Q: Are all your runes $5.99? How is that possible? You can't possibly expect to make much profit! What about your expenses?
Mom's Heathen Shop and its sister store, Pop's Heathen Shop, are not run for huge profit. We don't expect to earn a comfortable living off of our stores. We operate them as cost-effectively as possible so that we can offer you the best price possible. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh and out of line, but a lot of people simply can't afford rune sets that cost hundreds of dollars. Some people can't even afford to pay thirty or forty dollars - they have bills to pay, kids to raise, taxes, etc. Here at Mom's Heathen Shop we understand that. We're working class, average run of the mill people too.
Q: Does 5.99 include Sales Tax and Shipping and Handling?
It does not include Shipping and Handling. PayPal makes us print out our labels with the amount of S&H we charge, which means if we didn't print out or use the labels (1) PayPal might boot us and (2) you wouldn't be able to track your package. And if the amount on the labels isn't enough, USPS won't ship it. And also, if S&H came out of our pockets too, we'd be bankrupt, because that really adds up after a while. But it is a relatively little amount, and if for some reason in the future our packages ship for less than the amount we specify, then we will decrease the rate.
However, to offset this we charge no sales tax. Why? Because we are not incorperated - we are a partnership running an online business and therefore the government does not and will not charge us sales tax, according to every authority we have talked to. Our business's income is taxed through our income. However, if we find that this information is incorrect and that the government does in fact collect sales tax from unincorperated online businesses, we will start charging sales tax. But for now we are operating under the assumption that this is not true, and that we are exempt.
Q: What do I get in my $5.99 Rune Set?
You'll get a set of runes in the color, shape, style and futhark of your choice along with your choice of Runebag, and simple care instructions, which mainly pertain to the Runebag (for those of you who always wonder "Can I put this in the machine or do I have to hand wash?).
Q: Do you buy the products you sell, or do you make them yourselves?
We make all our products ourselves, except for Pop's Heathen Shop, which features products with our artwork and designs on items that are made by Cafepress. We buy the supplies needed to make the products, like most companies. We buy cost-effectively, but we also buy with quality in mind. All of our products are worth every penny you pay us for them, if not more.
Q: What are your products made out of, exactly?
Our runes are made out of polished, tumbled, and in most cases tumbled glass that is painted and finished so that the Runemarks are scratch resistant and look really good. Under normal wear and tear they should maintain their high quality for years to come.
Our runebags are crocheted by Pop and I and are constructed into with very strong seams. They are made out of acryllic fiber that has a lifespan of at least thirty years under normal wear and tear.
Q: I've noticed that you like to capitialize certain words, like Runebag, Runemark, etc. What gives?
I just wanted to make certain words stand out, and its easier to read than words that are constantly bolded or underlined.
