What is gymkhana?
Gymkhana is a type of equestrian competition where contestants race through various obstacles and patterns. It is a test of the rider's skill and communication and the horse's agility, athleticism and training.

Who participates in gymkahana?
Anybody can! Lots of different horses and riders can be competitive at gymkhana. We have awarded trophies and buckles to every kind of horse from a 2000 pound draft horse to a tiny little driving pony, everything from mounted shooting horses to top equitation horses, reiners, broodmares and ex-race horses.

What do I need to have to participate?
Come as you are! You do not need to have any special equipment or clothing. You can show english, western or even bareback! You can show in jeans, in costume or in your PJs! Horses can compete bitless, in a halter, in a standard bridle or in a hackamore. We ask only that competitors be SAFE, wearing a boot with a heel and helmets on children.
