Family Reunion Meeting

The third formal Monk Family & Friends Association meeting was held April 1 of this year at sister Helen Jackson's home in Dudley, North Carolina.  James Monk, the president of the Association, presided over the proceeding.  The opening prayer was given by the Association Chaplain, Christine Monk, and at the end of the meeting the bendiction was given by sister Essie Lee Cox.

The meeting was attended by members of the family from as far away as Upper Marlboro, Maryland.  The minutes were read, afterwards, the business of collecting funds from the fund-raising team captains was accomplished.  Then the floor was opened for discussion and the coming excursion to Myrtle Beach in August was again the main topic. It was also mentioned by Joan Monk how we could enhance the fund raising activities with a raffle that she would spearhead.  Other fund raising ideas were mentioned.

Essie Lee Cox mentioned that other extended members of the Monk family wanted to join in on fund raising process and attend the Monk Family Reunion in 2007.  It was made clear this celebration is for ALL Monk family members and their FRIENDS.

It was a very productive meeting. After it was adjourned we had food, drink and laughter.  The next meeting is scheduled for April 29, 2006 at sister Helen's home in Dudley.

New Puppy-

Diana Rodriguez-Monk is thrilled to have another mouth to feed.  She recently got a new Toy Brendle Chihuahua puppy and she named him "Otis".  He's just large enough to fit into one adult hand. Diana is the wife of Larry D. Monk Sr. of Goldsboro, NC.

Another Mouth To Feed

Diana Rodriguez-Monk acquired another pet by unexpected coincidence.  A wood duck was walking her newly hatched brood through her yard in the city and several were separated from the group and remained behind as they were making their trek to find water.  Diana caught the hatchlings and has plans to raise them and free them once they are old enough to care for themselves and fly away. Unfortunately all but one has died, but it is thriving and seems to be doing well.  She has named the remaining duckling "Boo Boo".

Back from Chicago-
