The Mondamin Presidential Neighborhood is a culturally diverse neighborhood containing mostly single-family, owner occupied homes. Some of the homes in the area are over 100 years old with beautiful original woodwork, adding great character to the homes. While plenty of new homes are being built, others are being refurbished to show the owners pride in their property, and neighborhood. This residential neighborhood also includes some small businesses that offer vehicle repairs, various type of insurance and even day care. We are just steps away from the John R. Grubb YMCA where there are plenty of activities for people of all ages. As President of Mondamin Presidential, I'm thrilled to see the changes over the years. My husband and I are proud we live in the area and encourage you to be proud as well! We tell everyone we meet to come to the monthly meetings, get involved, share your knowledge and experience. Our monthly meetings are upbeat and informative! We have great support from one of Des Moines finest, Sgt. Bernell Edwards. He keeps everyone informed on any illegal activity in the area, as well as, what the Des Moines Police and Traffic Units are doing to "help take a bite out of crime". We schedule guest speakers for our meetings to help keep you informed, like speakers regarding the upcoming infrastructure repair in Mondamin. The City of Des Moines Public Works Department is committed to repairing the streets, curbing and sidewalks in the area, while Engineering will focus on parts of the sewer system that needs attention. Repairs could start as early as August.
Come and join the Mondamin Presidential Neighborhood Association. You do not have to live in the neighborhood to be a member!
