halos For Cancer came about.
My daughter and I started brainstorming as to the title of this page and what it would have to offer the general public who might have cancer.
My Radiology Oncologist suggested I make and sell my headbands. Good suggestion. I have had people literally chase me down in stores making comments about my headbands and their support for cancer.
Not everyone who has cancer and loses their hair wants to wear wigs. I have found that bald can be beautiful! A person's eyes really stand out and there is a special beauty in baldness in women. there are no pretenses or agendas to deal with. There is power that otherwise would not be acknowledged when we wear what we want and feel comfortable with who we are.
Enjoy this website and see what we have to offer.
It has been a few months since my last radiation! What a trip it has been for me! I am well and am enjoying my life to the fullest! I have decided that when it is my time to leave this earthly existance, I am going out kicking and screaming!
Life is just too darn short to be sinking in self pity and woe is me. Think of the lessons I have learned and the people I have met, taught, and learned from!
My hair is back. Very curly. My eyelashes and eyebrows are back along with other hairy parts that were bare
I get checked and have tests done to make sure everything is still fine. If by chance, things are not, then so mote it be (so be it for those who don't know that term)
Life goes on no matter what. We all have two choices in our lives when things happen. We can get upset, angry, mad. We also have the choice of meeting our challenges with joy, peace, harmony and love. I choose the latter.
