Monovian Culture

The Kingdom of Monovia's culture is a large mix of those from the countries it grew from. Monovia's culture is composed of Luxembourgish and British culture. Therefore, the French and English culture are expressed in literature, music, art, and song.

Art and Music

The state encourages citizens to explore their rich heritage through many of the art galleries and museums found throughout Monovia. Most of Monovian Art is composed of art from the Reniassance Period, the Elizabethan Period, and China. You can find a number of art galleries composed of brillian ancient art, sculptures and more. You can also find many vendors on the streets in South Mercona of Monovia selling priceless pieces of art of the vintage style. Monovia is also famous throught foreign investors, which brings a priceless art collection owned by the state and the royal family. This interest in art within Monovia has led to some stunning works of art and architecture produced. Many of the building in Monovia are styled in the Gothic style such and the Grand Council Chamber, St. James Roman Catholic Cathedral and mroe. The Cathedral itself is a masterpiece in church art and architecture, and blends gothic styles with the many priceless English art. Through this historic and priceless style, St. James Roman Catholic Cathedral has become a famous tourist destination in Monovia. Town Square in Monovia-ville, with its priceless carvings and ancient sculptures is also a favorite of tourist, since from it, historic Monovian music can be heard throughout all times of the day. Monovian muic derives from the French and English heritage. Hampton Palace itself hosts a concert in front of its gates every week with some of the most reknown French orchestra that can be found. In fact, HM the King studied Art and Architecture at Yale University in America. Skilled artist have decorated Hampton Palace, home of the royal family with one of a kind pieces of art from all times of history and the King himself sees that these priceless pieces of art are showcased at its best view. The Prime Minister has also had an outstanding career in the arts, as well as literature. He also makes sure that art, literature, and music is studied in schools, ensuring Monovia will be a continue being a center of art in the world.

The Opera

Monovia is home to one of the worlds greast and most extravagant theatre houses, the Palais de Comique. It presents the most brilliant operas and theatre of all time throughout the entire year. It was built by Queen Clarrise Grimaldi who was a big fan of the opera. She would often attend on late night evening and brought even more sparkle to the opera house by often having famous music artist and actors as her guest of honor. Since then, opera has been a favorite to citizens of Monovia and has influenced Monovian culture majorly. 

National Holiday

  • New Years: January 1

First Day of the new year. Celebrated with a church service first thing in the morning. Followed by a day of family gathering and brunch ending with a night of festivals and fireworks.

  • Carnival: January 18

The begining of a week of events such as the Grand Carnival in paying respect to the most venerated saint in all Monovian history, Saint James.

  • Saint James' Day: January 24

End of a week of celebrations and birthday of the most venerated saint in all Monovian history, Saint James. Usually started with a religious service in Monovia-ville. After the religious service, the national anthem is played throught Monovia-ville all throught the air until late night.

  • National Day/King's Birthday: March 19

National Day since King Elonzo took to the throne in August 15, 2003. Celebrated with the first interview with the King of the new year, a Birthday Celebration Gala at Hampton Palace, and a citizen to King meeting at the town square of Monovia-ville.

  • Independence Day: August 15

The day Monovia declared itself independent. Celebrated with a religious ceremony, where the King wears the crown jewels, a brunch at Hampton Palace with HM the King, selected citizens, and other foreign dignitaries.

  • Easter Monday: 4th Week of March

Celebrated for the day Jesus, the son of God, rose from the dead. Celebrated with a religious ceremony where the King wears the crown jewels and a reception for all Monovian citizens at the town square of Monovia-ville.

  • All Saints Day: November 1

The celebration begins in Monovia-ville and continues to the next day by a parade that ends and St. James Roman Catholic Church. After the religious service, the national anthem is palyed in Monovia-ville and the great ball of Saint James commences in open air in the town square of Monovia-ville.

  • Christmas Day: December 25

Celebrated with a religious service in the morning, then family gathering with food, gifts ect. Ending with a Christmas Day television Address by the King in the Blue Room of Hampton Palace with the rest of the royal family present.
